Now Philip Anschutz Denies Any Newcastle Interest

We seem to be finding out a lot more about the potential buyers for Newcastle, or at least who they are not, since now Los Angeles Galaxy owner Philip Anschutz has come out denied having any interest in buying the club.

Philip Anschutz – no interest in buying Newcastle United

Anschutz, who is the 31st richest person in America, was reported to be one of the two US-based consortiums looking to buy the famous Premier League club. The other one was reportedly led by Clark Hunt, who has also recently denied any interest in buying Newcastle.

Anschutz’s AEG company  issued a statement that confirms that they not in any talks about buying Newcastle.

The statement is as follows:

“Neither AEG nor anyone affiliated with the organisation are in negotiations or are contemplating the purchase of Newcastle United Football Club,”

This doesn’t say we do not have two interested parties, only that we have no idea now who they are.

But we have to start thinking the chances of getting a buyer for the club before the January transfer window are starting to recede, and Ashley should put together a Plan B, in case he cannot sell the club before next summer.

What do you think?

Comments very welcome.

Taken from the Chron….. “However, I hear a consortium from Spain is also in the market – but they could have a trump card in that the person trying to broker the deal is a Geordie businessman born and bred in the heart of Newcastle.”

    Who could that be I wonder…… ?

This proves one thing. No one has a clue apart from the key players involved down south.

No point even speculating until offical news is released.

As for that little end paragraph by Anal ‘talk out my ar$e’Oliver. The man talks crap. Anyone watch Sunday Suppliment on SS on sunday. Yawn.

we will not hear who the 2 interested consortium’s are until a firm bid has been accepted . These deals are usually done behind closed doors . i never believed that the 2 Americans that have denied interest in Newcastle United where ever in the race . Why would they when they have ownership of sports teams in America , Think about the wage bills they already have on there hands . Who ever the 2 consortium’s are they probably do not have a sports team and are looking to make money in the EPL because it costs less to buy an English football club than an NBA , NFL or ice hockey team in the states .

This also tends to reinforce the conspiracy theory that Ashley has no intention of selling – hence the charm offensive lately…….

I think Ashley has every intention of selling up but, he is in no particular rush to do so. Why else would he be employing Keith Harris ( he could not afford Orville too! 🙂 ) That can not be a cheap exercise – so I think we just have to bide our time.

Take no notice of tabloid rubbish they have no real news to report so they just make it up !

    Keep the faith !!!!

After just seeing that poison dwarf Denis Wise at St James Park on Sky, I am the gutt feeling that we are not being sold.

Why is the little gitt turning up all over the place at the moment, I think because we are not being sold end of

He should never be allowed to stay at St James’ park no matter what the outcome is.

Geordie Jayne the poison dwarf is still on the wage bill , so to justify his wages and to give the impression to would be buyers that the club is being managed properly he shows his ugly mug . Also i think if the club is not sold before January then they will use the milner transfer money to bring in another couple of players .

I hope I’m wrong but I think we are stuck with Ashley & co. for the foreseeable future. I can see us losing Owen, Given & a couple of others in January & getting relegated

Why are people so shocked by this?

The press know that 2 Americans are in the running (something which I told everyone last week which people didn’t believe) but they don’t know who, so they’re just putting 2+2 together and getting 5 by linking us with random American billionaires.

As I said last week when I told everyone 2 Americans were interested before it was even in the press, one of them is Paul Allen but I don’t know who the other one is.

hitman // Nov 12, 2008 at 16:35 – General Franco…. nah, he’s not close to them anymore – he had a little spat some years ago.

The wisdom is, let’s not speculate it’ll come out when it’s announced and my guts tell me it’ll be sooner rather than later.

Harris is probably managing folks’ expectations – normal practice in those situations.

C’mon all, we’re Nyucassel lald and lasses…. Nil deperandum carborundum!!

Ignorance is bliss , where tis folly to be wise (no pun intended)
I guess most are unaware of the enormity of the present situation.
In case anyone missed it we are beginning to enter a time of financial uncertainty unparalleled since the great depression.
I am sure the L`pool owners are in a desperate position and have no doubt will sell soon.
The Glazers at Man U. are leveraged to the max.
CFC owes its owner multi millions, Arsenal have a tremendous nut to crack every year, paying for the emirates stadium.
Its expected that the present meltdown will last well into the future, not good if you are attempting to unload a multi million pound football club.
Ashley first attempted to do the deal himself
(to save money) but found it was easier to buy than sell, now he has a pro doing the leg work.
Hoever even Kieth Harris is having a tough job unloading(whether due to an unrealistic price or simply the unavailability of capital from the banks)
So dont discount Ashley retaining ownership rather than sell at a loss .
Its frustrating for the fans, the not knowing.
As far as buyers,we have had the Nigerians, the South Africans, an Indian, various Gulf Arabs, US investors, you name it , followed by denials
from all concerned, whats that about ?
    What a mess, oy !

Sometimes it seems the only people prepared to treat the fans of nufc with honesty and a degree of respect are people with no connection to the place whatsoever. People like Anschutz, Hunt and the South African gadjee who rubbished stories of his involvement a few weeks ago.

Those we are stuck with appear to have no regard for the fans at all. Silence of the Llambias and the duplicitous MA.

For the record, I don’t speak to any reporter at the Evening Chronic and neither I nor any of my representatives have an interesting in buying NUFC. It takes me all my time to put together the season ticket dosh
