The Journal has some interesting news from Joe Kinnear today.
Joe says he has two players lined up from the Italian league, both in the £10M bracket, who have agreed to come to Newcastle for a 6 month loan spell, prior to possible long term deals.
Joe Kinnear – two players lined up from Serie A
Joe told the Journal today about the coming January transfer market and his plans:
“I am one step ahead,” “I have already drawn up a hit-list. Whether I get to implement it, I’m not sure. There’s no point being here unless I make an effort to bring new players in.”
“I recommended players I consider would enhance us in two areas of the pitch. Two top-class players that would stop us dropping from where we are.”
On the two players he has scoured in the Italian League he said:
“I don’t think they will come here, I know they will,” “It’s on a loan basis from January to June, then hopefully on a permanent (deal). I have spoken to their agents. We would be 100 times better off if we got them. They are worth £10M each. They are not in their sides, but are top-range players.”
“We have got to pay decent money for top-of-the-range loans,” “A couple of million for someone very special until the end of the season to get us in to a better position. I have got to get that message across.”
We have no idea who the players are or whether this is true, but we hope it is, and see no reason why Joe would come out with something like this, if it wasn’t true.
But you have to give it to Joe, for at least showing tremendous initiative and ambition in the job, and if he has indeed lined up these players, that would be some great news for some very depressed Newcastle fans – let’s face it.
Now if he’s still here in January, he will have to persuade a certain Mike Ashley to go ahead with these loan deals.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Interesting news. I wonder who he is talking about. Surely he is looking for some defenders and a central midfielder. Anybody got any ideas??

Comment #4Total shamble! He’s being led more a merry dance by Ashley than we are!
Why doesn’t the ‘fat one’ just come and say what is happening? That’s all the fans want. I’m getting to the point that i’d rather have ashley stayin than this uncertainly.!!!

Comment #5Its looking increasingly unlikely we will be sold before January anyway so i hope Joe gets these players in and we do realy well until the end of the season.
Joe deserves a contract till the end of the season, but after that we should get Shearer in, maybe working with Joe for a while

Comment #9I knew this would be the solution if Ashley was staying, (at least for a while) loan players. I’m not complaining we need em. A few good loan players would be more than welcome. But this means d-day of the 22nd which has been hyped up is also now not happening-shock horror. I think kinnear made a bit of an error saying this would be the day all questions would be answered, as now its not happening he’s been stitched up.

Comment #12Good new TBH… At least we are looking at top class players… If I was a potential buyer I would wait to see in we stayed up then put in an offer. This makes the most sense!

Comment #13One of them shares the same name as our former head of player recruitment, I’d only heard it was one as of Tuesday night so I don’t know who the other one could be.

Comment #14JMC Butt is crap, Barton and Guthrie are’nt defensive mids and I don’t think anything needs to be said about geremi ..So ya defensive mid is priority in my eyes as Butt could’nt pass wind

Comment #17JK is very good at his own PR. If these comments are meant to encourage us, they dont.
He does deserve some credit for his work, but its a worry because hes not the answer for Newcastle. If Ashleys greed forces us to stay as we are then the future is bleak. We are doomed to be small time for the forseeable future.
Its like the club is dangling by a thread, waiting for the fat one to decide.

Not!! smokescreen, Jokin here wanting a new contract, Ashley wanting too much money, so what better way to take our mind off things………2 yip not 1 but 2 10 million players in the pipeline…..woohoo………
Its all designed to give the p*icks who won the club breathing space!!
Trust me, there will be no 10m rated players coming to St, James either permanent or On Loan (Ha ha, a Joe k in itself, who would loan US a 10m player)
The sensible ones on here see this for what it really is!! Utter Bollix….
The rumours I am hearing is Ashley is about to start assett stripping, they are rumours that are as accurate as the 2, 10m players.

Comment #20I’m swiss and I unfortunately have to tell that you have to forget about inler. He is the top player of udinese (so he is IN the side) and is worth (on his new contract) about 20m EUR.
My guess would rather be senderos – but is only on loan at milan, so this is also not really possible.
I think gattuso is a good guess. And I think the other one is a leftback (or maybe a central defender?).

Comment #21Maybe D-day has been moved because due diligence will be completed next week . According to some of the tabloids shearer has already picked his backroom staff , they include John Carver ,Rob Lee , Mike Newell and Lee Clark . Shearer seems to be the choice of 1 of the American consortium’s . It could all be the usual tabloid crap , but somehow i don’t think Kinnear would let the goalposts be moved like this unless something really was happening .

