Hughton Thinks Newcastle Could Have Edged It Yesterday

Newcastle United assistant manager Chris Hughton stood in for Joe during the interview after yesterday’s game and insisted that Joe Kinnear wasn’t snubbing the media after their 0-0 FA Cup draw with Hull City.

chris-hughton-22

Chris Hughton – gave interview after game yesterday
We felt with a little luck we could have won the game, especially if we had taken the chances we had early in the game, when the first goal would have been all important.

But Hull also had their chances to win it, and in the end the game could have gone either way.

Hughton felt Newcastle were unfortunate not to have snatched victory.

“I think given the fact that we are the away side coming here, probably we edged it, certainly on goalscoring chances.”

“We are probably the ones slightly more aggrieved we didn’t come away with the win, but they are a very good side and showed they have a good squad.”

“It was a typical cup tie and became very open in the second half and could have gone either way.”

Hughton was filling in for Joe Kinnear and it seems the press were a  little annoyed that Joe didn’t turn up for the intervie so Chris told them why he hadn’t come to speak to the press:

“Every now and again his throat gets a little sore – he does a lot of shouting on the touchline.”

It was interesting to watch Joe during the game since he seemed to have an ongoing discussion with the fourth official throughout the match – and yes Joe seems to talk a lot during the game and we’ve noticed he has a little cough now and again through interviews to clear his throat.

The press can hardly make a big story out of this molehill – or can they? 😀

Can anyone tell me why we can’t bring the youngstars through.

This is the most single frustrating thing for me!!!

Ranger, Lualua and Godsmark could have won that game yesterday!!!

NUFC are so stupid it’s doing my head in and making me ill. Fair enough if we get 10 for Given if he really doesn’t want to be here, there’s no point keeping an unhappy player, but now we’re linked with Boruc !!!!!!

So we waste more money when we have KRUL ( who will probably also now leave for Chelsea) and Harper. ARGH!!

Every day I dream of Sakho, Sissoko, Elano, Johnson etc and every day we get linked with Kenny, Boruc, Ferguson, Quashie and other dross, to go alongside our existing dross of aging, overpaid sicknotes whose legs have gone and are only here for the money.

And I will cheerfully throttle the next person who says you don’t win aything with kids!!!!!!!!!!
We desperately need freshening up with the likes of Lua Lua, Krul, Kadar and Ranger, instead of Butt, Smith, Duff, Viduka, Geremi, Owen et al.

Or manager is a total moron. Only we could go from SBR to Joke Kinnear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why couldn ‘t Ashley have done a bit of homework and got a good foreign technical coach in the first place and avoided this bloody armegeddon.

Why are we not giving managers chance to stay? You do not expect Kinnear to come in a get us to Europe do you? It took Keegan at least 10 games to stabilize our defense but it took less for Kinnear.

Would people give him a chance? Moyes did crap in his first season at Everton but the next season he brought them into Europe.

What match was he watching ???

The fact that Hull had the reserves out and we still couldnt win does not bode well. No midfield, exEMO playing out his time, Butt too slow and cant pass – thankfully we had Shay and Bassong – with a couple of cameos from Jonas.

It’s the football I’m watchin that is doing my head in.

I don’t like long ball game!

Kinnear is always moaning about injuries ect… How do the fringe players feel listening to him moaning all the time?

    He talks shi*!

We only had 2 players missing yeaterday from our 1st eleven yet he still moaned!

Stuart – whilst not jokinheres biggest fan I think he has no say on signing or sales – we still have llama and the poison dwarf in charge of that. As such he can only make do with the dross hes got – latest rumour in Artur Boric (good for a night out) and Leroy Litta (Owens replacement) – I wouldnt want to manage that team

Stuart – agree that the youngsters should get a game – everybody could see Carroll faded yesterday and yet no Xisco. What must he do to get a game??

Perhaps jokinhere was after a defeat to bolster teh need for transfers in – could he be that clever???

