Chris Hughton – Our Results Have Been OK

Chris Hughton spoke to Setanta Sports after last night’s game when Joe Kinnear was not available after losing his voice as he shouted instructions at the players, and probably something else to the officials.    😀

Chris with Joe – excellent partnership for Newcastle

Last night saw Newcastle’s first successive league wins of the season, and stretched to eight the number of points Newcastle have picked up in 5 games under Joe Kinnear, in a short 5 weeks at Newcastle.

Chris talked after the game to Setanta Sports, who broadcast the game live around the world:

“It is a big win, particularly after the weekend which wasn’t a particularly good one for us with regard to results. We felt we needed to get something from the game to go on and get some confidence in the lads, so it was important that we won.”

“It’s such a tough game and every game is a tough one. We go from the position that we were in before the weekend, then everybody winning at the weekend and find ourselves in the position that we did.”

“At the moment our results have been okay,” “I think it’s important to get confidence from results and climbing away from the foot of the table.” “What you want to do is improve. We knew where we were before the game and we knew we needed to improve.”

“We know where we are now and what we now have with this group of lads is the opportunity to improve even more.”

And improve we can, if we can keep our feet on the ground our next two games are winnable, against Fulham away on Sunday at 4:00pm local time. And then the following Saturday we have Wigan Athletic at home, on 15th November with a 3:00 pm KO.

6 points from those two games could have us nicely placed before we have to tackle mighty Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 22nd November, which we are told could be D (decision) day for the Newcastle club.

Comments very welcome.

Hats off to jk and chris houghton! Were might we have been right now if jk had not come in…whatever happens from here on in he will always be well thought of up here for coming in and taking a job nobody else wanted! We now go to fulham with confidence and if we can pick up at least a point (hopefully 3) another home win against wigan should see us climbing the league! Im still buzzing today after last nights game! I loved every min of it and st. James was rocking! And can anyone remind me who were above?

First game I have really enjoyed for years. I thought we were magnificent. Spidey and Duff were outstanding, Shola has been turned into the new Emile Heskey, Barton is reborn, Colo is turning out to be be brill!

FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE…..CANT THINK OF ANYONE WHO DIDNT PLAY REALLY WELL , LETS HOPE WE CAN KEEP ALL THE LADS FIT AND ON THAT PERFORMANCE THERE ISNT A NYREASON FOR US NOT CLIMBING QUICKLY UP THE LEAGUE. WHERE ARE WE GONNA FIT OWEN IN – ONLY SLOT I CAN THINK OF IS PLACE OF BUTT- BUT HE WAS EXCELLENT LAST NIGHT TOO.

Sorry to bring the high down a bit but Shola was still doing his usual at times last night and was off the pace and half asleep. Its working progress and I think he will just get better and better.

JFK aint stupid and he knows that we need someone to replace owen.

Sorry toon Graeme m8…you must have been watching something different to me! Shola dominated an outstanding centre half in laursen last night. He bullied him and won a lot of headers in the air! For me he is really putting in some performances for the shirt right now and people should begin to say to the lad “well done son”… He’s come in for enourmous criticism but he is finally beginning to answer that on the pitch…Well done to JK for this….Bring on Fulham 🙂 x

Blah, blah, Jk should be given the job fulltime…Blah, blah, Barton should be banned…Blah, blah, shola’s not all that…Blah, blah, i can still find shit to moan about…
…Why isn’t villas defense painted as sh*te?..Whrere were they for the goals…All ower the place, shambolic…Oh!..Thought not, villa are great top 4/5 blah, blah…Well if that’s 5th, whey hey!..

…Just gotta keep up that effort & determination against the ‘so called’ lesser teams(media’s view) comin’ up & not go thinkin’ we deserve to win without tryin’!..
    …Ho’way the Lads!..
