Yet Another Must-Win Game Against Stoke City

How many times have we had must-win games at Newcastle since Joe Kinnear arrived?

Chris Hughton – another must-win game

Quite honestly it seems that most of our home games fit into that category and we haven’t done too bad at home since Joe arrived.

In those games we have drawn two (Man City and Wigan) and won two (WBA and Aston Villa) and scored two goals in every one of those games.

Maybe we need to break that streak and win 3-0 tomorrow, which would be very nice, thank you very much.

It does seems that Mark Viduka and Chris Hughton both believe tomorrow’s game is yet another must win game for the club.

Mark said:

“You talk about “must-win” games, and we had a few at the end of last season, but already this one against Stoke is like that,” “At home especially we have to win games like this and Saturday is massive for us.” “It’s been hard for the fans recently, we all know that as players, and we’re desperate to give them a win against Stoke.”

And coach Chris Hughton also exhoed Mark’s statements after we’ve had 3 draws in a row, two away from home.

Chris said:.

“It’s must-win, no doubt about it,” “It’s fantastic that we’re unbeaten in three, but you need wins to climb places and Saturday is a fantastic chance to do so.”“We’re confident after recent results but we know that we need three points because it is so tight at the minute.”

A good win, where we can also improve our goal difference (currently -5) would be very nice, and since Stoke are 3 points ahead of us with a worse goal difference (-10), a win will take us above them in the league, and that’s what we need to do by tomorrow tea-time.

That’s the bottom line.

3-0 cmon the lads, we need to get at them straight awayand not give them a chance to use their long throw tactic. Martins to Shine I Think !!

this will be a difficult game as stoke will try to stop us playing as much as they can

the big question as every one will know is can we stop the throw
to do so we will have to keep them on the back foot as much as possible

which will be difficult as they lob the ball up the pitch as soon as they get a chance

it will be difficult to defend thier throw ins as our squad is physically short

K K Forever – cos we dont want him to. I’m a big fan of keegan but enough is enough he has walked out twice and we shouldnt go back a 3rd time (if he had come straight back that would have been different, but months have passed now).

JK is our manager till the end of the season at least so we should all get behind him 100% now.

It’s a game we must win and 3-0 would be terrific, although 1-0 also gives us the 3 points….

There is no reason why we shouldn’t score many goals againsts this Stoke team tomorrow and improve our goal differance!
