Joe Kinnear talked this morning about Newcastle United not particularly having too much luck in some of their games since he took over.
Joe Kinnear – not having much luck at home
Joe talked about our home form this morning:
We’ve dropped four points in our last two home games and if you think back to the Manchester City game, we’ve dropped six really. Against City they were given a penalty which never was and we had a player sent off for it which was another major blow for us to deal with.”
“Against Fulham there was a foul in the build-up to their second goal which the referee ignored and those things are really difficult to take. If we had a couple more points the league table would look a lot better for us.”
“We have been getting a raw deal in recent weeks and we can only hope that turns for us in the second half of the season. When you think about all the injuries we’ve picked up as well, lady luck hasn’t really been kind to us has she? “
Joe’s right there, and but for late goals we could have won all 5 home games since Joe took over, but that’s all woulda, coulda shoulda, and we haven’t done that, and we’ve dropped 6 points, and that’s the way it is.
But we concede far too many goals right now at St. James’ Park and we concede far too many late goals, which have turned out to be equalizers. The disappointment on Saturday was for the defense to concede two goals in the last 30 minutes, against a side who had only scored 3 goals in 7 away games this season, before Saturday.
So Joe has to get the lads to realize that, and they must keep their concentration 100% for the full game, which didn’t happen on Saturday.
We haven’t got the points we’ve really deserved, but there again the league table doesn’t lie, and right now we’re in 17th place, and just one place above the relegation three.
Spurs beat West Ham 2-0 last night at Upton Park, and now go above us in the league by a couple of points.
Not good.

Comment #1Kinnear should stop banging his gums so much and do what he’s paid for. No use whingeing about the Stoke game – it was his negative tactics in the second half which lost the 2 points.
The buck stops with the manager – stop blaming referees, lady luck, the fairies at the bottom of the garden….its your job to get results.
Don’t get too comfortable in that manager’s seat though…..

Comment #2Raw deal – sorry Joe but you make your own luck and you can’t blame your subs bench selection or your subtitution selections on bad luck, stop whinging and sort it out!

I can’t see anyone saving us without significant investment which in the current climate just isn’t going to happen.
Owen is highly likely to move in Jan and as the comedy situation at the club is going from bad to worse you can hardly blame him.
I also wouldn’t be surprised to see one of the big four take a punt on Guiterez in Jan and to be honest he’d do really well in a good team.
Looking at our remaining games we look like we’ll scrape together 20 – 25 points which looks like relegation form ( tho given we can’t beat any of the relegation candidates at home is all we deserve )
I just can’t put my finger on what is wrong with our club – it was the same under FFS as it is with Ashley and 10 managers later we still can’t get stability or move forward (Sir Bobbys reign excluded) – Is it just because we think we’re a big club where in reality we’re a lower mid table team who punched above our weight under KK (1st time) and Sir Bobby, is it the fans / local media expectation levels which far exceed the clubs capability?
I really don’t know but I’m fed up of feeling depressed every Sat at 17:00 🙁

Comment #5As you say the table doesnt lie. All of this mess is of our own making. Including giving up a 2 goal lead at home and having to hang on for a draw.

Comment #8Take a look in the mirror Joe and you will see where the problem lies. Its a brave man that can admit when he,s got it wrong ,so its time to realize that blaming anyone and anything has got to stop.Learn from past mistakes make decisive substitutions and stick with that which works.PS learning from past mistakes includes keeping your mouth firmly shut with regards the FA as this will limit you even more in your ability to do your job properly .

Comment #9Agree with lezb and most of the other posters on here. If Joe is making the same excuses to FatAsh and Wise we’ll never see the investment needed to stay in this division. And if his players make the same excuses to Joe and Hughton, they should be dropped. We are all for positivity, but tempered with some realism.

Comment #10No doubt Duff will be back at the weekend, unsettling the starting line-up again. Taylor will be wedged somewhere into the back four to keep him happy and Spiderman will be subbed along with Martins despite both playing out of their skin.
We’ll play one half of the game with fight and determination and the other half like lead weights.
No doubt the result will be a draw. The ref’ will make a dubious decision at some point and Kinnear will belch his ferocity about it in the post match interview; get fined by the FA then reflect on our ‘bad luck’.
Christ I’ve become so cynical.

Thanks for letting us know. Whilst its nice to see the little clubs doing well, I think you’re in the wrong forum mate.
But on the same theme – aren’t Darlington having a good season?

Comment #13I see Sky have rescheduled our Feb match with Bolton.
No doubt they are leavening the rich mix of ‘Battles for Top 4’ with some ‘Relegation Six-Pointers’.
Happy New Year.

Comment #17JK must stop whining & giving us reasons after reasons & it’s about time to start deploy 4-3-3 system at home games which was proven winning formulae. I think most of the NU fans would agree us winning more games with a bit of entertainment. Only then the lady luck shall be with our side.

Comment #19It’s disappointing to hear someone like Joe curse his luck about how things could have been different, if only …….
Kinnear has been in the game long enough to know that you make your own luck! On Saturday we had nobody to step into the role of midfield when Guthrie went off and the introduction of Taylor along with the substituition of Martins did nothing but change the shape of the team and the defence went back to it’s old ways.
The draw against Stoke only confirms that we are going to fight tooth and nail to stay in the premiership.

Comment #27what a load of shite, he has let us down with all his crap tactics. Surely a youth team and a reserve team playing well and winning there is at least one midfielder decent enough to put on the bench? Major re-jigging cost us the stoke game. 4 players out of position when only one was needed? pathetic. Wigan was a joke, west brom a joke, he is too quick to blame officials, anyone else but himself and his dire tactics.
We are in a mess and sorely need players in jan, but lets face it, todays meeting will have been who to sell and which muppets may come in jan for ott wages.
I am worried, we all should be
