The bad news is that we are just one point out of 3rd bottom place in the league table, and the good news is that we are 4 points out of 8th place.
Joe Kinnear is looking forward to Spurs game on Sunday
So when owner Mike Ashley says he expects Joe to lead Newcastle into Europe next season, that isn’t as too far fetched as it may at first appear, especially if the lads can keep improving like they have since Joe arrived at the club in late September.
Joe told nufcTV this morning:
“The league is that tight at the moment we cannot let up,” “We cannot expect any favors from other teams and the only thing we have to concentrate on is our result.”
“If we win and everybody else wins around us then so be it, but we know that if we continue to pick up points the chances are we’ll climb away from trouble.”
“We’re unbeaten in five matches now, three of which were away, but we must carry on with that run into the New Year.” “I’m delighted with how things are going at the moment and confidence is very high.”
“We can’t wait for Spurs and hopefully we’ll be sat here talking about a six-game unbeaten run come Sunday night.”
How we perform on Sunday will better tell Newcastle fans whether last week was a flash in the pan, or whether the team is actually a lot stronger than we were when Joe arrived. Maybe we can climb that league, especially if we can get some good new players into the club next month.
But Sunday is yet another vital game for us, as we try to get up that league table, but wins is what we need, draws will not do it for us.
What do you think?
