Joe is confident about getting a win against Spurs on Sunday, but rightly, he’s taking nothing for granted, and that’s a good ploy with Newcastle United.
Joe Kinnear will take nothing for granted on Sunday
Joe talked today about Sunday’s game:
“It will be in front of a packed house, and everybody is looking forward to the game.” “We want to give the fans an early Christmas present.”
“The aim is to turn the corner before the new year and go into 2009 with 20-plus points.” “We have two massive home games over the festive period and we’re all looking forward to them.”
We have 19 points right now, (7 points from last 5 games), and while Joe was at Wimbledon his aim was always to get 26 points by the end of the year.
We have 3 games left this year, Spurs at home, Wigan away and Liverpool at home, so if we can win two of those three then we’ll be just one point short of 26, and that would be very good, given all the stuff that happened at the beginning of the season.
It would be great if we could get 25 points (or even more) before January comes along.
“There is a buzz about the place now.” “We need to beat Spurs and Liverpool and get something at Wigan.”“Then we’ll be looking into the new year around the top 10 area.”
“It will be a good place to start for us.” “We don’t want to get too carried away.” “We need to keep our feet firmly on the ground.”
“But I do want to keep my unbeaten record up at St James’ Park.” “We want to talk about positives, but we must be aware and not underestimate Spurs.” “I won’t take anything for granted.”
“I’m aware of the form that they are in since Harry has gone there. There has been a massive improvement.” “They have already been up and beaten us in the League Cup.”
“We have a score to settle, that’s for sure.”
It’s going to be a very interesting game to watch, that’s for sure, and a win will definitely send Newcastle fans home very happy, for a change. Oh and it’s Xmas next week, even more reason for the lads to go all out for a win.
Howay The Lads!!
