Bolton Win So Newcastle Go Bottom Of League

The weekend of surprise results continued this afternoon at the Reebok Stadium where bottom placed Bolton were worthy winners over Manchester City 2-0 this afternoon.

Gary Megson – got the very maximum out of his players today

Newcastle are now bottom of the league but only on goal difference, after Tottenham’s amazing win against Liverpool yesterday, when they got an injury time winner at home, against the league leaders.

Manchester City again looked less than convincing against Bolton, who at the end of the game got two good goals to take a welcome 3 points, for their third win of the season and Bolton now move up to 17th place in the league.

It’s such a pity we had Habib Beye sent off against Man City, because it looks like we lost 2 points in that game, but that’s now water under the bridge, and we have to get on with things, and keep positive too.

We hope Newcastle will be bottom for a very short time, like the end of the game tomorrow night against Aston Villa, and if the weekend results continue tomorrow night, we should be able to get off the bottom with a result against Villa.

Certainly teams that won over the weekend, like Spurs, Stoke, Wigan and Bolton all showed tremendous fight and spirit, and we expect Newcastle to show that same spirit in tomorrow night’s game.

But we need the help of our fans to support Joe and the players, and just forget any politics currently going on at the club – let’s concentrate on helping the lads win some games.    😀

We hope we get a great turnout tomorrow night, and certainly during the last two home games our fans have just been absolutely fantastic!  That’s worth a point for a start.

If we win tomorrow night we will climb up to 14th place, just above Sunderland on goal difference, and that can’t be bad.

Howay The Lads!!

I really don’t care about the other results to be honest, I think the table’s so tight right now and we need to just think about winning the next game and then move forward, We have a good team! We deserve to be in the top half, lets support our team all out to get there!!

If we’re bottom come January 1st then maybe we should start to worryThis could be the tightest and most interesting relegation scrap since the inception of the Premiership. Will 40 points be enough to ensure safety??.

In the last 10 years only 1 team has gone down with more than 38 points that was west ham in 02/03 they ended up with 42 points. Last week i worked my way through our remaining fixtures and reckoned we could end up with 39 points. whether thats enough this seasson is anyones guess.

Its gonna be a crystal clear draw tomorow.

2-2….Martins and Barton for Nufc and Barry & Carew for Villa.

It’s quite ironic you should mention tony green, terry hibbit and supermac because when they arrived we were rock bottom at the time, very early 70’s i think, it was before xmas and had only won a couple of games to boot. Tony Green would have been an all time legend if it wasn’t for his knee injury, over the years we’ve had some brilliant Scots play for us.

skin d-gotta agree with you mate.
Yes its early in the season but like i said on a previous post, the spuds will start to pull away from the bottom 3 i reckon, and as TERRYHIBBIT says, will the points tally to keep you up increase with the quality in the poorer teams of the league progressivly getting better season after season.
All i know lads, is we’re well and truly up a certain creek without a paddle just now, and i’d kill for a win tomorrow night.

Nice to hear some great names from the past. My mate Peter Kelly who was a defender for us in the 80s was partners with Terry Hibbitt, they had a newsagents. Terry was a great player, we could do with him right now. I still speak to Alan Guy, ex centre forward for the toon in the 80s and we just cant believe where the club is at at the mo. What I dont like is fans having a go at other fans views. We are all entitled to say what we feel at the match, the amount of times I’ve almost lost my season ticket through coming close to bashing some loud mouth prick who sits there telling you what you can and cant say, well its happened many times. The club is a total mess, I just dont know how we are going to get out of this mess, fingers crossed !! I do know there are players leaving in January thats for sure, they’ve told me !!

weve done it before with them…but, thatw as with keegan…and i cant see him coming back to save us againw ith these guys here, the thing i dont get is if ashleys leavin anyway why doesnt he just get the guys of the payroll and go…they cost money to pay…they will knock the rpice down for future buyers…and if he got keegan back he mie get one last game to watch before he leaves…doesnt make any sense, i dotn think he really has any plans to leave…

If we win tommorow we are only 3 points off 7th place, which doesn’t look so bad on paper. It remains to be seen how the players will react to going bottom today, we will see who has the guts to fight for our club. Saying that i have absolutely no confidence in Kinnear’s tactics and ability to coach our better players, the sooner we appoint a permanent manager the better.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS WE NEED CLEAN SHEETS , NO GOALS AGAINST , AND THEN SEE WHAT HAPPENS UP FRONT , BUT IF WE KEEP ON LEAKING AT THE BACK WE ARE ….DOOOOON…..
