It turns out that Joe Kinnear knows Roy Keane quite well from their time together broadcasting on RTE, the Irish Public Service Broadcasting channel, a non-profit making organization owned by the Irish people.
Joe Kinnear – wonder if he has a new cell phone now?
Joe talked today about Roy Keane:
“I know Roy very well. I had a contract with RTE for 10 years, and Roy used to come on the show. “
“We have done internationals together in the studio.” “I think he is a Manchester United manager in the making, to be honest. He has done a great job.”
Mike Riley is the referee for tomorrow’s game, and Mike can make some dodgy decisions, although overall he’s a reasonable referee.
Asked if he was afraid of some bad decisions tomorrow by the referee Joe said:
“No, I don’t think he will have any of that.” “I am just hoping we can forget about penalties. we have had five penalties given against us in our eight Premier League games so far this season.”
“It’s amazing, really – some teams don’t get five penalties given against them in a whole season.” “We have just had one rescinded, so we wouldn’t want any more.”
Those penalties have generally been given away by some wild challenges in the box, and the lads need to have better discipline at times, but we’re sure Joe has been working on that in training.
If we are to win tomorrow, we’ll need a top class show from Shay and our back four, and wouldn’t it be nice to have a clean sheet for a change?
Last time we had a clean sheet was on August 23rd against Bolton Wanderers, when we won 1-0 at St. James’ Park – and that’s the only time we’ve allowed no goals in any gane this season.
Comments very welcome.

Comment #4Nile Ranger just scored two more for the u18’s. That’s 12 goals he’s scored for us now, looks like we could have a player on our hands.

Comment #14Hey Turkish Magpie, curious are you in Instanbul ?
Was at the Galatasaray vs. Antalyaspor game in Sept.9/12. Quite an experience, ended among the ultras, they sure are a fanatically supportive group.
Met some Italian and turkish fans on the way to the game and enjoyed a great night.
Keep an eye on how Gala. are doing now.
