Reports Newcastle After Marseilles Left Back

There are reports today that Newcastle may be interested in Olympique Marseille fullback Taye Taiwo, but we have no idea if there are any truth in these reports.

Taye Taiwo – looks a more than decent left-back

Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear’s top requirement is to bring in another left back to challenge current starter Jose Enrique, and we also don’t have any suitable and experienced right back replacement for injured Habib Beye.

Taiwo has already said this month that he is interested in moving to England, and he is also wanted by moneybags Manchester City, so we hope they don’t force the price up, otherwise we will not have much chance of recruiting this player, who looks more than decent.

6′ tall 23 year-old Taye Ismaila Taïwo was born in April, 1985 in Lagos, Nigeria and currently plays left back for Olympique de Marseille. Taiwo is known for his left-footed long range shots, crosses, physical strength, pace, and tackling ability.

Sounds good to us, and his left foot shots have been clocked at close to 82 mph, so he has a shot on him, that’s for sure.

Taiwo has been at Marseilles since 2004 and has appeared 117 times for the French side with 8 goals, so Habib Beye should know all about this player, and if we are interested Habib could be key to getting the player to sign for Newcastle.

And of course we also have Nigerian International Oba Martins already on Tyneside.

Tiawo has played 26 times for Nigeria with 7 goals, and was the 2006 Young African Player of the Year.

Comments welcome.

Taiwo is decent, but not worth what they’d want for him.

    He isn’t great at defending.

Inconsistent, isn’t great at attacking either, he can just striker a ball well.

Supreme player, doubt he’ll come unless he’s some kind of blood brother with Martins 🙂

Any players would obviously choose Man City over us.
    Higher salary,Ambitious and going places.
Maybe not at this moment but they will push on away from mid table type teams after a few dabbles in the transfer market and possibly a new manager.

Kinnears top requirement should be an attacking central midfielder.

Not someone to challenge enrique…thats secondary.

He is a full back, 7 goals for a defender is bloody good IMO.

We need someone to replace Enrique. Someone as good as Beye so we have balance on either side of the full back positions.

Not sure Taiwo would be the right kind of player. Someone like Lahm would be the right kind of player.

Sirjasontoon……I can’t be bothered aswell, just need some xtra cash for New Year 😉

I wanna make a single bet on Villa with the coeficient being 1.95 for them.

Don’t understand how it goes with the odds but here we have coeficients.

1000 euros on Villa would be 1950 if they win.
But i wont put that much,i’m concidering 200 euros bet.

Mates, I feel like we are just giving Hull the lift they need right now…just as we did it for the spuds in the carling cup 🙁 Why do we always give those lifts to clubs in trouble?

    do you feel the same?

taiwo is great,he is in the same mould with ashley cole, but he is more powerful and he has a wicked left foot.he was the third best player in 2005 world youth championship, but i doubt he will come to newcastle because he wants to play in championship.

SetvieA, he’s playing currently at left back and he’s doing very exciting! Not a very offensive lad, but defensively (and that’s what we really need!!!) he is absolutely strong. He reminds me kind of Micah Richards!

Sunderland i think had a 9 milion bid rejected for him in the summer so opted for McCartney instead. Would be expensive especially for a left back but from what i have heard he is a decent player

ELFER – Sounds like just the fella! I wonder if that’s what they have in mind?

I remember seeing a quality centre back years ago at Man City called Micah Richards, what ever happened to that player? Strange one.

Also recall Onuoha being a good solid defender. Wonder if he would be worth having a look at considering they will be buying centre backs galore.. hmmmmm.

Turkish…I doubt that Taiwo would want to see Beye in crouches right now 🙂

One more thing you forgot to mention yesterday when you were posting the list with the best fans.

1-Red Star(unfortinatelly)….much better than Leeds fans and probably Fener’s and Panathinaikos

If Red Star had the money Fener has you’d be singing a different tune.

Where was Fener when Red Star won the Champions League and when they were playing in front of 100 000 on their stadium Marakana.

We need a RB just as important. Without Enrique and Beye we have no natural fullbacks in the squad.
