Newcastle Reportedly After Young French Midfielder

There are reports today that Toulouse FC have turned down an approach from Newcastle United for their midfield star youngster Moussa Sissoko.

Moussa Sissoko – 19 year-old combative midfielder

Apparently Football Director Dennis Wise has made an approach for the 19-year-old French youngster, who has already been called up for the French Under-21 side.

The youngster stands just under 6’2″ and has already played for the Toulouse first team 41 times, and appeared 4 times for the French Under-21 side, and his CV looks very good.
.
Newcastle are understood to have been impressed with Sissoko, and Liverpool and Bolton also scouted the youngster during his days in Toulouse’s youth side, where he was a stand-out.

Sissoko only made his debut last year, but is now a regular in the first team, and Moussa made his European debut in a Champions League third qualifying round first leg on 15 August 2007 against Liverpool.

Now Newcastle are believed to have asked Toulouse how much they want for the player, but Toulouse are reported to want a huge figure to even consider letting him leave. Where have we heard that before?

The fact that Toulouse are not keen to sell will not put Newcastle off, although Sissoko is probably one for the future, but we also know that another young Frenchman, Sebastien Bassong, has made a big impact on Tyneside since arriving in the summer.

We don’t know if this report is true, but we hope it is.

Comments welcome.

I just read that Utaka believes Distin is faster than Martins. Honestly, some of the things a player will say to boost a team mates confidence before a game are hilarious.

Could be perfect to bolster our midfield options.

I reckon this rumour might be true in two parts.
    1. That Newcastle have scouted this lad – he’s young and full of promise – exactly the type of player were looking at.
    2. That we have been priced out of bidding for him.

We heard of this lad during the summer and if he is as good as he’s supposed to be Toulouse won’t let him go for a price we can afford.

Never seen this guy properly, I vaguely remeber him 2 seasons ago in CL qualifier with Liverpool.

However, he is a young defensive midfielder?

    Sign him up.

I had the same problem too, you also get yieldfinder loading at the bottom of the screen when the page is loading up which is Malware.

As for Distin, he probably is as fast as Martins over a long distance but he doesn’t have the acceleration over a short distance that Martins has.

As for this young lad, there has been quite a few top young midfielders to come out of France and most have ended up at Arsenal, it would be good if we could get him.

Thinking about it, you are probably right about Distins long distance speed. After all, he is a long legged f****r isn’t he.

sounds good man, us having seba would probably be an incentive for the youngster?
ive just properly come to terms with owen leaving now, ohwell, if he’s off he’s off. we NEED to replace him however, if not with someone of his quality (highly unlikely) then someone who will atleast step into the first team. wish we’d got bafetimbi gomis in the summer, reckon theres any chance of that happening now?
we need 3 first team signings. lb, dm, st
    badly

He won’t come cheap but at 19 he’s one for the future as well as a cover this season for central midfield.

At 6’2″ he give’s us much added height; so sign him up and let him learn his trade from Nicky Butt before Butt leaves at the end of the season….

This is casting my mind way back to when we first signed him, but I seem to remember that Distin was a professional sprinter for a brief period; he could very well be faster than Martins. Not that it makes a difference as Martins’ lack of awareness takes a good five yards off his pace anyway!

Forget youngsters! We need players to keep us up! Why prepare for a future which may not happen if we are relegated? Any top youngster worth his salt wont want to play in the Championship, so would want to leave, I think

Turkish Magpie – there’s nothing wrong with our defence..it’s the center of our midfield where the problems are…

ok…ashley bought the club..gave SA the chance…saw it wasn’t the right decision..sacked him..in next TW he wanted to bring a manager in..he did..sadly it didn’t work out…next TW he focused on defenders..brought in colo and basso..great players…

like robinho said: when building a team you must start from behind…first is GK..we’ve got those..then build a defence…we got those..then midfielders and then strikers…

i just hope this TW will focus on midfielders…and on strikers in summer…then all we need is a manager with some logic and we’re good to go…

yes edgar..why not..we also have tozer, kadar..i mean..bale (spurs) is 19, rafael (man utd) is 18,….why not play our youngsters..they’re class… i just think our midfield should be a priority…we receive so many golas, ‘cos opponents just walk through our midfield…thanks to butt, slow – motion geremi, ok..guthrie’s unexperienced…so only decent central midfielder is bartons, who’s either injured or in prison..

getting a new defender is the last thing we should consider…

Martins does not display any sort of blistering pace that he is hyped up to have, and this could possibly be because he has one of the worst first touches i’ve ever seen.
