Kinnear Expects Owen Decision in Three or Four Days

There have been recent mischievous reports in the gossip papers that Michael Owen will wait until January, so he can talk to other clubs, to see what contract offers he may get.

michael-owen-hbnhg

Michael Owen – Joe expects decision in 3 or 4 days

But we don’t think that’s what Michael wants to do, or will do, and after the terrific last minute win against Spurs at St. James’ Park today, Joe Kinnear was asked if he had heard that from Michael or his advisers.

Kinnear responded by saying:

“No, that hasn’t been indicated to me. I am confident if we can agree on terms, it boils down to terms, nothing else.”

“The length of contract is perfect, he is happy with that, it just boils down to terms.”

“We have to sit down with Michael and the people who represent him and try to strike a deal.”

“I don’t think there is anything else we can do, we have both really got to agree on a number.”

“As far as I have been informed, that’s supposed to be in the next three or four days.”

And of course Newcastle are now up to 12th place in the league, after being near the bottom of the league after Kevin Keegan walked out on the club, presumably over a transfer dispute, in early September.

Newcastle’s chances of hanging on to their captain were heightened today by a second league win in succession against Spurs at ST. James’ Park, and now 6 games without a defeat.

Newcastle fans are in good spirit for the holidays, that’s for sure.   😀

There are also definite signs that Mike Ashley will work in concert with Joe and Dennis Wise to ensure Kinnear can strengthen the squad, by bringing in as many as 5 players next month.

If those players are class players, we’ll at least have a decent asquad, that may even be big enough, and then we can further strengthen in the summer.

Hopefully, Michael will have signed on the dotted line by then, along with Ameobi, Butt and Harper.

Comments welcome.

Cheers lads, was listening on the radio but didnt hear that part.

I heard of lot of Butt this and Guthrie that (good ways) from Pete and Bobby Moncur on Century and Bassong’s praises being sung.

Lennon being a fast little bugger must have caused us some prolems but considering Jose got a yellow card in the first half it sounded like he crawled on his ass and was subbed as he was knacked. Im sure someone will pick me up if I was wrong on that one.

Cant wait for highlights – lets hope that SKy give more than 10 minutes to our match at 10pm.

speaking of contracts, see Real have signed Diarra subject to a medical, that means Portsmouth have made over £31 mil on the transfers of Diarra and Muntari when they cost a combined £12 mil, £19 mil for a years worth of football…not bad that like is it!!

Had a disagreement with an old friend in the pub earlier, he stated that KK was responsible for the signings of Jonas/Colo and Bassong.
IMO and on the basis of information received i am under the impression that Wise and Jimenez/Vetere are responsible for these quality signings.
I will accept that KK was heavily involved in the signing of Guthrie.
Does anyone agree or am I going ga ga…..Help.

Wise and Jimenez/Vetere All found Colo – Bassong – Jonas, Bassong came on trial as KK hadnt seen him play and was then signed.

Other than that we dont know the exact details of each signing.

Ameobi was injured early on – he should have come off earlier as he was hobbling all over the place and constantly giving the ball away – JK obviously thought he could run it off with Viduka not being match fit, give him some credit – Ameobi has beemn playing well of late and is prob better than xisco or carroll on the bench by a long shot.
Wise got Bassong on trial – KK said keep him, Wise and co responsible for putting Jonas, Collo in fromnt of KK who said yes to them

I think if Man city want Owen they will get him, they will offer him ridiculous money he could not refuse but if the bloke has any ounce of loyalty and realises who is the better club we all know who that is then he will sign on the dotted line. It will prove what sort of bloke Owen really is.

That would be th ultimate xmas pressie if he signs. Then beating Wigan would aid the cause of prem survival.

Anyone noticed that Hull are starting to loose momentum. Had a great start and seem to be unable to continue – at the moment anyway.

Send the young lads in the FA cup to them and give the 1st a break. More concerned about getting prem survival.

I though owen was sh*$ against spurs and missed an absolute sitter. He has been playing well though and if he leaves then it will be because of the money. He needs to sign before the window opens or that speaks volumes of his intentions.

On an other note the defence was class tonite and enrique is becoming a great full back and will only get better!
