Joe Kinnear in his interview with nufcTV this afternoon, seems quietly confident that the lads can get a result at Sunderland on Saturday, but Joe is well aware it will not be easy.
Newcastle United FC 2008-2009 - photograph taken this afternoon
But the good news this morning that the FA have overturned by the FA was not known by Joe at the time of the interview but he was hoping he would have Beye available, as he obviously rates him highly.
Joe has been delighted at the spirit shown by the lads in the last two games and while we only have 2 points to show for our efforts, we were 2-0 down at Everton and 1-0 down with 10 men against Manchester City – so to finally get draws from both games showed the fighting spirit of the team.
But Joe is obviously not one to get carried away and he seemed again very low key in the interview but knows what the Sunderland game means to Newcastle fans and is determined to once again have the lads in the right frame of mind. His interviews since his blowup with the press have been as low key as that press conference was explosive.
Joe also talked in glowing terms of his fellow Irishman Roy Keane and it’s clear Joe likes Roy as a past great player, a future top manager, and a person.
Certainly both managers are being very respectful to each other before Saturday, in a match which promises to be another great game between the two sides.
The Newcastle United official photograph was today, and you could almost see the spirit and camaraderie between the players, as they were generally acting around while trying to keep warm – and poor Jonas looked like he was absolutely freezing. It’s a little cooler in Newcastle than in Mallorca we suppose at this time of year - at any time of year.
Joe will have probably a better side out than last Monday, and with the same spirit we have shown in the last two games, and with just a little bit of luck, there’s no reason we cannot capture all 3 points on Saturday.
If we do manage the win, that will surely power us into the home game against WBA on Tuesday night at St. James’, and another 3 points there would send us surging up the league – and that ‘s exactly what we need right now. It would be great to see a full house for that game too.
Joe was asked about staying longer on Tyneside and he once again said his contract was for 8-10 games and suggested that after after the Chelsea game he thought his contract was up. Joe said he was only concentrating on the coaching and hadn’t really thought about it too much.
The Chelsea game is on 22nd November and is 6 games from today, so Joe will really have been in charge just 8 games if that becomes his last game - but of course the longer we don’t hear the club has a definite buyer, the longer Joe will be running the team.
Kinnear reiterated he is enjoying his time at the Newcastle club, and it’s obvious he’s been touched by the support he’s received from the Newcastle faithful. Whatever happens, we think Joe will long remember his time on Tyneside.
If and when Joe does leave, we just hope he’s got the results his hard work deserves - looks like we have at least another 6 games to find that out.
Comments welcome.

Is that bloody Alan Smith with his shirt untucked at the front? If you’re standing there, at least make sure you look like everyone else

Ben_BKK-correct. Ashley clearly not even willing to pay up for a half decent photographer these days, haha.
Probably that midget wise with a boots disposable or something.

Beye and Enrique look to have their shirts untucked too. But at least they’re still on straight, Smith just looks scruffy like that.

I am watching FC Copenhagen-St. Etienne right now and I have been really impressed with a couple of players… particularly Dmitri Payet from St. Etienne. I had never seen him before, but he is some player. He is playing on the left and he is really quick, great skill and looks such a goal-threat too… he just scored a goal too, a delightful little chip over the keeper after he rounded the defense. Don’t know how old he is but he would be well worth having our scouts check out!
Gomis actually looks quite good tonight too… links up better than he has done other times I’ve seen him. He’s also got himself a goal tonight.

Not exactly cold today, but tremendously windy. They must have nailed the two balls and the advertising board to the ground.
24 AltaBatalJoneN // Oct 23, 2008 at 23:31
Ganiyu: where do u have that from?? He clearly is old enough or else he would’t be in the picture..
ho-ho
25 Ben K // Oct 23, 2008 at 23:58
Ranger is not in the picture, fourth from left is Frank Wiafe Dianque or however you spell it. No sign of Aaron Spear either.

Ryan
Thats Baheng. Ranger isn’t in there even though hes scored like 11 goals already this season. We are really furnished in the young keeper department seeing as Frasier Forster isnt there and we still got 4 keepers

I meant Danquah …ooops

Bad photoshoot. Just look at the guy in the second row in front of Lua Lua, he is clearly out of position. On another note, pleased to see Viduka in the shirt again.

Morning lads. 28 hrs 35 mins to go.
Anyone read this today. Thought things were quiet on the sale front. Always trust the sun to provide quality articles. Might be true… doubt it.
