The thinking behind some of Joe Kinnear’s transfer targets is now becoming clearer, and what we hear from Joe seems to make a lot of sense.
Joe Kinnear surrounded by friends and fans
We had wondered yesterday with the emergence of young Sebastien Bassong, whether Joe would indeed go after another center-back and he has said today he will not.
“I’m not looking for a central defender in January because I’m more than happy with what I’ve got in Steven Taylor, Sebastien Bassong and Fabricio Coloccini.”
And of course we also have the very promising 6’2″ youngster Tamas Kadar, who has already been called up for the Hungarian senior squad, even though the lad just turned 18 years-old last March.
Joe seems willing to say which players he’s after in the January window, and he’s let it be known he’s interested in Hearts left back David Obua, who was signed by the SPL club as a free agent last summer.
David Ubua – Ugandan left-back being tracked by Kinnear
Joe Kinnear talked about the Uganda International as just one of a number of his transfer targets in January.
“We’re monitoring David Obua, but we’re currently monitoring several players at the moment,”
The 24-year-old 6’0″ defender has played for Uganda 22 times and scored 5 goals, including a hat-trick in September, 2007, in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger, which Uganda won 3-1.
But we don’t know too much about him other than that.
