Newcastle Reserves Just Beaten At Everton

An experienced Everton Reserves side finally beat our young Newcastle Reserves side, 1-0 last night at the Halton Stadium in Widnes.

Richard Money – urged the Reserves on late in the game

The Toffees included first-team regulars Leighton Baines, Tony Hibbert and Victor Anichebe, and Newcastle had the talented 17 year-old youngster Kazenga LuaLua back after injury.

Our Italian Under-19 striker Fabio Zamblera was also making his first start of the season for Newcastle, and he had an early opportunity but missed from six yards out, after Jonny Godsmark had sent in a pinpoint center from the right.

Anichebe then had an excellent chance after 22 minutes for Everton, but hit the ball wide after being put through by Daniel Gosling.   But a few minutes later on 25 minutes, Lukas Jutkiewicz headed home from close range following a Tony Hibbert’s chip from the bye-line, to put Everton finally ahead.

After 60 minutes Mark Doninger had a terrific shot from a free kick 25 yeards out, which only just missed.

Nile Ranger had replaced Zamblera at the break, but it was Everton who threatened with both Anichebe and Jutkiewicz missing decent chances for the home side.

Everton were pressing for a second goal and after 68 minutes a Gosling header hit the crossbar, but then Forster then did well to save from John Paul Kissock, who had a good chance with the rebound.

But then Newcastle started to rally towards the end of the game, urged on by coach Richard Money, and 19 year old England Under-19 International Andy Carroll headed just wide, but the youngsters were unable to find a goal that would have given them a deserved draw, against a much more experienced side.

But it was another fine performance from our very young Reserves side, the average age of the starting eleven being about 18.

good team we are getting together there, hope some of them can turn out like Man utd reserves have turned out in the last 15 years.
Heres hoping that we can finally get quality in depth throughout the team, this one place where
MA has done his homework and could do good things for us where he has totally forgotten the main team
