Shola Shows The Right Attitude

Shola Ameobi is quite confident that Newcastle can get a much needed win against West Brom on Tuesday evening.

Shola Ameobi – showing excellent attitude

We’ve only had two wins this season, and they both came within a few days of each other. The 1-0 win at home against Bolton on Saturday 23rd August and then the incredible extra time 3-2 win at Coventry the following Tuesday.

But we haven’t won since then and in in those 8 games we’ve lost six and drawn two. In our last 7 league games we’ve lost 5 and drawn just two.

Certainly it’s about time we won a game.

Ameobi again played well yesterday and scored his second goal in a week, and second goal in two years for Newcastle United, and we wouldn’t be surprised if also scores against WBA.

West Brom at one point were interested in signing the 6’3” striker over the summer, and it’s a good chance for him to show then just how good he is.

Shola spoke a lot of sense today as he said:

“We have to pick ourselves up, there’s no question,” “We gave a performance on Saturday where we felt we could have won it, but it wasn’t to be.”

“But we have to look forward now and forget about that, which is sometimes hard to do.”

“We have to get over it, look forward to the next game and try to get maximum points, especially playing at home.”

“Hopefully, we can give another good performance and grab a win.””

That’s exactly the right attitude and hopefully our fans will still turn out in large numbers as we try to register our first win since August.

That will go a long way to upping the confidence of the lads, and having seen the game again today, it was anybody’s game right until the end, and only that superb strike from Richardson won the game for Sunderland.

The lads have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of for their performance yesterday in what was a tremendous game of football, even though we lost. Let’s give the players a little bit of slack – and let’s support the team big time on Tuesday evening.

Howay the Lads!!

    Yes, Ed,

How can you say SHola speaks a lot of truth here…
None of our players had a good game on Saturday… we were outclassed by a very ordinary Sunderland team.
Shola was one of our better players but he was still crap. Which speaks volumes…
He had an average game for most, but a great game by his standards… if that makes sense.
Shola must go, and so too must Butt and Taylor should be backup – he has potential but his ego needs to be brought down a notch…
Selling Faye was a huge mistake.

ameobi may have the right attitude but it is quite useless when put alongside the fact that he is a no good footballer.I would go further and say that if JK selects him, butt and geremi in the same team then newcastle would have very little chance of winning any premiership game due to their drastic lack of pace.

Shola was good and worked hard – in fact I think he played the best he could…
But, say someone like Oba has a bad game, he still plays just as well as Shola having a good game… which just shows Shola wont make it…

shola is another player,if talking to the press equalled football ability he would be a world beater.
he is another deluded idiot for me,someone should tell him he will never be of the required standard for the prem.
this is a sad indication of how far our club has fallen, when people like mr amoebi are leading the line.
that has been are trouble over the last few years,we have too many overrated prima donna,s,who walk straight into our team without enough competition for places.
the squad is never big enough either, but i honestly dont think s########d are that good, just that we were that bad,so what does that say about us.

All this doom and gloom, jesus we where beaten by a lucky freekick, sometimes the best way to sum it up is shit happens!

We where unlucky not to win the previous 2 games, typical of some fans, JK is crap cos we had no luck against scumberland!

Amadonkey, did pretty good first half, was a bit of a passenger second half, Butt should have come off when he had his injury in the 1st half, imo Butt should be a bench player now Barton is back.
Barton played well when he came on, needed longer, to make a difference, roll on WBA feel quite hopeful about the next game

We’d have won it had we put Barton and Gutierrez on earlier – both of them really lifted our attack for the dying minutes.

Pls stop blaming taylor or the defense.the midfielders were useless.butt was no where jk is a fool for giving him captain.only Guthire played with no experience.barton is beta than lampard only if his life is good.jonas is a Newcastle legend already.the only confident and well composed player.martins was out of luck.they kept giving him ariel passes which is so stupid of butt.

our whole midfield needs freshened up bigstyle

the midfield is painfully slow and dont have the legs to get up and down the park.

we need to add pace and guile so we should seriously be looking at involving Jonas, Barton, N’Zogbia, and maybe even Nacho, dont know the current situation on him though

This would be my team v WBA, same formation Chelsea are using today!!

    ………………Given

    ……..Bassong..Coloccini
    Baye………………..……Enrique
    …………….Guthrie
    …….Barton…………Duff
    Jonas…………………….Nzogbia

    …….………Martins

Subs > Harper, Butt, Geremi, Ameobi, Xisco, Taylor, Ranger.

Please give me some feedback on this team, coz I feel that this is a really good side and attacking formation. I don’t see why Kinnear can’t see it!?

JJ glad you’re another one who can see Shola had a great game yesterday, however i’ll disgaree about Martins. Martins, IMO, was possibly our worst player. People are saying he didn’t have service, Shola didn’t have service but ran at their defence and often made something of it, which Martins should have been doing but wasn’t.

for newcastle to move forward,we have to start weeding out the trash players at newcastle.
what i liked about keegan was he realised straight away that shola was no good.
shola is now taking over the terry mac black box tag,i really wish he was gone from this club.
he is what i call a lifestyle footballer,he wants the trappings but doesn,t want to do anything for it.
dont get me wrong the lad has not done bad lately, but overall i think the toon should be operating at a higher level,so this means people like shola should have no future here.

It is a sad state of affairs when we’re relying on a striker, who but for a failed medical in the summer, would now be plying his trade at the wrong end of the Championship. If that move to Ipswich had gone through (and by God I wish it had) Ameobi would still have been out of his depth. How he ever made it as a top flight professional footballer is one of life’s great mysteries. What does he ever bring to the team other than the ability to control a ball further than most players can kick it. Yesterday was, his goal apart, a typical Ameobi performance. He was Sunderland’s best defender, he was responsible for breaking up more Newcastle attacks than the entire opposition back four put together. I just wish I’d had a quid for every time I’ve seen a promising Newcastle attack fall apart once the ball has been given to Ameobi. Just because he’s been spouting his mouth off yet again doesn’t mean we’ll see anything other than the usual ineptitude from him on Tuesday night. How I laugh when I recall his comments about becoming a 20 goal a season England World Cup striker a few years ago. We were awful yesterday and were lucky not to lose by a bigger margin. If Sunderland had won 4-1 none of us could have had any complaints. West Brom are above us in the table and are there on merit. We have conceded at least 2 goals in every one of our last nine matches. We will do well to get a draw on Tuesday night.

    Actually, I’d rather laugh.

If Barton and Jonas don’t start in their favoured positions on Tuesday, im gonna find out where JK lives and confront him. We CANNOT afford another idiot like SA ballsing up our chances by playing a patheticly inadequate team.
I like JK, and i really hope he sees what we all see: that Barton is the best midfielder we have got, is fit and hungry to play. That Jonas is essential to adding flair and creativity. Guthrie must be our holding player.

Butt has to be a bench player, as does Geremi. I would actually rather Nzogbia played ahead of Guthrie, allowing Barton to play the box to box role, protecting the defence but running with the ball on the break. Unleash the Zog to attack and keep Jonas and Duff tracking back.
That would be what i would do, but hey its not my call … unfortunatly 🙁

The blyth and wansbeck league is a good sunday league, type blyth and wansbeck into google, and he can contact the league chairman via the website, theres teams from ashington, blyth, north shields, burradon, bedlington, whitley bay. And its a decent standard

Shola was great against Man City. Our midfield were so poor on Saturday and were completely overrun. Gutherie’s early booking did not help – especially when you consider the bad tackles after that which didn’t get a card.
