Sebastien Bassong has become the Talk of the Toon over the last couple of games against Chelsea and Middlebrough, and now young Bassong is telling anybody who will listen, that Newcastle fear no team.
Sebastien Bassong – Talk Of The Toon speaks out
Bassong told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:
“We are not scared of any team now.” “We have shown that in our last two games, because both Middlesbrough and Chelsea have been left disappointed they could not beat us.”
“We are at home again and what I have discovered about Newcastle is that you must win at home.” “It does not matter who you play, you must win. I think we can do that against Stoke.”
Charles N’Zogbia has helped his pal Bassong settle down well at the club, and Charles is also back inb the first team after retunring in place of the injured Damien Duff at Middlesbrough last Saturday.
N’Zogbia has helped Bassong settle down well in Newcastle since the young defender arrived during the summer.
Bassong was actually brought in by the recruitment team that Dennis Wise manages, and Seba has proved to be a valuable signing for the club, and he could become a very valuable signing if he can keep up his recent form, which has been excellent.
Speaking of his fellow Frenchman N’Zogbia, Bassong said:
“I am very happy for Charles.” “I think he missed me when he was not playing!” “It was his first start for a long time, but he will keep on getting better and better.” “He is a very good player.”
“He gives us good attacking options. When he plays we have another attacking option in front of us.” “He is very good with the ball to his feet, and we saw that against Middlesbrough.”
“He got through a lot of running and put in some good crosses. We need him in the team.”
Seb seems to be becoming a bit of a young leader at the club, since he comes across as very down to earth and sensible for one so young.
He’s a good lad and could be come a very good player for Newcastle, as he matures and learns his trade.
It’s hopefully looking that way.

Comment #81Paul, honestly. He wasn’t getting game time under Robson so he wanted to leave to get games, which, I love Harps, I do, an extremley loyal keeper, but he should have left years ago. He wasn’t and isn’t getting game time and only has through injury to Given.
Harps plays, to put it lightly, fuck all games compared to Given.
If you think that all the managers have left Given as the no.1 because they don’t want to
“drop him as to preserve our status of having the best 2 goalkeepers”
Then you are seriously deluded, if that’s what you think then you really know feck all about football and this club in general, are you seriously that delusional. The best player plays.
And have some serious hate issues when it comes to Given.
You NEVER and you WONT take circumstances into account. A Defender could have the ball and without warning turn around and run past Given and shoot it into the goal and you’d still blame it on him.
And of course it matters how many games they play. Given could put in the best display from a keeper of the decade and be on the loosing side because of pathetic ridiculous mistakes from his defenders against Man U. Harper might leave in none, against Wigan, having nothing to do. Or like what happened under Sam, the team oculd go on a really good run and everyone could be outstanding and they wouldn’t condede at all because of a combination of things.
And by the by, when Given was injured under Roeder Newcastle if my memory serves me right, spent the majority of Harper’s time in goal in the relegation zone, only beggining to climb back up when Given came back..circumstancial, maybe. Was the teams position Harps fault, probably not, but anyone can twist facts, like you are doing and ignore circumstance.
Harper played 20plus games under Sam and Keegan, where’s those stats you made up, I mean got.
You’ve some issues with Given, clearly. Maybe if he was English..

Comment #82reillers .. agreed Given is class
Our only problem is ;eftback, DM, AM and strikers .. if only these positions were filled with players of Givens calibre we’d be top 6.

Comment #84Well said Reillers in particular the issue regarding distribution. It drives me and probably everyone else nuts when Given launches it down the middle aimlessly. However Given is only playing according to the managers tactics and can’t be blamed for poor distribution, in fact it shows what a model professional he is by following such b*ll*x orders.

Comment #88Why not? Bridge and Baines, would each give us an upgrade. However, i doubt Bridge would want to continue to fight for playing time lol.

Finally someone who shares my view on Skjelbred.. He has been absolutely fantastic in the last half of the year.. I have watched every Uefa-cup game of Rosenborg, and he has been man of the match in most of them.. I fear that if we don’t sign him now, then he will go somewhere else.. Everytime i watch him play, I start thinking of him as the perfect Arsenal-player. He is terrific in counter-attack, and I really hope and beg for us to get him in January. He would be our best midfielder by far!!

Comment #90He wouldn’t fight for playing time.
Bridge > Cole IMO.
Bridge is highly underrated.
Insua is tiny, saw him pre-season he looked weak and crap defensively, and this was against Swiss league strugglers.

Comment #91Yea ive heard more about Insua than i’ve acutally seen from him. But he’s still young. I really think Bridge is underrated as well. Oh wow i had a brain fart….for some reason i thought Beye was a lb haha.

Comment #93Only seen him once in the CL, but he ran the game and that was 2 years ago.
Looked a good player.
We need a DM more desperately IMO, Mehmet Topal is the man for the job.
LB and DM for definite in Jan and them an AM, ST and possibly a utility player in summer, and obviously covering any outgoings with like-for-like players.

Comment #96Skjelbred was by far the best player V Copenhagen yesterday. I havent been to impressed with him in the Norwegian tippeliga this year, but whenever he plays in european tournaments he always look really good.
Fantastic workrate, good distribution, but not quite the playmaker we need. He made 3 assist and 1 goal this season. Hardly impressing

Comment #97Everytime any player makes such a statement,
the team turns out horrible.
some years ago beckham said man utd would go unbeaten, they ended that season without a throphy.
Alan shearer once said newcastle fears no one.
and we crashed out of the champions league to belgrade
hmmm
