Kinnear Now Hoping To Sign Five Players In January

Joe Kinnear is now planning to bring five new players into the club in the January transfer window, with three loan signings, and two players moving permanently to Tyneside.

Joe Kinnear – targeting 5 new players for January

That’s consistent with what Joe said a day or two ago, when he said he hoped to sign two new players, but of course there’s always the possibility of loan signings, which would be good, given the current situation with the ownership of the club.

He will also sell some fringe players, if he gets any offers for them.

The transfer window was also extended yesterday to 5pm on Monday, February 2, presumably so the last day is not on a weekend. But we would hope we get the new players in early January, especially the loan signings, because hopefully those deals are being struck right now.

Joe said today:

“I’m hoping to bring in four or five players, maybe three on loan,” “I don’t mind selling some of my fringe players. I haven’t any offers for them yet – unfortunately.”

“I’m talking about the players who never get on the bench, or only get on in emergencies. If we can put two or three of those together I might only get one decent one in return.”

“I’m not talking about any of the players who played last week.”

So who never makes the squad or only gets on the pitch in an emergency?    We think Cacapa, Xisco, Geremi and Edgar fit that description.

Five good new players in, and keeping most of the squad we already have should set us up well for the remainder of the season, even though one or two fringe players may be moved out.

If Joe can bring in five new players, he will have done very well indeed in Jnauary, and Newcastle fans will be hoping he can do just that.

Comments welcome.

Why on earth are we after Upon for yet again?. We have a history of our big money buys being crocked, and this guy is injured far too often. He is a good player when he plays, but his injury record does not give me any faith in him. Also, Ashley aint going to be shelling out too much cash, maybe £15 million at most, and that is including anything after fringe sales, so why are we looking to spen £7 million of that on a central defender, when that is not a priority.

Left back we have no cover for , only Zog doing makeshift for Enrique. We have no creativity in midfield at all. and we need another striker to replace maybe Owen and the Xisco kid.

I’d take upson like! we could get rise & a midfielder & play with with wing backs if we wanted. If he gets 5 decent buys in it could be the difference in staying up or going down. Think Owen will stay till end of season as i belive he thinks he owes us at least that.

To sell Geremi and Xisco would be idiotic, both good players.

Edgar, Cacapa, Carroll, Harper/Given, Smith can all leave.

Why look for a centre back when we need cover for both full backs, a CM and cover for RW…

Upson? We dont need another fcukin CB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d sell Owen too if he doesn’t sign a new contract, we can easily survive without him.

    Sell;

    Butt and replace with Zuculini

    Duff and replace with Bastos

Cacapa & Edgar then replace them with Jorgensen

Sell Smith, Carroll & Owen, replace them with Derbyshire

Sell Harper to raise additional funds.

Recomend selling Edgar, Cacapa, Ameobi and Smith if possible.

Even if we sell Owen fo 3M or 5M its cheap if his goals keep us in the PL. Recomend we keep him and make him an offer he can’t refuse for the next few saesons.

Still think Given will leave as we’ll get a decent sum for him and we still have adequate cover with Harper, Krull and Forster.

The five players coming in must be:

    LB – Competition/cover for Enrique
CB – Replacement for Egdar and/or Cacapa if they leave
DM – Cover and take over from Butt
AM – We dont have any??
CF – Replacement for Owen, Smith and/or Amebio if they leave

Zuculini is an 18yr old midfielder who is the closest thing to Flamini at the moment. He has unbelievable work rate and can play anywhere in midfield. Best position is CM or DM though. Plays for Racing Avellenada although i have never seen him for them. I saw him when he played in the U-17 world cup and he was fantastic.

Jorgensen is an 18 yr old CB/RB who plays for FC Copenhagen. He is fast and unbelievably strong. He is a highly rated youngster out in the Danish league, they expect him to be the next Agger apparently.

One thing for certain, it’s pointless any of us, or Joe for that matter, having a wish list as large buys are out. It will be even worse if this Bradford guy buys the club because it would take all of his personal money to buy even two halfway decent players. Unless we get a real billionaire to takeover the club we need to stick with the devil we know and he does actually have an interest in us, whereas the Bradford bloke seems to see us as more of an investment opportunity.

