Kinnear has both suspension and injury problems for tomorrow’s game after Sebastien Bassong was sent off, and Jose Enrique, Habib Beye and Mark Viduka are now injured, and unable to participate in tomorrow’s vital game.
Joe Kinnear – squad is just not big enough
Joe said today:
“Liverpool is another game and another opportunity to get points.”
“It doesn’t matter what XI you put out you try to get the best out of them.”
“We always have a chance at home because of the supporters.”
“You can fire up players too but the fans are massive for us.”
Kinnear is right when he says the injuries we have had since he came to the club, only magnifies the fact that our squad has never been big enough for a year or two.
But Joe talks to Mike Ashley quite a lot, and he has got that across to Ashley, and hopefully we can remedy the situation in January.
“I have put that message across to the owners.” “I am one to look to the future.”
“And because of long-term injuries here we always needed at least three players to come in.”
“Now because of the latest injuries, we probably need four or five.”
“We will see what happens with Habib and Jose, but we need to do something about it because we don’t have the squad to cope with it.”
Joe will be concentrating tomorrow on how the lads can get an unlikely 3 points against Liverpool, because another poor result like yesterday will finish off the year on a low note, and we’ve had far too many of those during this last year.
The crowd can be the 12th man tomorrow, and even though we will not have our full side out against Liverpool, whoever the starting eleven are, we still can get something out of the game.
We’ve just got to believe that, support the players throughout the game, and anything is possible tomorrow.
Weak heart never won fair maiden.
