Kinnear To Sell Three Players For £16M

The Newcastle Journal is reporting today that Joe Kinnear has identified three of his squad who he hopes will generate around £16M in transfer funds in the January window.

geremi-7285.jpg

Geremi – could be on his way in January

That will certainly help Joe bring in the five new additions to the squad he thinks Newcastle require to stay competitive in the Premier League for the rest of the season.

Michael Owen and Shay Given are not on that list, but we would expect Geremi and young Xisco to be two of them, since Joe never uses either player, unless he has to.

But exactly how Joe thinks they will bring in £16M is somewhat puzzling, unless he has Alan Smith down there too.

But that’s hard to imagine since Alan is not fit until the end of the month.

One of things Joe will have to guard against is not to sell any of our players until we are sure we can get replacements, so we expect the players to be sold only when we have new players at the club or lined up for definite.

New players arriving at Newcastle is not looking too positive at the moment, with clubs unwilling to sell in January, half way through the season.

Kinnear was asked if he now knew how much he would have to spend in January, and of course he shouldn’t answer that question, because it will only alert other clubs as to how much we have to spend, and they will price their players accordingly.

Joe said:.

“I am aware of how much we have bid for players,”

“There are certain players I am trying to sell at the moment so a lot will depend on how much I get back for that.”

“There won’t be any surprise exits. None of the big boys will go but other players may, with a value of £16m for three of them.”

“It is in Dennis Wise’s quarters at the moment. He is the one wheeling and dealing, he is the one selling them.”

“We’re trying to get funds back in and he is aware of the players I want.”

We have to hope Dennis Wis is putting in long hours right now, since it seems his responsibility to both sell and buy the players, although Joe identifies who they are, which is how it should be.

We are assuming that’s the way it is now, because that’s what Joe has told us.

Let’s hope we see some action shortly in this transfer window.

More paper rubbish, 16 million for who we wouldnt get that for Owen Given Duff, let alone Geremi,Xisco,Smith. We’ll get 2 in on loan and no more. We dont have the silly money Man City do to force clubs to sell. 12 mill for Bridge no way.

Someone is living in cloud cuckoo land which idiot is going to pay £16 million for three of our fringe players. Kinnear said he was in total control of transfers but now says Ashley could say Given has to be sold, other reports (if true)say he will have to battle Wise over transfers. What the hell is going on? We should have had new players already sorted.

hahaha who would be dumb enough to pay a combined 16 mill for those guys!

please lets start thinking in the real world. we cant sell any players at the moment and the goal should be to get a couple players to make sure we’re still in the league come next season.

then get rid of kinnear, get a proper manager in and start rebuilding.

    The likely candidates to get rid of are as follows;

Geremi, Xisco, Cacapa, Smith. No three combination will generate 16 million pounds.

He has to be talking about N’zogbia with two of these combined, even then thats a stretch.

I just assume Kinnear has gone mad again to the press.

The three players in question are Given, Taylor and N’Zogbia. No doubt about that, and they have been identified, not by Kinnear, but by Ashley and the poison dwarf Wise as our three most immediately marketable assets. Ashley will use the January window to continue the asset stripping policy he began in the summer with the sales of Milner, Faye and Emre. Under Ashley, Newcastle United are a selling club in exactly the same way we were in the dark days of the 70’s and 80’s under Westwood, Seymour and McKeag.

The money generated from these sales will not be re-invested in new players either. The only incoming transfers we are likely to see are a couple more untried 17 year olds and maybe a couple of duffers on loan. We need to prepare ourselves for Championship football, not just next season but for the foreseeable future. That’s where Ashley and his cronies are taking us.

    Well what a shock!

We yet again have to sell before we can buy! This is typical of the MA regime. Ever since he’s been at th club we have had to sell before we buy.

Think of Dyer, Parker, Emre, Milner and Faye ect…

Does he really think we can achieve anything doing it this way?

It’s a joke, we’ve been reduced to the likes of Bolton, Bor, Portsmouth ect…

We, if were lucky will be a middle of the road team for the next 10 yrs until that Fat **** has left this club!

It’ll be Charlie for about 7 million. Gutted if that happens. I think he’ll sell for about 10 million and spend no more than that. Not that Ashley won’t spend a penny, just that no one will want to come. No way can we attract 5 good players.

Spyro – I’m loving your enthuiasm, but 5m for Xisco? Do you think there would be any other club willing to pay what we paid for him?

Anyway I doubt very much Ashley would let him go as it would prove all along that Keegan was right and the lad isn’t good enough.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him play once or twice though.

Were all saying who will be sold, but don’t you think it’s so sad that were even having this discussion? It’s a complete joke that we have to sell before we can buy. But this has been the case for 2 yrs now since fat Ash arrived!!!

The 16M has to be for Given and Owen, but if not maybe its:

    N’Zogbia 10M
    Smith 4M
    Geremi 2M

The above prices are inflated and we’ll be lucky to get 10M for the three of them in todays market…..

He is a businessman and i don’t think he could care less about that. IMO Keegan left simply because the player was signed over his head, not because of the players lack of ability.

I think Xisco is a definite out , Keegan did not want him and Kinnear has never played him . How much will we get for him ? i think no more than 3 million . Geremi will go for 2 million . Then Given , its a bidding war between Man city & Spurs so i reckon it could go up to 15 million depending on how much man city wants him . i say swap him for Bale and Bent or to city for Elano and 10 million

Where Mike holds a flush-when it comes to developing and brining in young players for the future-this is defiantly not his strong hand-there are no aces!! He needs to get grip-and get a grip fast!! I still welcome Ash back to the club-in the director’s box-and take charge!! But my patients are being tested not for the first time –and disappointment seems to be on the cards! The transfer market is not in full swing-but we need to see a change in attitude-towards his manger/players and most of all-WE the fans!!