Tom Toon- agree with all your comments except the sell Owen bit, if Owen finds clubs want him he will start playing better and scoring more goals

    which helps us

    1. More clubs may take interest and may force a bidding war.

    2. We cant survive without him easily because he’s the club captain, get rid of the captain and suffer concequences.

    3. The longer we keep him the more goals he’ll score and if he starts scoring loathes of goals it’ll save us from relegation

    4. it’ll also give us enough time to decide what we want to do with other players and maybe persuade him to sign a contract ( something like qualification for Europe)

    5. He can provide experience to younger promising strikers, Ranger,LuaLua

6.his goals would help us qualify into Europe by Cup or league and that may persuade him to stay

i have seen Zuculini and was reminded of him by going on that site, but i was told about Jorgensen by a Uni international student who told me to look him up on IMS. the only reason i even know about IMS is because i was informed by a few Dutch international students. One of them is even a paying member and has a proper account on it. What a site eh.

I dont mean to be dismissive TT, but these are professional scouts mate. I am not saying they are never wrong, but the information is compiled over a period of time based on the data they haved gathered when going to see them play. Whilst you may think they are garbage they might in fact have certain aspects to their game that are recognised as a cut above the rest. I am talking about attributes and characteristics that may be slightly more difficult to find in players.

    January:

    Eboue
    Taiwo
    Appiah
    Giles Barnes
    Gudjohnsen

    Summer

Experienced Centre Back (Offer Cuellar 1st team football)
Goal Scoring Right Winger (Move Jonas to left)
4th choice central midfielder (Carrick mould)
And depending on how the youngsters develop, a different striking option.

1st choice would be buzzing, plus there would be adequate back up in every position.

    Eboue-Colo-Cuellar-Taiwo

    Farfan-Barton-Appiah-Jonas

    —-Gudjohnsen-Martins

Back up: Beye, Bassong, Taylor, Enrique, Barnes, Nzogbia, Guthrie, 4th mid, Xisco, Ranger, Lua Lua,

Of funds are that tight (I’m sure they are), why spend more than half our budget on a Centreback when that is not our most urgent position, even though we do need to strengthen there?

If we’re shopping at the Boleyn, I’d rather Collison or Noble (or both!).

    Football experts aren’t scouts.

And I’m not going to listen to these people, so called ‘scouts’ have bought teams useless, utterly useless players in droves in the past, I’d rather trust my opinion over them and yes, I am confident I’d be better than a fair few scouts.

Zuculini is very good on FM09, and Everton are going to use the FM database for scouting!

So based on that I would sign:
    Razvan Rat
    Marquinhos
    Oscar Cardozo

    A few youngsters maybe:
    Nicolas N’Koulou
    Rodney Sneijder (Wesley’s brother)
    Eyong Enoh

Listen, Owen will not hand in a transfer request, so if the club cashed in on him in January for £3-£5 we would have to pay him almost £2 million to pay off the remainder of his contract.

Whatever happens we have made a loss on Owen. It would be suicidal to cash in on him, as he is our ONLY goalscoring threat we have at the club. Getting rid of him for a couple of million is just madness.

Spyro: No way Mathias Zanka Jørgensen is going to be the new Agger. Not in my opinion. He is pretty highly rated here, but honestly it would be 2-3 years before he would be anywhere near PL quality. If he came on now, he would get eaten alive. He still looks a bit out of his depth sometimes in the Danish league…

Btw: Agger is god, and really undervalued in my opinion. So assured on the ball, no-nonsense in his defending, great age, and has all the attributes you want in a central defender. On top of that he has a first-class attitude.. Boy how I would have loved if he had signed for us.

In my opinion, both him and Skrtel are better than Carragher, but obviously that’s three great CBs right there. I am envious.

i’m sure the rules say that you cant have more than two loan signings at anyone time and not more than four in a season.

so as we already have nacho on loan we would have to terminate his loan deal to be able to get 2 loans in, but 3?

unless jk has a loop hole in the prem rules 🙂
