20 year-old Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul has joined Carlisle United on a one-month loan deal.
Tim Krul – month loan to Carlisle United
The Dutch Under-21 International spent much of last season on loan at SPL club, Falkirk, and is now off for a month to the north west of England.
Tim has only played one competitive senior game for Newcastle, when he had an absolute stormer, keeping a clean sheet in Newcastle’s 1-0 UEFA Cup win away to Palermo in 2006.
Our other outstanding young goalkeeper, Hexham born Fraser Forster, returned recently from a very successful loan spell at Stockport County, where he got some rave reviews for his goalkeeping.
But we’re surprised one of them doesn’t go out for a full season loan this year.

Comment #2The reason we didnt send him out on a longer loan is because we want to flog him in January. Kruls comments are very very worryin:
Newcastle didn’t want to loan me out, I could only be sold for the right price,” the 20-year-old told Dutch fansite OnsOranje.
“Feyenoord met all these demands and it looked perfect. My head was already in Rotterdam.
“However, on a certain point Wise closed the door. I was disappointed.”
“Sometimes I become crazy about it,” admitted the Dutch U21 international.
“My future at Newcastle is now depending on Steve Harper who has an expiring deal. If he stays, I will go.
“A transfer in the winter break would be a real option, but until that time I will be loaned out to Carlisle United.”

Comment #5He’s at that age where we either put him on the bench or sell him. He won’t wait forever.
