Amazing events at White Hart Lane may have not gone unnoticed by Joe Kinnear this morning.
Gus Poyet – can he help Joe out at Newcastle?
Spurs replaced manager Juande Ramos with Harry Redknapp on Saturday, and of course Harry was very close to taking the Newcastle United job only last January.
We’re sure Harry will make a big difference at the London club, and he’s already made a winning start to his tenure there by winning 2-0 against Bolton yesterday, for their very first win of the season. Well at least Spurs fans will be happy this morning.
Gus Poyet is now available, and it may be that Joe Kinnear will approach Gus to see if he is willing to come up to Newcastle and help him out with the coaching over the next 5 weeks or so at Newcastle.
It may even work for Gus, who can get his mind off being sacked, and get involved in what will be a big challenge for him. We like Gus a lot, because he seems to have so much spirit and is obviously great with the players, having played the game himself at the highest level.
We have a very very thin coaching staff which is another reason we need to give Joe, Chris and the other coaches all the support we can muster in these very uncertain times. The 40 year-old Poyet is of course Uruguayan, and we have Ignacio Gonzalez from Uruguay currently at the club.
Come to think of it, Ignacio should be recovered from his Achilles injury very soon and we wonder if there are any Uruguayan restaurants in Newcastle these days? :D.
We hope that Dennis Wise or Mike Ashley can help to get Poyet to the club to help Joe with the coaching side of things – that’s only if Joe wants that help of course.
Comments very welcome – but please keep them decent – thanks.

Comment #42Why are people playing harper?
And you know taylor wont be dropped.
but our best team for wba is
——————-Given—————–
——————————————-
–Beye—-Colo—Taylor—–Bassong-
——————————————-
—Jonas———Guthrie———Duff-
——————-Barton—————
——————————————
————-Martins—-Xisco———-
Ameobi will probably start though because of his good performances(which i think he has) but xisco just needs a chance to shine!
Taylor wont let anyone down on a day like tomorrow because he has experience.
Geremi is a good player his crossing has improved alot it’s just he’s nowhere near jonas’s level.
Butt might not get left out because he captained our previous games but our only hope is his injury!
Gonazalez is good and needs to be given time like xisco and maybe poyet can be hired as a translator? lol 😀
who agrees?

First of why did we sell Faye? By miles better than Taylor.
And from the players who we now have available I would defo pick Cacapa; he played 2 games and did not play bad at all.
So Cacapa, Bassong, Edgar or a kid as long as I don’t see Taylor anymore, cause I really have seen enough of that clown.

Comment #47Collo’s hardly immense! – he can’t friggin head the ball!
Agree Taylor is def the weak link tho – Nacho has gone sick note almost as soon as he appeared so I’m obviously not judging him on seeing him play (the new marcelino) Xisco is hardly the new Torres
Faye put in a transfer request – you can hardly blame Ashley and co for that
Obafan – you have a short memory – remember Portsmouth – Cacapa was terrible in that game!

Comment #50harper allt he way, givens really startin ta pull my pi$$er abit now…we cant win against sunderbland bla bla bull$hit..we do good…ow look…lets let a goal in…given is not as good as everyone thinks…he is over dramatic with saves, and therefore looks good, he doesnt do the job, reasons why harper is ebtter:
1)he organises the defence, and a solid defence has a domino effect ont he midfield, which then goes to the strikers, you can build a multistory building if the ground floor is unstable
2) he catches the ball
3)he does the basics better
4)he doesnt gtive the ball away needlessly
5)he is toon through and through and shows passion, which is what we need, the same reasonw hy keegan, shearer, beardsly, ect all were succeses here
6) he is bigger
7) he doesnt give negative comments to the media, and give a negative effect to the team, if yout hink you cant win, youw ont win, simpel as
8) statistics show harper lets in less goals per game on average
9) when harper does play, he always has an amzing run int he side, last season he kept us up
10…do i need to say more?

i’m not slaggin’ Shay, i’m just pointin’ out the fact of games played, goals conceded…& some have been Shays fault, i’m afraid…
…I’m not sayin’ Harper’s gods-gift either, but maybe a change is apt…
…JJ, i’m not really talkin’ about the scum game…I’m basin’ my view on recents games…
…& I’m fed up with Shay showin’ a lack of imagination when it comes to distributin’ the ball…In the manc game especially, he just kept givin’ it back to them & puttin’ us under pressure…Harper tends to roll it out & build from the back…Colo is good on the ball, so that’s what we should be doin’!..

i totally agree mate…& i think y’right about Harper organizin’ Taylor & the back four better…Last year, when he came in, the back 4 seemed more confident with him than Shay!..
…Just an observation!..
…& what’s more, why was he dropped?..He was playin’ well & the team was doin’ well!..
…I remember our coaches sayin’ no favoritism, form players play…But soon as Shay was fit, he was in the team, when Harper did nowt wrong & his form was great!..& correct me if i’m wrong but, goals shipped says it all for a keeper, doesn’t it?..
…Or is it past glories & rep that wins thru?..

