Joey Barton Out For Eight Weeks With Injured Knee

The worst possible news about Joey Bartons’ knee injury he picked up on Saturday, is that he will be out for eight weeks.    Oh no.    🙁

Joey Barton – out for up to 8 weeks

After being taken off after just 15 minutes on Saturday against Wigan Athletic, Joey Barton has been assessed by the Newcastle United medical team, and had a scan on his injured right knee yesterday.

But the news is hardly good, and it has been confirmed that Joey has damaged the medial ligament in his right knee. That’s not good news, and Joey will be out for eight weeks.

Does anybody know of any good news at all this morning about Newcastle?

This is numbingly bad news about a player who has looked very very good in the last few games.

Oh well, we must be going to get some good news soon – but this is more reason to bring in new players in the January transfer window.

Of course before then, we still have to sort out who will own the club at that time, and who the new permanent manager will be – picky picky.

Comments welcome.

We should get Park Ji-Sung. That lad should goes for pretty cheap and he can play anywhere across the midfield.

AO- F Off to Your Spurs Blog and leave ours alone. This is a huge blow to us as he was the only player in the centre of the pitch with some balls and quality. We need our own Gattuso back ASAP.

Marty-Butt is Injured – I agree with you I am extremely tired of all the ups and downs in this club. Every year there is a huge blow and we have to recover. EVERY FU££ING YEAR THERE IS SOMETHING BAD..when in the hell will there be good news for us!??????? I really hope this club kicks off soon because apparantly I am not the only one that is annoyed by all the false dawns on Tyneside, my patience is running exremely thin recently.

This is a huge blow…we’ll just have to do or best without him again!

Maybe JK should switch to the 4-3-3 now we have 3-4 fit strikers MO/Shola/Oba and start giving Duke&Ranger some minutes near the end of a game.

Funny isn’t it, that if it was Barton that’d injured a wigan player off the pitch inside 20 mins…It would’ve been endless, super-slo-mos & does this animal deserve a 93rd chance on the slysports et al…& a veritable witch-hunt in the rags!..But seein’ as it’s on Barton, no mention whatsoever in/on any of the said places?..
    …How balanced!?!..

To be honest Barton was getting the runaround on Saturday before he got injured, I still havent seen anything to suggest we will miss him that much.

Wow, could we be any more screwed. This is so bad. Our only hope to survive is if Ashley sells. If not, I will fear for us joining Leeds.

I am so gutted words can’t even describe it. He has been our best player since he came back, brought the grit and determination that Butt is too old to bring now without giving away pens and stupid free kicks. Get well soon Joey the Toon needs you lad.

Barton, who absolved Cattermole of any blame, was philosophical as he prepared for another enforced lay-off.

He said: “I am not blaming Lee Cattermole in any way for this injury. It was a 50-50 ball and we both went for it, and these things happen.

Fine words from Joey, but can you imagine how the press and perhaps even Cattermore himself would have reacted if the resulting injury had been to Cattermore instead?

Its a pity he didnt twat someobody on the way off, then he could have served his suspended sentence while he was recovering.
