Newcastle’s interim manager Joe Kinnear thinks that captain Michael Owen will be ready for the Aston Villa game a week today.
Joe told Sky Sports News today:
“Michael Owen I’m hoping will be in contention for the Aston Villa match,” “We will have to monitor that day by day to be honest.” “Mark Viduka is obviously six or seven weeks off and obviously they are top-class players.”
“This game on Tuesday night has become massive and not just to eradicate that result. We want to get people looking forward and thinking forward.” “We can’t dwell on it. I’m not trying to rub out the importance of it or the disappointment of it – no one was more disappointed than myself.”
“You do get knocks in life and we’ve got to show we’re bigger than that. It was a really low dressing room after that game, but we sat down and spoke about it, and we’ve got to put that away and get on with the game on Tuesday night.”
“It’s a must-win for us. I am an optimistic person and if we were to win our next two home games that would put a completely different slant on everything from now on.”
We really hope the fans will turn up and give the team their full support tomorrow night. It’s remarkable what a win can do for the spirits, and then we can prepare well for the Aston Villa game, which will be a very difficult game.
Villa are now so much better than when Martin O’Neil took over a few seasons back. Such a pity we couldn’t lure him to St. James’ Park.
But we can still get a result against them at home.
What do you think – comments always welcome.
