Lee Clark took over the manager job with Huddersfield Town yesterday, and it’s an excellent opportunity for the local Newcastle lad.
Lee Clark – with Glenn Roeder at Norwich City
Clark, who was assistant manager at Norwich, with Glenn Roeder, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Huddersfield, and his back-roon staff will be made up of former Newcastle coach Derek Fazackerley and fitness coach Steve Black.
The former Huddersfield manager Stan Ternent, was sacked by Huddersfield on November 4 after just six months in the job.
Director of Football Development Gerry Murphy will remain in charge for Saturday’s Coca-Cola League One clash at Southend, and then Lee will take over.
Chairman-elect Dean Hoyle said:
“I cannot stress enough the importance of the managerial team.”“Lee is the leader, but he’s only as good as his coaching staff and I’m delighted he is backed up by a duo that has worked at the pinnacle of their respective professions.
“Derek Fazackerley has worked in the Champions League, Premiership and for the England national team and has a level of experience and knowledge comparable with any other coach in England today and he will be instrumental as assistant manager alongside Lee.”
And the Newcastle link continued yesterday as Norwich manager Glenn Roeder appointed former Newcastle reserve coach Adam Sadler to his back room staff.
Adam Sadler – former Newcastle Reserves coach
Adam had been sacked with Glenn McDermott, on the Monday following Kevin Keegan’s resignation the previous Thursday, and they have not been replaced by the powers that be at Newcastle.
Glenn talked about Sadler, who we always though was an excellent young coach at Newcastle:
“He is young, he is only 29 but age is never a barrier for me, if you are good enough then you are old enough. Adam is certainly good enough to step up to fill the void that Lee Clark has left by going off to Huddersfield.”
“He will not be named as assistant manager, he will be working alongside Paul Stephenson with the seniors as a senior coach.”
“The quality of Adam’s coaching and his general knowledge of football is excellent, he is delighted to be given this opportunity and we are delighted to have him on board.”
“ Paul has been absolutely really excellent too since he’s come in – I believe the backroom team I have now is the best I have ever had.”
Norwich are currently 20th with 23 points from 22 games in the Championship, and Hudderfield are 12th in League One, with 26 points from their 19 games.
This is a great chance for Lee Clark, who always wanted to manage after his playing days, and a good move for young Adam Sadler.

Comment #4At least he is putting in the coaching/managing groundwork unlike a certain other former Toon big name. He may be more of a future boss for us than the same self centred egotistical “I will walk across the Tyne when the time is right” big head.

Comment #5Glenn McDermott? Is he the bastard child of Roeder and Terry then?
