Juanito Again Linked With Possible Newcastle Move

There is news today that Newcastle may again be in for 32 year-old Real Betis defender Juanito, whose contract runs out in June.

juanito-23

Juanito – very experienced Spanish defender

It’s not the first time we have been linked with this central defe3nder who has played 25 times for the Spanish national side, and 224 times for Real Betis, where he is currently the club captain.

We’re not sure why Kinnear would be interested in the player, unless he sees him as a left back to challenge Jose Enrique for a couple of years, but certainly his experience and heading ability would add something to our defense, and he’d be a superb utility defender for the side.

It seems that Juanito is still disillusioned with the La Liga side, after they refused to meet his demands on a new contract and his discontent has reportedly alerted Newcastle manager Kinnear, who is said to be keen to add some experience to his back line.

But Kinnear is likely to face a fight for Juanita, if indeed he is a Newcastle target, because he is also attracting attention from Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.

Joe has said he wants to strengthen the Newcastle squad in general in January, so it may be that Juanito could be good value for the club, and he could play for another two to three seasons, and is certainly a very hard tackling player with lots of experience.

For left back we think that Everton’s Leighton Baines may be Joe’s first choice, but in last night’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Everton center back Yobo was injured with a hamstring pull, and Joleon Lescott moved over to center-back with Leighton coming in at left-back.

If Yobo is out for a while, that may well put a spanner in the works of getting Baines to Newcastle in January.

With Big Sam now at Blackburn Rovers there would appear to be no chance of getting former Liverpool left-back Stephen Warnock, who was also one of our targets last summer.

Just 8 days to go until the transfer window opens, and we hope we can get a few players in very early next year.

Comments welcome.

    Why sign him??

we have coloccini and bassong playing brilliantly and decent back up with taylor.

juanito probably is a good player but he will be on high wages

Juanito has at least 2 more years left in his tank,
i wouldn’t mind having him here instead Cacapa, but the problem is his salary demands knowing this is his last contract…..probably he’ll demand to be on a bigger salary than Colo himself.

    Media drivel.

    1. CB is one of least priorities.
    2. He is a Spanish mercenary.
    3. We’d get someone younger.
    4. He isn’t better than what we have got.

spyro-just so you know mate, that nzogbia story that is now circulating was only posted today on l’equipe..so, maybe the comments are fresh, who knows. I could understand british media regurgitating quotes, but a french football site i’m not too sure about, considering all the british press claim the source is l’equipe, and the story was only posted today..could be bad news?..

Bassong says N’Zogbia is happy, N’Zogbia says he is happy (interview with nufcTV after the Spurs game).

N’Zogbia’s agent has made up quotes in the past, the french press have made up quotes in the past.

Whats the betting all of this is made up (or they are old quotes) because the media want to add more ‘doom and gloom’ after the news Owen wont sign (face it he wont, ‘delayed’ it my ars!).

Other rumours are a swap deal for Sakho. Why do we need another youngster who is a CB that can play LB, we already have 3 of those!

    Complete media drivel.

News on N’Zogbia leaving the club again. Speculation of a possible swap between N’Zogbia and the kid with the unicorn.

if we sign this dude he’ll only take over the position of Cacapa making the CB order

    Coloccini
    Bassong
    Taylor
    Juanito
    Cacapa
    Kadar

and Juanito will mainly be brought in for experience in training, which is not worth his high wages. if he was 5 yeears younger maybe but to old and not worth it

What about Elano? Rumour has is that MH wants to offload him in Jan. Anyone think he would be a good buy for us? He’s 27! Could be the midfield playmaker were looking for or not. If he was to stay fit that is. What do you guys think?

what do you think of this? (i know it’s probably impossible to pull this off, but i like these “games” 🙂 )

    prayers we should sign:

    onuoha – 3m
sakho – 6m (apparenty psg want 6 for him)
    veloso – 6m (his manager said he’s cheap: 6-7m)
gourcuff – 6m+ owen (to AC Milan)
    gomis – 10m
    ——————
    total: 31 m

    sell:
    smith (65k/week), geremi (65), shola (30), viduka (65), cacapa (30), taylor (12m+35k/week), butt (35k/week), owen (part of exchange-120k/week), harper (30).

total: 12m (plus fees we’d get for other players, can’t tell how much) + 475k /week (saved from wages)

new signing would cost us aprox 200 k/week, so we’d save 275k/week = 14.300.000 saved in wages/year, and our squad would be:

    given/krul
    beye/onuoha colo/tozer basso/kadar enrique/sakho
    jonas/lualua barton/veloso guthire/gourcuff zog/duff
    martins/ranger gomis/xisco

and onuoha and sakho can also play as CBs

who wouldn’t be afraid of that squad? 🙂 what do you think?

Taylor is good back up, but if we could fetch 8million for him i would snap their hands off. We could then use that money to buy Bassong’s brother, or cousin….or sister….or anyone with the surname, Bassong 😀
