Joe Kinnear Just Hoping For The Best

Newcastle United will have six of their squad in action tonight, in International friendly games.

Joe Kinnear – hoping for the best

The players are Jonas Gutierrez, Fabricio Coloccini, Damien Duff, Shay Given, Charles N’Zogbia and Geremi who are all involved in friendly games for their countries.

And of course joe Kinnear is hoping we have no more injuries reported after these games this evening as he told nufcTV today:

“We’ve got quite a few lads away this week and they won’t be back until Thursday” “Jonas and Fabricio have got a good game up in Scotland and it would be nice if they played some part.”

“Likewise, Shay and Damien are playing for the Republic of Ireland in Dublin which they are looking forward to.”

“But the most important thing is Saturday’s game at Chelsea and I’m keeping my fingers crossed the lads are OK.”

The very last thing we need now is more injuries and we’re not sure what we’d do if Coloccini sustained an injury, since we’d really have a patchwork defense then.

Here’s hoping everybody if OK come tomorrow morning.

Comments welcome.

We are in for Kameni apparently. If we sell Given and get Kameni i wont be too fussed. He is a young quality keeper and is highly rated in Spain. Though a bit erratic at times, he dominates his area well, which Given doesn’t do.
Sell Given for around 8million and buy Kameni for about 5-6million as he is soon out of contract.

Spyro I would hate to see shay go but I would understand his decision if he does leave. and i think Harper would do fine plus we have other good young keepers.

Spyro, You’ve got to be joking. Given is one of the best shot stoppers in the world. Kameni has presence I agree but only an average all-round keeper.

If we were to sell Given then we have more than decent back up in Harper & Krul . So why buy another keeper when we need midfielders and defenders

Great story (not) our strongest position is the keepers we have ….. we will be strong in that position for a while yet with given, harper, krul, forster …….. Another Sky Sports story with no element of truth ……. Money needs to be spent on the full back positions 1st i would say

I know Given is better, but Kameni is a quality keeper also. Harper and Given are very similar, neither dominate their area. It would make sense to cash in on one and sign a young quality keeper like Kameni. Come on guys, if any of our players deserve to go to a top team and win trophies it is Given. sell him to a top Italian side, maybe AC, Roma or Inter. It is a win-win for both club and player.

Heres what the money needs to be spent on in order of importance

    LB (starter)
    CB (Starter)
    CM (cover)
    RB (cover)
    CF (cover or starter)
    LM (cover)
    RM (cover)
    GK (cover)

thats the order of importance of which we need players for!

People say Enrique is bad but we really missed him when he got injured

If Coloccini got injured 2nite we wud be doomed, Cacapa and Bassong!

If Habib Beye were to get injured before January we would really struggle!

Our only hope is for Chelsea to add to that injury list tonight!

what does that say Spyro? It says Given bleeds black and white and we wouldnt dare sell him

If Given decides to leave, then it is worth negotiating an exit. Otherwise, talking about selling our best and most loyal player just does not make any sense.

Spyro are you for real – Sorry I forgot an arm chair supporter!! It shows, your knowledge of players is limited to edited showings on Match of the Day or Football First… How can you ever say Harper doesn’t commend his area – he was awesome last season – Spyro it would appear you and your other cronies such as Tom_toon are here purposely trying to antagonise us true fans!!!

Given could be sold for 6 mil in January. That is an attractive option for FatAsh. We need full-backs, midfielders and a fit, tall mobile striker with a decent touch. But to then spend almost all of that money on an unproven mediocre keeper? That is plain daft, lad.
