Joe Kinnear seems to be acting like a father to Joey Barton, and Joe talks to him every day, and Joey would be well advised to listen closely to Joe, because his advice is spot on.
Joey Barton – Joe talks to him every day
Kinnear talked about Joey today:
“None of this is going to go away. Joey is playing with all this stuff over his head and it is coming back to haunt him and the only way he can answer his critics is to play good football.”
“He has to just be himself and play as well as he has been. He was outstanding the other night.” “When he came on against Sunderland, he got stories for the wrong reason, and again, it marred his performance. What happened the other night was unfortunate.”
“But the thing is with Joey, he has got good character. I speak to him on a daily basis and I have spoken to him and said, ‘You are in the limelight, you can’t afford to give them what they are looking for. You are a silly boy.”
“But he is so competitive. He is a winner, and like all competitors and winners, they sometimes over-step the mark because of their nature.” “He has got to control that and once he manages to do that, then he is as good as most midfielders around in the Premier League.”
“He is a winner for sure, so I don’t ever want him to lose that. I don’t want him to lose the fact that he has that winning mentality, I don’t want that to be taken away from him.”
“But he has been battered from pillar to post and I have got to make sure I keep him in the right frame of mind.” “I don’t want it to get to him, all this stuff that is going on around him.” ‘He has to live with it, we know that, but he also has to focus on playing good football.”
And more news of the wrong kind for Joey, in that Liverpool County Court District Judge Michael Baker has agreed a request from Phil Alcock, representing Barton who was not present, that he be allowed to question Jordan Spencer, 17, when the case finally comes to trial.
Jordan was physically attacked by Barton, and was left with scars to his face and mouth, after his jaw had been broken. The teenager is suing Barton for damages over the incident.
Richard Edwards was representing Mr Spencer and a surgeon had prepared an expert report on the youngster’s injuries. Edwards said:
“The scar on Mr Spencer’s lip can be seen from six foot away.”
“There is a (second) scar on his lip which may indicate the presence of a foreign body, and damage to one of his upper left teeth which dentists have said is now dead.”
The assault took place in the Liverpool city center at around 5:15 am, on December 27th last year, after Barton had been drinking heavily. He was found guilty and served a four-month prison sentence earlier this year, with the altercation being caught fully on CCTV cameras.
The Jordan Spencer case was adjourned to an unspecified date, some time after April 30 next year. But wouldn’t it be better to try to get these things over with – we know the wheels of justice turn slowly, but this is ridiculous.

Joey has to learn to control his anger, there are those who will take advantage by winding him up and with his reputation both he and the team will ultimately suffer.
As far asKatsbaia is concerned, dont think so,
smacks of looking for a messianic savior.
Give him some time in a competetive league, see how he does (yeah I know he drew with Morinhos Milan) Walthamstow ave. and Bishop Auckland went to the final rounds of the FA cup,
did that mean they should have had 1st. Div. jobs ?
In any case , you want to get rid of joe is it ?
If JC himself came to manage the team, it would take one game before some of you wanted him fired.
Tough crowd !

Is this a different case to the one where Joey has already served a term inside. If not why is it still hanging around, I for one thought it was done and dusted. If it is something different then it has to be odds on he will go down again. Just when we (and he) were seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
Ketsbai has said he is interested but not in the short term, I would surprised if he was a front runner under new management.

I think Joey needs a strong character like JFK to keep him on the straight and narrow. He could be a legend for us, and if he gets better than the Villa game, then we have a very good player indeed. Almost world class, barre a couple of ingredients..
Ed Harrison, some of the ads on your site are blatant spyware, surely you can not be that desperate? Your reputation is dwindling, hence the steady decline in posts.. I for one would donate if it meant getting rid of the piss poor, and dangerous, adverts..

Joey is relly starting to blossom under JK. How about this for a newcastle back room staff:
Manager: Kevin Keegan
Assistant managers: Joe kinnear, terry mcdermot, temuri ketsbia
First team coaches: Chris houghton, Alan Shearer, lee clark
Assitant team coaches: Rob lee, gary speed
Fitness: Robbie elliot
Goalkeeping coach: Paul Barron

This is a civil case against Joey now the Criminal case has been put to bed. The youth with the tooth is after some money, well he’s going to isnt he? Joey has emerged as a very special player for us . He’s bright and wow what a player. its no coincidence that Keegans turning point came when Barton came back to the side. Remember the 4-1 away to spuds? and the 3-0 against Reading the following week. This Guy makes the difference. Got balls, loads of character, vision, touch, full of ideas. We will miss him if he screws up again. Kinnear must tell him to hurt people with the ball. Might appeal to him!
16 Bill F (Original) // Nov 7, 2008 at 8:59 PM
Ah, that makes sense, I wondered if it might be. It will probably hit is pocket but won’t be going down.
I hope all the news from now on is nice and positive, I think we have had more than our fair share of sh*te. It still rankles that we were the ones to suffer for Joey’s misdemeanours rather than ManC.

