Michael Owen Is All We’ve Got Against Liverpool

Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear has admitted that Michael Owen is our only hope we have of scoring against Liverpool today.

Michael Owen – all we have got today?

Joe said today:

“’What do you do besides pray? “

“But I’ve always had that nothing-to-lose mentality, especially for 10 years at Wimbledon. We won’t go down for lack of fighting, that’s for sure.”“Michael is the only striker we’ve got and he needs to be at his best. We’re just looking for him to come up trumps now, to be honest.”

“We’ve only got Michael and AN Other – and that’s Andy Carroll. There is no other striker. But Michael is used to pressure.”

There’s some reverse psychology in there, that Andy will get and he should be going all out to get a goal today, to prove his manager wrong.

Andy looked good at Wigan and he will need to impose himself on the game with martins, Ameobi and Viduka all out injured.

But the lads will need to go all out today to try to get some points, because the league is so tight at the moment.

Our two successive wins had things going great, but on the other hand two successive defeats will have the opposite effect.

And we can do without that – at the end of what has been a terrible year for Newcastle fans.

Howay The Lads!!

So what is the team likely to be, with Beye and Enrique out the squad is looking a bit depleted. Looks like Edgar, Taylor and Carrol will start with some Bairns on the bench. LuaLua is also a possible starter!

sirjastoon – agree that we should at least put Ranger, Kezenga on the bench – we need to start using our talented youngsters, Owen, Rooney, Milner etc were all playing first team football at thier ages

PLEASE dont start zog at left back, NEVER at left back.

Have we won a single game with zog at left back yet ??

I can only remember watching the goals he made us concede from that position after we lost matches.

    Tell you what about today.

Carroll needs to shine now, Ameobis done it a bit. Carroll reminded me of Shearer against Wigan, seriously.
If he gets started he needs to take the scruff by the neck and have em.

Canny depressing when you’ve got one or two fit strikers from what…a possible six or seven.
Dunno what we’re gonna do today.

Must admit I’ma little disconcerted about how Diamond Joe is handling youth players. he dosn’t seem to rate them at all. I doubt this is Reverse Psychology as when our “first teamers” don’t perform he should show them there’s Underagers like Ranger, Lua Lua, Zamblera, Kadar, Spear etc. Snapping at their heels by bringing them on but he seems to want to stick to his first team and that’s it.
we risk an Exodus of youth players if some of them don’t get a chance!