Comment #22What about Mark Toni and Mark Rae then!
Agreed about Joe’s spin, he’s doing himself no harm in that department but it’d be better if the PR was coming from the club!

Players from italy usually take time to adapt into english games.
Not sure how will them save us in 6 months.
I prefer players from france tbh.

Comment #26It’s unlikely to be Inler, he’s playing regularly for Udinese. As for Gattuso, I think he’s still injured after falling down a hole between the two dugouts.
This could be a link back to the summer rumour mill and getting Tiago in, although he was said to not want a return to English football but you never know.
Vargas has played very little for Fiorientina so far since his 12m euro move this summer. He’d be a welcome choice at LB and got a few mentions himself over the summer talking about potential transfers and the like. His teammates Osvaldo (F) and Santana (RW) are also struggling for games.
Muntari too has only made a andful of appearances for Inter.
I’m unsure about Osvaldo and Santana but the others are definitely players in and around he £10m bracket JK mentions who aren’t playing regularly for their clubs.

Comment #27Little Willie, you’re clearly talking about Luis Jimenez, who I havn’t personally seen loads of, but sounds like a great prospect. If he is the standard of player that Kinnear is definitely signing, then get Kinnear signed permanently.

Comment #30Genius, whatever i’ve heard from Kinnear has been very positive. He wants a permanent contract, to sign Owen up quick as possible, get £10M rated players on loan and sign them permanently if all goes well, and possibly buy some Championship gems, cheap and quality.
I believe that by this time next season that the club will be running properly.

Jovetic from Fiorentina

Emerson from Milan

Luis Jimenez from Inter
Poulsen from Juve
Felipe Melo from Fiorentina

Comment #32Is Poulsen not starting like? From what i’ve seen him he looks a fantastic midfielder, never scared of the challenge and loves to shake opponents up. That video of him keeping Kaka in his back pocket on youtube is brilliant. Will be delighted if the players were Poulsen and Jimenez.

Comment #33Oh aye and if they are 10m players chances are they will play in teams that are in Europe. So why would they want to come to us in our plight? For 6 months come to hell in a relegation fight, and a frozen climate. Hahaha as stories go this is nuts. Just concentrate on getting us up the league, thats whats needed here not bs.

Comment #34JFK’s language is starting to ring of frustration with his bosses, which is telling, and we could see another giant falling-out soon.
There are three possibilities as I see it:
1. Alex is right in post 21. Cheeeerist, I hope so.
2. TTID is right in post 19. I hope not, but if I was Ashley and had the morals of a sociopathic nazi, it would be one way to get my money back during the credit crunch. But I doubt it, because the club doesn’t own the land, just the stands – which are worthless unless you continue to run a football club on it, which you can’t do without players. Does Ashley realise this? I hope so, but you’d hope he would realise having a Director of Football was daft, too.
3. My guess: the Italian players story is being introduced to replace the ‘D-Day’ one, which was brought in to replace the ‘six buyers interested’ one, and so on going right back to when JFK arrived. JFK is being fed a stream of ‘keep the fans on board’ stories to use to string us along until Ashley finds a way to make some money out of this.
Sorry to be cynical, but it’s all done a bit “Mandleson-sounding”…

Comment #35Andy it is all the things he says about Ashley and this latest one I am on about mate. You are obviously a bright lad, surely you can see this is BS. You are right that he does say positive things, and I have got a lot of time for him. I actually like him but he spouts off too much at times as in this case.

. . .. . .alessandro Rosina? From Torino? He is roughly ten million plays anywhere across the midfield and is a great great player.

Comment #37Andy….He was regular at the begining of the season but the last 4 games i watched Juve….he was benched.
But one thing’s for sure….he’s definetly not in his best form this season.

Comment #38Yeah I suppose, my heart tells me it’s a case for optimism yet my head tells me that we’re a club in turmoil and all the players in our team don’t value at £20M nevermind buying 2 players for that price.
I suppose anything is possible, and yeah I do like Kinnear, but I do get what you’re saying, maybe once we see some action to confirm all these statements then we can start feeling a bit better about the club.

Comment #40Yep good point, but he is the type of player we should be looking for + he will be ambitious nad have to leave to futher his career one day. We should pounce, then again there are many others we should pounce on. Gattusso does sound likely agreed. Will be a LB/CB/CM. An attacking minded CM and a LB i would guess though could be wrong. Can’t think of any decent LB’s though who aren’t playing.
