Jaunito – will talk to current club Betis first

As we reported yesterday the 32-year-old Spanish International’s contract at Real Betis will run out in the summer, and maybe the 6’0″ center-back could be picked up with a reasonable fee next month.

However, Juanito’s agent, Tente Sanchez, has said the player will talk to Betis first, before he considers a move elsewhere. Junaito has played 224 times for the Spanish club since 2001.

Sanchez said:

“Absolutely nothing has come to me. If something comes, they will have to talk with Betis because he has contract with them until June.”

“We are not going to arrive at any agreement with anybody else until things are sorted out with Betis.”

“If this doesn’t happen, other possibilities will be opened up and I’m talking about next year. If someone wants him now, they have it relatively easy – they have to talk with Betis.”

“We’ve already had a meeting and at the start of January we will talk again to see how the situation is. The idea is to get in contact with each other and know what either party is proposing.”

The agent doesn’t say too much there, and we knew he would like to stay at the Spanish club, but the issue is whether they will offer him the wages he wants.

If they don’t then other clubs could be in for him, and one of them is rumored to be Newcastle.

Is this a true story about Newcastle’s interest?  We don’t know, but he would appear to be a decent acquisition at Newcastle, that’s for sure.

buy an old centre back? we have 2 world class central defenders in Coliccini and Taylor and a world class centre half in the making in Bassong.
we already have Cacapa and i feel that he is a better player than Juanito.
just like what Yeomsta said buy midfielders.
we should buy Guti, then we would have two Gutierrezes on the team.

well to be honest he might be good but i thought we were looking to build a young team like ashley said. not going to buy 32 years olds plus our defence is good now anyway so i would say buy maidfielders and lb plus a good striker sell owen in jan as he does not want to be here.

1st of all: guti is 31 and would need time to adjust..not to mention he’s expensive..so no
    2. taylor world class? sounds nice, but far from the truth
    3. junaito who? why? old, expensive (wages), would need time to adjust and his arrival would break a perfectly good defence we have…and taylor would want to leave…amm…when can we expect him? at the beginning or end of january? 🙂
