Zog Could Get His Wish To Leave Newcastle in January

It is looking more and more likely that Charles N’Zogbia could be sold in January, to fund new players coming to the club.

Charles N’Zogbia – could be moved on in January

N’Zogbia had claimed over the weekend his agent was in regular contact with Paris Saint-Germain, though German sides Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested.

Charles hasn’t been in the starting side under Kinnear, except for Joe’s first game in charge at Everton, and there’s no doubt Charles wants to start ever game, but who doesn’t?

In the past his attitude has been questioned, but we’ve seen nothing wrong about his attitude of late under Joe Kinnear, and in fact Joe has praised the 22 year-old, and he trains hard every day.

And Charles had nothing but good to say about the Newcastle performance on Saturday on the official web-site:

“We knew it was going to be tough and no one really gave us a chance before the game,”

“But it was a great team effort and the draw was thoroughly deserved. We had to soak up a lot of pressure but held firm.”

“The point is a massive lift. I felt the whole team really put a good shift in.”

Good words from Zog, and while we certainly don’t want to see another one of our best young players leave the club, Joe Kinnear may elect to sell him to fund new players coming to the club.

With Duff and Gutierrez stepping up to the plate in most games, we have two good starting wingers, but if Charles goes, we’ll not have too many players pressing for the wide positions, having also lost James Milner in August. There is also a good chance that Geremi, who plays on the right wing, will be sold in January.

But Joe may think there are other areas of the team that need strengthening before the wide positions.

Anyway, we still hope Charles elects to stay at Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

Preferred his ability to Milner’s, but every player has a price – if we can replace him, then fine, sell for the same money as Milner…But if the offer isn’t big enough or we don’t have a better replacement 90% signed – keep him and play him instead of Duff!

Hope he stays but if he is not getting a start you cant blame him for leaving. I think he should be played every game on the left and duff used to replace him but if we can get 8 to 10 mill for him I’d be happy. I cant see a french club paying more than 6 for him.
    So if we get say
    Zog 7 mill
    Capaca 1.5 mill
    Geremi 2 mil
    Smith 2.5 mill
    Edgar 1 mill

    and send Nacho packing.

13 mill and a whole lot of wages

so 13 mill for those boys. Plus we send

and get some kids out on loan already…or give em a shot. And of we sell xisco for 5 mill we’d have 19 mill to spend where it counts.

If he wants to stay, then we need to remind ourselves he’s not the finished article and his attitude still remains in question, at least off the pitch. If we could guarantee a replacement then great but as ever you take a chance on getting someone else in who might not settle and/or struggles. We might do better to hold onto him and try and mould him into what we want and need. If he wants away then there’s no debate.

Why is everyone banging on about selling Xisco he’s only been here two minutes! Ridiculous if we Zog, consitantly one of our best and exiciting players for the last few years. Only 22 the best still to come from him. Realistically if we sell him for 6 mil who are we going to get to replace him. I’d rather we sold duff for 4 mil that n’zog he’s the future imo!

Of course his attitude is in question, he isn’t getting his game!! It’s clear to just about everybody that N’Zogbia is quicker, technically better, more dangerous on the ball than Duff, and should be starting ahead of him. However, having said that, I would have started Duff against Chelsea, just for a more defensive aspect (even though Duff is shocking defensively and bottles EVERY challenge).

    I hope to god N’Zogbia doesn’t go.

Also, TT, Kinnear is doing a decent job of things so far, cut him some slack. Maybe he hasn’t played N’Zogbia as much, but he’s got the best out of Ameobi.

Also we should try him in Acm until we can get some more creativity in… Him and Guthrie i say with butt coming on to close the game down.

yeh lets sell the Zog then Duffers can go back to what he was last season – a non event.
Would prefer the Zog in the team any day over Duff, hes more direct, looks to go forward instead of backwards, OK he looses the ball at times but the +’s out weigh this., versatility, 90 minute runner, youth on his side, other clubs would snap him up. etc
Asset stripping again cos the others that are been talked about (Gerimi, Smith, Cacapa, Xisco) are not going to raise anything between them.

Funny how ire and indignation gives way to a sort of miserable, resigned acceptance as the suggestion of N’Zog’s departure takes on an air of inevitability with the club in the current quandry.

We should be fighting tooth and nail to hang onto one of only 3 wingers we have, and a good, promising young one at that. Its not as if Duffer was indestructible and Jonas has already had a spell out this season. If Zog stuck around, he’d certainly get starts this season. No doubt about it.

Of course the kid isn’t helping by pushing the door from the inside, so to speak, as he’s done before. But it just seems a measure of where we are at that we are sacrificing one area where the squad is already too thin in order to bolster some other area. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. That’s no way to run a club. Villa paid 12 million for the indefatigable James Milner and he hardly gets a start.

Looks like JFK and the fans, too are coming to terms with FatAsh’s refusal to hand over even the remainder of the Milner money. How ironic that he reckons no. 17, Smudger’s squad number, is lucky. Lets hope it comes up early in the transfer window and pays off big or we’ll be picking up the walking wounded, the homeless and the unwanted puppies on the last day again.

