Joe Kinnear is absolutely determined to improve the Newcastle squad in January, and quite honestly we cannot wait to see who Joe brings in – quality we hope.
Joe Kinnear – has already bid for left back in England
Joe said today:
“Mike Ashley will be looking to get his money back when he sells, that is about £240million,” “But if Newcastle end up relegated the club would only be worth £100million.”
“It wouldn’t make sense to sell any of out best players in January.” “I suppose people are waiting to grab him (Owen), so maybe we will lose him, but we can only lose him in the summer.”
“It wouldn’t make sense to let him go next month. If we got players to strengthen the side why weaken the striking department?”
“If Mark Viduka got his old injury, we’d be back down to two strikers. No-one is going, that would weaken the squad. No chance.
“If we could get like for like, lose somebody but get a better one in, I don’t mind doing that.” “I am looking to buy two players and maybe get two or three players on loan. That will happen 190 per cent.”
“I’ve already made one offer for a left-back and this is in England.”
So we wonder who that left back is?
Our guess would be Leighton Baines of Everton, because we could probably get him for a cut price £3M.
Everton paid £5M for him in the summer of 2007, from Wigan Athletic, but Baines is finding it difficult, for whatever reason, to get his game on Merseyside. He certainly had a great game against us in our 2-2 at Everton, that’s for sure.
But he would be a good acquisition for Newcastle, and certainly better than we have at the moment.
Other left backs who Joe may have bid for include Stephen Warnock of Blackburn, but we cannot see Blackburn selling, and also Wayne Bridge, of Chelsea, who deserves to be at a club where he will play regularly ever week.
There’s also 20 year-old Kyle Naughton of Sheffield United, who seems a fantastic young player, although some big clubs, like Manchester United are also interested in him.
And we were also interested during the summer in 19 year-old Liverpool youngster Emiliano Insua, who is Argentinian, and another great up and coming talent, who would settle well on Tyneside, with Coloccini and Gutierrez already here.
Who do you think the player could be?
