There are reports today that Toulouse FC have turned down an approach from Newcastle United for their midfield star youngster Moussa Sissoko.
Moussa Sissoko – 19 year-old combative midfielder
Apparently Football Director Dennis Wise has made an approach for the 19-year-old French youngster, who has already been called up for the French Under-21 side.
The youngster stands just under 6’2″ and has already played for the Toulouse first team 41 times, and appeared 4 times for the French Under-21 side, and his CV looks very good.
Newcastle are understood to have been impressed with Sissoko, and Liverpool and Bolton also scouted the youngster during his days in Toulouse’s youth side, where he was a stand-out.
Sissoko only made his debut last year, but is now a regular in the first team, and Moussa made his European debut in a Champions League third qualifying round first leg on 15 August 2007 against Liverpool.
Now Newcastle are believed to have asked Toulouse how much they want for the player, but Toulouse are reported to want a huge figure to even consider letting him leave. Where have we heard that before?
The fact that Toulouse are not keen to sell will not put Newcastle off, although Sissoko is probably one for the future, but we also know that another young Frenchman, Sebastien Bassong, has made a big impact on Tyneside since arriving in the summer.
We don’t know if this report is true, but we hope it is.
