Kinnear – We Need To Win Next Two Games

Newcastle’s interim manager Joe Kinnear thinks that captain Michael Owen will be ready for the Aston Villa game a week today.

Michael Owen – let’s hope he makes it for Villa game

Joe told Sky Sports News today:

“Michael Owen I’m hoping will be in contention for the Aston Villa match,” “We will have to monitor that day by day to be honest.” “Mark Viduka is obviously six or seven weeks off and obviously they are top-class players.”

“This game on Tuesday night has become massive and not just to eradicate that result. We want to get people looking forward and thinking forward.” “We can’t dwell on it. I’m not trying to rub out the importance of it or the disappointment of it – no one was more disappointed than myself.”

“You do get knocks in life and we’ve got to show we’re bigger than that. It was a really low dressing room after that game, but we sat down and spoke about it, and we’ve got to put that away and get on with the game on Tuesday night.”

“It’s a must-win for us. I am an optimistic person and if we were to win our next two home games that would put a completely different slant on everything from now on.”

We really hope the fans will turn up and give the team their full support tomorrow night. It’s remarkable what a win can do for the spirits, and then we can prepare well for the Aston Villa game, which will be a very difficult game.

Villa are now so much better than when Martin O’Neil took over a few seasons back. Such a pity we couldn’t lure him to St. James’ Park.

But we can still get a result against them at home.

What do you think – comments always welcome.

yes JK is rite, we must get a minimum of 4 points, 6 would be great, but AV are playing very well at the minute!! got to start quickly tomorrow, with Jonas and Barton starting, and i’d like to see Nzogbia giving a role, we miss his pace and threat!!

why dont you get your self to the gym, attend newcastle matches for real (not via weblinks) and get yersel a lass.

Having Viduka back by xmas will be a huge boost, almost as much as having Owen back. He might have knack all pace, but the way he holds the ball up allowing the midfield to join in the attack gives us much more scoring opportunities from all around the park.

I hardly think it was rocket science to predict Spurs winning Bolton at home, But Tom_Toon is a pleb if he said otherwise.

If Spurs get another point out of Arsenal, Liverpool and City over the next couple of weeks then they’ll be doing OK.

I cannot believe that people are so negative we will never get relegated this season for a start WBA, Bolton, Fulham, Stoke, Boro and Spurs will be worse off come the end of the season, You could also see Hull having an awful run as they wont keep up this pace and i still doubt they will finish top half.

We will defo beat West Brom and we can certainly beat Villa if Owen is back and having a fully match fit Barton and Jonas will help for both matches.

C’Mon lets have a bit of positive thinking, The mackems would never beat a side containing Owen, Viduka, Barton and Gutierrez they got us at a good time and come the end of January when we are in the top half with KK back on his throne and have a full side back for the home match we will show them whos boss.

i agree that hull will have a bad run, and we are better than quite alot of teams if we can get jonas, barton, owen and maybe a fully fit viduka involved at the same time. just seems we lack massively in the squad department. people like (in my opinion) bassong, smith, ameobi (but hes doing well at the minute) geremi and a few other arent good enough. and when thet play we look below average. just a shame we didnt add 4 more players in pre season with real quality and we could have challenged for 7th place. my prediction this season is 10th and thats hoping we strenghten quite heavily in january. fingers crossed.

Craigg, agree with you there you could probably throw Wigan into the mix as well, especially when manu and liverpool raid them for their best players in jan. I’ve been studying our seasons fixtures and have estimated in my view that we could end up with 39 points by way of 8 more wins, 9 draws and 12 defeats. Looking at the last 5 years of teams that have been relegated
    07/08 Reading 36pts
    06/07 Sheff utd 38pts
    05/06 B’ham 34 pts
    04/05 Palace 33 pts
    03/04 Leicester 33 pts

It would be interesting to see what everyone else’s predictions are. Personally i think we could stay up with 36 points.
