Still No Certainty Over Newcastle United Takeover

Seymour Pierce investment bank Chairman Keith Harris confirmed two parties are still leading the race for Newcastle, but it may be that one of them is not Dallas based Clark Hunt,  as previously thought.

Keith Harris said yesterday:

“There’s some serious parties interested and they are now having detailed discussions about the prospective takeover. However, we’re in a very turbulent world financially and there can be no certainty at this stage.”

“If the fans were to put themselves in the shoes of a prospective owner, during the course of a season you have one shot at changing the playing personnel and that’s the transfer window in January so I think there are probably two alternatives.”

“One, if matters can progress quickly then an owner would want to be in position to have a look at the squad and discuss it with the manager before January.”

“If that isn’t possible then they would have a look at what has happened during the course of the transfer window with a view to reforming the team after January.”

When asked about the news that Clark Hunt may be interested in Newcastle, FC Dallas spokesman German Sferra said yesterday:

“There’s nothing to it. They’re happy with the sports investments that they currently have.”

“They’re not pursuing Newcastle or any other sports franchise at this time.”

So it could still be possible that Philip Anschutz is one of the buyers, and another US buyer, but we have no idea who that may be – but we’re willing to be pleasantly surprised.

Oh well, it may be that Joe is still here come January, but let’s keep supporting him, the coaching staff and the players, since we need to keep winning games, and maybe we could even do well in the league during this extremely turbulent season.   What a concept.   😀

Comments welcome.

skysports are reporting that anschutz has catagorically denied any interested in the club.

so thats hunt and anschutz out the way, its frustrating because it seems the media are just handpicking american billionaires and writing false stories about their interest in newcastle.

If shearer is coming in, or any other manager for that matter, we need to move owen out (unless he signs a new deal) and spend at least 20 million or a few players.

Ed, Anschutz has distanced himself from the rumours about him taking over Newcastle. Well, he’s done more than that, he’s actually denied it.

    If it’s in the press…It’s bullsh…
…They’re not allowed to talk about it & they’re not gonna talk about it, if they mean business…

…So, seriously lads, ignore the bullsh, until somethin’ concrete happens…

Punk Skunk – I just said the same on another thread. No one other that those involved at the highest level will know who the players are.

    Bang on Graeme,
…No-one does business how the press would suggest!..
…But the old: ‘never let the truth get in the way…’etc…
…I know Ed’s just showin’ us what’s bein’ reported, ‘n all, but some people start believin’ it’s gospel & comment accordingly…Which can get tiresome…
…Wouldn’t it be great to wake up one mornin’ soon & find out that we’d been bought out?..
…I’m less bothered than ever by whom, i just want it done & dusted, so we, the fans can move on…Tho, i get the feelin’ that there’ll always be someone that has a problem, regardless of who buys Ashley out!?!..

Mark Cuban I tell ya, I have no basis whatsoever for that claim so…I am qualified to be a member of the English press.

I personally wouldn’t at all mind if MA just stayed and restarted his long-term policy for the club, with a couple of conditions. I think anger has softened slightly, from some fans antway, since the KK resignation. And those ASHLEY OUT-ER’s left should at least not be 100% closed-minded.
Anyway, one condition is that MA bite the bullet and stump up an intial 25-30M in January for JK or any new manager, but after that whoever is in charge should be aware of the system, that he may be more of a coach than a manager and that there may not be as much money for players after this season as he might like.

I’m on the fence over whether I’;d prefer a rich consortium take-over or not. Money doesn’t always work, and hasn’t for Man City yet – for example.

It could come to a point where the club is unsellable, where Ashley will have to stay as owner.
    Poetic justice for all concerned.

I have a friend who is from New York and she said that reports in America are that Larry Ellison is one of the interested parties. But she also said that Philip Anschutz is know as Philip Lier in the states, because everytime he denies something it happens..

    completely agree with GARYFRET.
To have fresh start we need new owner and new Board who are respecting fans and players, communicating with players and fans and who are not are liers.
