Michael Owen To Miss Next Two Games

It wasn’t good news yesterday, when Joe Kinnear said that Michael Owen will miss both tomorrow’s game and Tuesday night against WBA, but should be back for Aston Villa the following Monday night, November 3rd at home, which promises to be quite a game.

Michael Owen – fit for game a week on Monday

Kinnear said today:

“I have seen Michael and we are thinking about bringing him back for Aston Villa. As for this weekend, no chance and I doubt whether he will be ready for the West Brom game either.”

“It is a big loss to us, he’s a big player and obviously this is a massive game. He has a strain, a tweak, so the medical people tell me, but it hasn’t healed in time.

“Gutierrez has had two full weeks of training and looks very good, very sharp. He has not had 90 minutes though.”

“I thought about playing him for the reserves in midweek, but that probably came too soon for him. I want to get him involved, but we’ll have to see how he is in training on Friday.”

We have a feeling that Joe will not risk Jonas tomorrow, but having him on the bench probably wouldn’t do any harm, and a run out for 15-20 minutes would do him good, if the game warrants that.

We’re disappointed about Owen’s injury since it was supposed to be a minor injury, but will now keep him out for 3 games.

Oh well, Oba Martins seems to be in cracking form, and we expect Oba and Shola to start up front tomorrow, and you’ve got to admit they looked good together on Monday night – and Shola knows all about what the Sunderland game means.

Im sick of everyone slagging him off because of his injuries. You think he actually wants to injure himself to miss the derby? How would u know it wasnt because he was pushing himself so hard in training to set a good example to the rest of the lads that he crocked himself? Honestly, Owen is the only player in our squad right now who can persuade an arshavin or a klose to join us. NOT martins, NOT jonas, and neither can habib beye whom u all rave so much about. If i were owen id be thinking “f*** all u guys id rather be somewhere else where my abilities are appreciated more”
