Joe Kinnear has said today that he hopes the atmosphere tonight at St. James’ Park, is as good as it was at our last home against against Man City, when the Newcastle fans were no less than magnificent in their support of our team.
Joe thought the atmosphere last Monday evening was just phenomenal, and he told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:
“Joey Barton will start. I’m hoping the supporters will get behind him.” “I thought when he came at Sunderland on Saturday he did very well. He’s a great passer of the ball. He’s got vision, and can score a goal or two himself.”
“His first thought is to go forward, and they tell me his only goal for us was his penalty at Fulham last season. What we would give for that to change tonight.” “I hope the fans will be in the same voice as they were against Manchester City at St James’ Park last Monday night.”
“The Man City experience was phenomenal. The derby was special, but Man City at home was 10 times more so because of our supporters.” “I thought the atmosphere at the derby was second best.”
This is a massive game for the team tonight, especially since the appointment of Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane no doubt will soon see Spurs climbing up the league table.
But it’s always has to be up to us to get ourselves out of trouble, and let’s start tonight with 3 points.
