Newcastle Back In For Stephen Warnock

It seems that Newcastle don’t give up until they get their man, since there is news today that Newcastle United will go after Stephen Warnock of Blackburn Rovers, in January.

Stephen Warnock – still on radar screen at Newcastle

Newcastle scouts Jeff Vetere and Lil Fuccillo took in Blackburn Rovers’ game with Sunderland at Ewood Park on Saturday, to check out the former Liverpool player and  England international Stephen Warnock.

Stephen is a good player, no doubt about it,  and would fit in very well at Newcastle, where he could be used in our troubled left-back spot. But Stephen has also been playing well in midfield for Blackburn recently.

We did try for Stephen in the summer, and it seemed that Kevin Keegan was very keen on the lad, but once Paul Ince was appointed manager we couldn’t get Stephen to Tyneside, and in fact we couldn’t get a new left back into the club, that had been promised to Kevin Keegan.

Jose Enrique is finding it difficult to make the left-back spot his own on Tynesdie, and time is running out.  We paid a lot of money for the Spanish Under-21 international, but he hardly had a good game on Saturday, and quite honestly looked awful.

In fact we would expect Seb Bassong to come in at left-back if Stephen Taylor can play central defense at Chelsea on Saturday. Bassong has proved himself a steady player, who turns in some solid performances.

We really do hope, whatever happens, that Dennis Wise has done his job, and we can go after reinforcements in January, whoever owns the club at that time.

It is important that Wise goes full steam ahead and tabs reinforcements that we can bring in during the January transfer window.

Stephen Warnock would be an excellent acquisition for us, but don’t be surprised if Mark Hughes, his former boss, also goes after him for Man City.

Comments welcome.

Rather get Luka Obradovic from Partizan or possibly Fucile from Porto.

Would be a very good signing for us, TBH, Mark Hughes will be expected to get much more expensive players than Warnock!

    TT….Excellent choice my friend.

Fucile is one of a kind especially with his aggresion towards the goal.

Obradovic in the right team with the right manager could eat Ashley Cole for breakfast in couple of years from now.

Enrique is okay, the problem is central midfield, our defenders have no one to pass to.

Ryan….His name is Ivan Obradovic from Partizan Belgrade and i believe that 4 mill Euros would be more than enough to get him. He’s only 20 and is concidered one of the hottest prospects in Europe with Juventus leading the chase to sign him.

4 mil euro? he could be a steal and if we want to start bringing in the best young talent why not? we have spend it on worse by the sound of it

ryunufc…I’d argue that they are there and the defense just chooses, or are told, to hoof the ball up to the corners.

Both Barton and Guthrie make themselves available but unfortunately JK has us playing long ball again.

TT…..And most importantly,,you could get them really cheap.
Just remember Zigic’s transfer to Santander,i believe it was no more than 4 mill euros just to be sold the year after to Valencia for 15 mill.

I am astonished that everyone has written off Enrique. Is the idea of Newcastle United ever taking a talented young player and grooming them into the finished article just a fantasy to you- maybe something that other clubs do?

We write players off so quickly it is frightening.
Every great club has to be able to do this or else they will always be at the mercy of the transfer market and looking for players at their peak- no way to build up a winning side.

You all say Ranger, Ranger, Ranger!!!
Then two games without scoring and you’ll say something about ‘championship material’… actually WE ARE TERRIBLE AT GROOMING TALENT because of the scapegoat lynchmob mentality we have at the club….

SB Robson built a squad with good young players – Jenas, Bellamy, Dyer, Hughes, Lua Lua, Shola, Ambrose, Griffin, Zog – dare I say it Bramble (I know – cue outrage). And we finished in the CL spots twice (5th the next year)… but you obviously have forgotten that.

Enrique your time us up… sorry the mob has spoken.

    mandzukic
    ismael bangoura
    radoi

    Never heard of Rafael Ledesma.

LB is a real problem for us and has been for a while. Warnock would be a great choice.

Shame about Enrique, somedays he looks a real prospect and i believe when he does go back to Spain he’ll blossom.

Prehaps we are the wrong club at the wrong time for him.
I feel i’ll be saying the same about Xisco in the future too.

I hope they both flurish here at SJP, but think we need to start looking for replacements.
Could be another 10 million down the drain!

Tymoschuk is gonna go to Bayern Munich with Real and other interested.

Zhirkov will be too expensive for what he is, a good left winger. There are so many good left wingers at the moment.

There are a lot of good left wingers more realistic for us.

    Barnetta
    Dzsudzsak
    Kightly (both)
    Zoran Tosic

    to name but a few.
