Jonas Gutierrez is one of the buys of the season for Newcastle United and he looks like a top top player, and how we actually got himn remains a bit of a mystery, but if we cannot other bargain buys like Jonas next month, we’ll be doing just fine.
Jonas Gutierrez – another top performance yesterday
Jonas told the Evening Chronicle today:
“The win against Tottenham was very important because before the game they were on the same points as us and we have now pulled away from them a little bit.”
“It’s a perfect start for us and we want to keep up the momentum.” “Charles N’Zogbia has got us off to a great start – it was a very good goal and well worked, with help from Shay.”
“Unfortunately we didn’t build early on and they got a goal.” “But we kept working hard and the winner was probably deserved.
“I was pleased for Damien Duff and Mark Viduka – it was good for them to combine for the winner after being on the bench.”
“This could be a very important win.”
Joe Kinnear has some options these days with Damien Duff, Steven Taylor and Mark Vudika all on the bench, and the competition for places will heat up even more once we get to February, and Joe Kinnear brings in up to 5 new top players into the club by then.
And speaking on the squad right now Gutierrez said:
“You always need players as back-up.” “Hopefully, Shola will be OK after picking up and injury and Oba Martins will be back as well.”
It looks like Shola is out for 10 days, and that will give a good chance to Mark Viduka to get some much needed match play on Boxing Day, since Oba Martins has also been ruled out for that game too.
That’s our next game on Friday against Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium, and it just turns out that we have a very poor record at that ground, since we’ve never won there, and that has to be good, because we can change that on Boxing Day.
The skillful Argentine, who seems to love it on Tyneside said:
“We want to put that to an end, of course.” “We must keep on trying to win every game.“
“I think we have a good opportunity to win our first game at the JJB Stadium.” “It would be good to change some history.”
Joe Kinnear should probably be checking with Fabricio and Jonas, to see if there are any more good Argentine players available, who would like to play their football on Tyneside, since the both of them have been terrific buys for our club.
Roll on Friday!

Key part of that article;
“The tribunal date has been set for February 2009, and will determine whether the Magpies have to pay up to £12 million in compensation to the La Liga outfit.”
That is the absolute maximum we would have to pay, but i don’t see what rules we have broken. NUFC have simply exploited an odd rule in the transfer system. Therefore we are likely to incur a significantly reduced charge, or avoid any charges all together.

Comment #45JK has given our team a set style of play, something we haven’t had for years now. Everyone knows what their roles are and if there is nothing going we just pass backwards and keep possession, i love it.

Comment #51always keegan – I agree that Oba being out is devastating but Fat Duka is always dangerous. His touch and vision will always create trouble.
Well, more trouble than Shola anyway!

Comment #52sorry for the doom and gloom but this is from people in the know – I’m not saying they’ll leave or that we’ll sell them but these are clubs putting together bids for our players – players love playing in the champions league and winning medals – you would be mad to think otherwise.
my mates been wrong before but he’s also been right quite a few times.
Man U to come in for Jonas in Jan
Spurs to try and grab zogs to fill thier troublesome left wing problem
Arsenal to come in for Bassong (he’s young and french after all)
hopefully we’ll reject all bids and the players will want to stay

Comment #53@william – I’ve been on this blog since it started and have helped Ed out a few times on performance etc putting my own unpaid time into to ensure we have a decent forum for toon fans to air thier views. I also did the banner with the big question mark in place of a manager – does that help.
I’m simply informing real toon fans of what is being said in football circles

Comment #54ED – check this Argentine guy out he is lightning quick…plays as a striker but can also play down the left channel and is incredibly skillful. LAVEZZI is only 23 years old and his dribbling skills are very very similar to those done by another, more famous Argentine..Leo Messi. Believe me when I say it this guy is one of the players that has left a lasting impression of great potential. I felt the same the first times I saw Messi play and look how far he has come. Trust me and take a look at him he is amazing and maybe as fast as Martins. He would become our best dribbler on the ball at the club that’s for sure. He also battles it out in the park a very competitive player and shrugs away every challenge you throw at him. He is exactly what we need and every club would die to have him, lucky for us he isn’t recognized yet. Lets grab him before it’s too late or it will be Arshavin all over again. Guys check him out; Ezequiel Iván Lavezzi of Argentina only 23yrs old! AMAZING PLAYER!! He currently plays for Napoli but I am certain he would be tempted by the EPL. He has his international teammates here with him in Coloccini and Gutierrez also.
Ezequiel Iván Lavezzi of Napoli that’s my pick of players to sign without a doubt.
Tell me what you guys think I bet you will all be impressed.

Comment #55That link doesn’t do him much justice.. he is actually much better than what I see of him on youtube. The guy is ubelievably quick, strong and talented. Best of all he ain’t recognied yet, is still very young and is Argentinian (and we have to of his teammates here already)- promising I know.
I would do Oba style backflips if we land this gem.
GO GET HIM JFK!!!

Comment #57Let’s get one thing straight about JONAS, he is not half the player MILNER is!
JONAS flatters to deceive. He runs and puts his heart in it and has a tidy touch, but when it comes to deliverance, making and scoring goals his stats don’t compare to MILNERS.
I wonder if yous know anything about football on this site.