There’s no way Kinnear would play Guthrie and Zog together in the middle if Butt is fit. It’s Butt and Duff’s experience that is keeping Guthrie and Zog out, which is maybe less of a gamble, but they’re both past it i’d say.

If he wants to stay then great. He’s a talent. But if he wants to go to a bigger club (PSG?) then fair enough. If you don’t want to play for the team then there’s the door. Absolutely no point having a player that see’s his future else where. We should offload ASAP. He should really have put his request in, kept his mouth shut and concentrated on his football until January. Could be just a whinge for first team football, not the way to go about it. This just gives the papers more ‘jumping ship’ stories.

Zog is being pushed out of the door and i will be LIVID if he is sold. JK you f****n a***hole! JK has probably been told by MA to sell NUFC’s most pricey players. Why else would he play crappy Duff over Zog!? Duff would fetch about 3million & Zog about 6-7million. No-brainer.

Aussie Geordie….Who o earth is going to pay 1.5 million for cacapa and 2 million for geremi? We will never get 7 million for charlie either. I think you are in fantasy land there! We got such an amount for milner becuase he is english which always adds on an extra few million; especially when they are young!

Selling charlie is a huge step backwards in my opinion. We should be looking to build the team around players with pace and energy; on the other hand do we want to keep a player who is constantly linked with moves away and is always surrounded by rumours of unrest? It’s a tough one…

    On the monetary value side it’s more like;

    Smith 1.5-2 million
    Nzogbia 3-4million
Cacapa 250,000 @ best (he is on a free in the summer)
    Geremi 1 million
    Edgar 500,000

To me thats an optimistic 7.75 on those players!

I’d add to that 3-4 million for xisco if we can offload him to take us nearer the 10 million mark.

    Players i’d bring in;

    Kevin Doyle – 6-7 million

    Riise – loan

Elano – loan (I can dream)

Scott Sinclair -loan (Full of pace, skill and surely would be loaned out by chelsea; to cover for the loss of charlie)

Mathew Upson – 7 million (again dreaming…I would hope MA would sanction such a deal as it would be massive for the club; if West Ham need to sell then why not)

If we couldnt sign upson i’d look at Dawson from Spurs at around 3-4 million.

    Let me know your thoughts…

Where’s the ‘proof’ that any of this is true…Or is it based on ‘all’ the other times, every transfer window, that this ‘truth’ has been bandied about?..

    …Either it’s true & he’s a whinin’ get, it which case, sod off…
…Or it’s yet more media bollox sent to upset the applecart in the Toon ranks!?!..

…How many transfer windows now have players like Given, Zog, Owen et al, been ‘definately’ leavin’ us?..

    …Answer that & stay fashionable!..

    Eidur Gudjohnssen on loan

Its another one like Milner, the fact that we replaced him with gutierrez was a masterstroke in my opinion, however that had already been paid for and the fact we didn’t see further enforcements made it a bad selling choice whatever the price. However if it had been reinvested it could have been fantastic and indeed if we sell n’zog and players of gutierrez’s quality come in then it would be a brilliant choice.

I’m in 2 minds over N’Zogbia. I think he is a good player, but there are questions about his attitude and does he want to be at Newcastle? But I would be worried that within 6 months we could have sold 2 up and coming wingers, Milner and Zog. Duff has been OK for us recently, I would like the zog given a run in the team though. He has the ability, he can cross, shoot, he is quick and can dribble. I haven’t seen Duff do this too much recently. But it looks like he is off in January. As long as we can replace him, it will be ok, because if Duff or Jonas get injured we are screwed.

Lets face it this transfer window is going to be another disaster. If the club wasn’t sold by greedy Ashley before january we all knew that this could be or very close to the end of our premiership status. Its going to take a miracle by joe to get what he needs without any money. Selling from an already scant squad is going to be a disaster. Ashley has put the final knife in

Although he has great skill and pace there has always been a question mark about his attitude , with Bayern Munich rumored to be interested then why not a swap deal for Schweinsteiger . At least we would be getting a quality midfielder in and the position we are in at the minute , we need players who want to be here .

Won’t get Kevin Doyle until summer and then for a lot more than 6-7 million. But he’d be a great buy at 12 million if we had it. A smart player and a good lad.
Won’t get Evans on loan either. He’s almost broken into the ManU first team now.
Trouble is, if we are looking to sell first, all the outgoing deals we hope to make have to happen tootsweet. It never happens like that when teams know you’re desperate to sell. Its just like FatAsh and the club. Buyers are in no rush. The desperate like us end up paying over the odds and getting washers in return.
Cash is king and FatAsh isn’t parting with any of his. Shameful reality .

I don’t want to see him leave. Although he has not started a game recently, when he does come on his attitude and work ethic are good to see. Also, he shows some signs of his skill like the pass to Oba for the go-ahead goal against Wigan. Still upset about that–a game we should have won. His statements seem to give the impression that he wants to move for 1st team football, and I can’t fault him for that. The difference between himself and Duff is too small to care about. They seem to have the same abilities and I think you could easily put either one in a central attacking midfield role. C’mon Joe-give it a try!!

Hoping Zog stays as he’s not as injury prone as Duff. If one of them has to leave I’d prefer it was Duff who’s on a hefty salary despite spending the majority of his time on the sick…..
