Gutierrez Still Has Feet Firmly On The Ground

Have you noticed how upbeat the players and Joe, and everybody connected with Newcastle United have been this week?

It’s frightening.

Jonas Gutierrez – loves playing ion front of fans at St. James’ Park

Anyway, we’ll probably been mentioning that in our preview for tomorrow’s game, which we’ll bring out later today, and it’s frightening only because we are usually in for a big let-down when things are so upbeat at Newcastle, as they are now.

Most players have been very upbeat this week and Jonas Gutierrez, who was just terrific last week for us at Portsmouth, is no exception.

Jonas told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“Winning against Portsmouth was our best performance of the season by far.”“And I think that we have reached a turning point now.” “Yet we have to continue that tomorrow.”

“I enjoy playing at St James’ Park – the fans are so generous to me and I want to repay them with good performances.”

Jonas is currently second to Danny Guthrie for our Man of the Match award at Fratton Park, but there are just 8 votes between them – and the vote is still open so if you haven’t yet voted, please do. While you are there make sure to vote in our other active polls too.

Gutierrez seems not to be getting carried away by his very good performances this season:

“I don’t know if it was the best performance from me so far.”

“But I do not think of it like that. Every game I focus on giving 100% and attempt to improve my game all round.”

“At Portsmouth it wasn’t about just me, every man played well for the team.”

“If we can do that more often we will be higher up the table. We all combined well together and worked very hard.”

“Every game we want three points because we want to leave the lower positions behind and climb the table.”

Spurs were known for their Argentine pair of Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa in the 1980s and of course we have Jonas and Fabricio Coloccini in our side right now, and we wouldn’t mind some other Argentines if they are as good as these two.

Jonas continued:

“It is an interesting coincidence.” “But we are focused on the game.”

“Spurs have good players, but if we can play well with our adventurous players we can get goals at any time, so I am optimistic about our future.”

All 3 points tomorrow and we’ll be off in orbit.

Comments welcome.

I really hope he scores tomorrow; I want to see the prove of his nickname ‘Spiderman’ 😉 .

He is a fantastic player who can give us lots of attacking options tomorrow.

Lads I know this is unrelated, but what do would others think of signing Jimmy Bullard? Fulham have said he may leave.

i think he is exactly what our midfield needs, he has a bit of size, he is quick, and is technically pretty good.

His set pieces are top class as well, and lets be realistic our set plays at the moment are rubbish.