18 KK FOREVER (Ross) // Nov 7, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Kinnear seems like the perfect character to help Barton at this time if im honest.
He seems to have been a bit of a hot head himself in the past, but now is more sensible, yet still able to speak his mind.
Barton needs to do exactly the same, put his past behind him and channel his agression into his football, he could be fantastic for us.
On another note, Owen is presenting an award at the europe music awards in liverpool, ridiculous.

Totally off topic. I was born and bred in Newcastle but fell for the charms of a scouse girl while in the Army,so i ended up living in Liverpool. Anyway i was out tonight and got talking to a load of Liverpool fans about Keegan coming back. I was and still(probably) am dead against him coming back but the thieves put across such a great argument about football being all about money and managers not caring about the fans or the players. Basically they think we need people like Keegan in football and believe me it took me back to the good times. Sorry had a bit too much wine but what do people think??????

Joey makes enough bank to sort this kids problems out. Give him 50,000 ( not even one weeks pay) to get his lips sorted out by a plastic surgeon and his tooth fixed by a dentist. He’ll then have plenty left over to go and party so he can wander around drunk at 5.30 looking good as he should be allowed to.
I do think he is in the midfield to stay and thankfully his form is good enough for him to be there. Let see him boss fullham about and hit some more passes to martins

41 KK FOREVER (Ross) // Nov 8, 2008 at 12:25 AM
areet lads, my only concern with owen going is the fact that even though he doesnt play regularly, when he does play he scores, and the goals he has scored at times have been rather important to us.
he could go on a free, or for next to nowt, so can we find a cheap replacement who can take the chances like he does?
He’s clearly not worth the money we’re giving him purely down to injury and the fact he doesnt play enough, but when he does, he scores, and we’re greatful for it.
42 xfer // Nov 8, 2008 at 1:39 AM
I would love to have Ketsbaia. No doubt he is doing a fantastic job there.
43 51times // Nov 8, 2008 at 6:37 AM
xfer – We’re in a bit of a mess, so when the new owners come in I wouldn’t mind Ketsbaia at all, I think people would welcome him back.
44 Guinea Mag // Nov 8, 2008 at 7:00 AM
Barton will face a barage of abuse from away fans at every game and rightfully deserved. What he did was wrong and must now show composure to rise above it.
I hope he can, but don’t see this leopard changing his spots; i.e. raised his hands to the Villa player last Monday and could easily have been sent off.
He has so much talent; just hope he takes this chance as the Newcastle fans will back him all the way on the park if he performs!!!!!
45 AO // Nov 8, 2008 at 8:52 AM
I see the papers are picking up on the Owen leaving story 1 week after i said on here he was off. He is 100% going to be a spurs player in january. Expect the papers to break the story on sunday. The chelsea rumours are rubbish. Would he go there and sit on the bench after leaving madrid because he wasnt playing?
46 toony // Nov 8, 2008 at 9:01 AM
i think the new owners should go with people who are geordies or has a history with the the toon and would prefer the next generation.
chairman: Kevin Keegan, good comunicator.
manager: Temur Ketsbaia
Ass manager: Alan Shearer
First team coaches: gary speed, rob lee, lee clarke and so on.
then shearer takes over Temur and Gary Speed becomes assistan man. I would love it, dont know if it would work though
47 The Entertainers // Nov 8, 2008 at 9:29 AM
Its good to hear JFK calling a spade a spade, hopefully Barton will appreciate the frankness and respond positively.
JFK certainly has the experience dealing with so called bad boys from his Don days. My concern is he is relatively inexperienced with star players like Owen and may not have that pull when it comes to keeping the likes of Owen or even recruiting new players (then again that would be down to Wise at the moment)
48 HAMMY14 // Nov 8, 2008 at 12:27 PM
I always said after the West Brom win theres a minimum of 7 points to be had the only bobey we would have would be Aston Villa but as we beat them 6 points is not hard at all
