Sammy Lee Has Nothing But Respect For Newcastle Fans

Liverpool showed by their display at Newcastle United yesterday, that they are a team to be reckoned with in the Premier League this season, and they could in fact win it for the first time in their history.

Sammy Lee – has got nothing but respect for Newcastle supporters

And Lee, speaking in the absence of Rafa Benitez, who is recovering from illness, said:

“The knowledge and deep respect of the supporters of this football club is second only to our supporters.”“They recognize a good performance. I’ve got nothing but respect for the supporters here.”

“We’ve got maximum points from a place where it’s never very easy to get maximum points.”

“But every one of our players will be looking to improve. The difference with world-class players is that they don’t sit on what they’ve got.”

Rafa was in the stands and after his recent operation he seems to have lost weight, and it’s a long time since we’ve seen him smile so much. Benitez is recovering following minor surgery to remove kidney stones and has been told to take it easy.

So he’s in the stands but on the phone to the Liverpool bench every minute of the game – that’s taking it easy from Rafa’s viewpoint – the man is a workaholic.

If Benitez couldn’t smile after his team’s brilliant performance yesterday, he never will, because there’s no doubt Rafa is a very special manager, where no performance is good enough for this man.

He’ll probably go through this game this week with the players and ask why they didn’t win it by 11-0.  😀

But it’s nice to see him smile, and of course with the very passionate Sammy Lee at his side, they make up an excellent team.

More interested in us making some decent transfers now, to be honest.

Yesterday I was unrealistic my realistic Newcastle team is:

    Given
    Zapata–Bassong–Colo–Enrique

    Jonas–Veloso–Ninis–Barnetta

    Oba–Zigic

    Bench/extraplayers: Kompany–Guthrie–Smith–Butt–Pandev–Boyd–Krul–Zog–Barton–Beye–Taylor–Camacho–Xisco–Morganella–Lustenberger–Azpilicueta

    That means we sell:
    Ameobi
    Owen
    Duke
    Duff

As a die hard Newcastle fan of 43 years I actually enjoyed watching Liverpool play football yesterday and felt compelled to applaud Gerrard off the field. It was the best display I’ve seen in years….

markE im sorry but thats still thoroughly unrealistic as far as im concerned.

again, veloso will NOT be signing for us. if ashley is looking to put 20 million a season into newcastle, how do you expect us to sign players like veloso, pandev, kompany, zigic, ninis, all at once!?

i seriously doubt kompany will be leaving man c after what, half a season?. Ninis will have to be paid over the odds for because he’s vital to pana. I’m sorry i realise its slightly more realistic than your team yesterday, yet it is for me, still thoroughly unrealistic.

I was very impressed with the way the fans reacted to yesterday’s thrashing – Lee was right to point it out.

Mind you, if we’re 2nd best to their fans, had they all got laryngitis yesterday, or what??

Those at the game did us proud, regardless of the result. And frankly, the result wasn’t a surprise – just look at the size and quality of our squad compared to theirs!