Comment #56punk skunk, i was thinkin the same thing, no matter how bad we play, no matter how close to relegation, no matter how many goals conceded, we wont drop shay, and no matter how well were playin, how many clean sheets, we willa lways drop harper, its frustrating, shay is a good keeper, i jsut feel harper is better, and with a good run could impress mr capello, as he is certainly better than james
has an1 else noticed the fact given keeps a clean sheet about as often as a sexually frustarted teenage boy?

Comment #58Could be the reason Arry refused the job here is the fact he was informed there was a new management system in place (football director) of course being Arry he used the excuse he was happy living in Portsmouth.
Apparently Ramos accepted the managers role knowing fully that Spurs had that same system in place, the result being he had to accept as did Keegan players he did`nt particularly want and refused players he did want.
Which relegated Ramos to picking the team, tactics and cheerleading, same with KK.
Apparently before accepting the Spurs job Arry insisted on being , “the man” , who was in charge of the team including any transfer activity, the rest is history.
Question arises, it seems there are a number of continental teams who employ the football director roll, as apposed to the manager in full charge, which is the prevelant system in the Pl.
I for one fail to see the point of paying big bucks for managerial skills (building a team) then relegating the man to a cheerleading role.
Ps, it was never quite clear whether KK was informed he would`nt be the final word on incoming players, he apparently knew as did Arry of the football director role.

Comment #59The DOF system can only work where there is 100% trust and respect between the DOF and the Manager – and they work very closely together. That way the manager is fully involved and has the final say in decisions about who we are going for, and once the list is agreed, its the DOFs job to get out there and get the targets in – leaving the manager to get on with the other stuff.
Therefore no way this was going to work with a cnut like the poison dwarf sitting in his ivory tower in London totally ignoring what Sir Kevin wanted (eg a left back….)

Comment #60Cant believe how everyone is looking for a sacrificial goat , Colocinni cant use his head, Taylor is useless, put Harper in goal(like he could have saved the free kick) Ameobi scores two goals in two games and he`s useless, Martins played lousy, not to to mention Duff who though playing terrific from the seasons start still gets stick.
How long will it take before the mob starts beying for JK`s blood.
Yeah, take a good look at whats in these blogs, take a look at yourselves, nothing but negativity.
Its no wonder the club is so hard to sell ,who wants to take on a club where the fans have hounded numerous managers and the last two owners out of town.
Its unprecidented in the history of sport.

Comment #61no chuck, maybe harper might not have saved the free kick, but he might have, we’ll never know, one thing is for sure, if harper was in goal, that free kick wouldnt have happend, the game wouldve beend ifferent, and chances are we wouldve won

Comment #62Chuck – agreed, this board is full of whingers.
btw: of course Arry knew he would have no say in players, everyone including KK knew we were going to have a director of football.
As for the team – I think we’ll be alright although anyone thinking we’re ever going to challenge for a top six slot with this team is sadly mistaken – I’ll be more than happy with a top half finish both this season and next

i agree man…I reckon Harper is well better than the choices Capello has…He just needs a run of games…We’re talkin’ about nationalisin’ overseas goalies…That says it all really!..
…Sorry you others, i’m not slaggin’ Shay. I’m just sayin’ it looks like he ain’t commandin’ the box, bad distribution & the back line seems scared…& it wasn’t like that with Harper in there…I’m not lookin’ for scapegoats…Bottom line is: i want NUFC to start winnin’ & stop shippin’ all the avoidable goals!..
…& i’m sure that if we went & checked we’d find that our goal keepin’ in the last 10 games or so has not been the best!..
…It just pisses me off that people still vote Shay motm when we lose shippin’ goals & always blame the out field players…It isn’t always the back 4 to blame!..
…Colo is playin’ well…& so is Ameobi, can’t argue with 2/2…

Most committed player to the NUFC cause besides Shearer.
Had the chance to go elsewhere and didn’t take them and has stayed with us with the very real chance that he will end his career without winning anything.

harper is our longest serving playerm, a toon supporter through and through, and do you really thinks hay would stay that long if he was on the bench….get real
im not slaggin him off he’s a world class keeper id just prefer to see harper given the chace n shay to realise hes not as good as he thinks he is, the only reason shay egts picked by every manager is because hell throw his toys out the pram if he is dropped, like last time, whereas harper is much more proffesional and commited and will stick through thick and thin

Ricardsons goal – not one keeper in the league would’ve saved that goal.
I’m not saying Shay should be picked because of his commitment but obviously Harper doesn’t cut it in training.