    I agree. It’s Mr Pound Land’s fault!

But yet still we hear nothing from him. He must know that if there is no good business done this transfer window he will have a mutiny on his hands!

But I don’t think it bothers him to be honest!

Joke kinnear has adequately shown why he wasn’t on a list of 500 for the job.

Appallingly negative tactics, no youth development and with a Wimbledon long ball background, just as awful to watch as Allardyce.
If you’re happy with that, fine.

Nick, at last, finally a supporter who watches the same games as me!

Even at home we average about 2 chances a game! That can’t be good enough. We’ve been lucky that we’ve taken the chances and our opponants haven’t taken theirs!

Otherwise it would look a very different PL.

You can only go on playing this bad for so long before the luck runs out!

We are being linked with Pap..not 1 player we have been linked with so far has floated my boat.
The groundwork for transfers should have been done months ago but to me that doesn’t seem the case.

Yesterday we should have fielded a team of kids instead we play a senior team and now have an extra game that we can ill afford in a cup we have no chance of winning…madness in my opinion.

Only 4 days into the window and I really felt we would see Mike bury the Hatchet and build us a team to be proud of and I hope he still does…but in all honesty I am deluding myself as this is not going to happen any time soon.

Sirjason- It is more than clear now after 3 and a half transfer windows that Ashley doesn’t intend to spend his own money on the club.

We should stop expecting it to happen now. I expect a couple of loan signings that’s all!

the money from season tickets (x3 in some cases), Milner should at least be invested – thats without Cashleys grand plan of 20million a year – someting he forgot to mention until he was turned on – funny that.

Apparantly lardy is back in town soon and should be taking a more hands on role !!!! Hopefully around llamas and poison dwarfs neck

If we have to sell Xisco that just proves that Wise and Ashley have it all wrong for Gods sake!!!

I can’t even ask for Ashley out as it won’t happen!

If not Bruce, it would have to be Shearer, but he would need money to spend. That would get Ashley brownie points!

THis window is going to offer a big insight as to where the club is going – if funds are made available perhaps ahsley has seen the light and realised NUFc is not poundland or if players are sold with the likes of litta and co replaceing them we are the next woolies – not Leeds as they still have a team

We will not be getting anybody new. I agree Bruce is a “plastic” Geordie and only when it suits him. He turned us down did he not? Bobby Charlton forsook his roots years ago. Uncle Joe was supposedly a stop-gap appointment but it looks like he will preside over a Championship club if Ashley and Wise have their way. Bring on the youngsters, give them a chance, and let the deadwood drift off down the Tyne and out to sea! Up to us fans to help pull the team up the table and onto a cup run – nobody in management will do it. Even Beardsley and Moncur have got their hands down Ashley’s trousers now. Shameful.

Shows how far we have fallen if toon fans would even consider that manc Bruce
I keep hearing judge Ashley after this window why would it be any different this window to the last few?
Given,Owen and Zog look to be on the way out
Harper and Butt have not signed knockdown contracts and look to be off
Viduka not getting renewed in the summer while not a bad thing this is a large number of the first team squad going or gone
add to that cacapa smith shola all not good enough Xisco who kinnear refuses to play and his reluctance to play the youth players
we need huge investment which dosnt look to be coming
so is clear to see why people are worried about us being relegated

I agree with those who have said what we watch under JK is horrible, just the long ball game. I got blasted from one or tow last night for saying we dont play to Owens strengths. But with this long ball trash, we dont, he’s not the type of player to get onto a ball lobbed in the air from the defence.

As for JK, he came as nobody else would. Other managers have been talked about, but lets face it, they wouldnt work under the setup Ashley wants. JK got a lucky break, I think his luck is running out. I never wanted him here, but can’t see any manager with sense wanting to replace him.

We are knackered while Ashley owens our club and it could be for sometime while the credit crunch goes on.

its not NUFC that is making you ill its you. . . you wouldnt in 10000million years dream of Sakho, Sissoko joining us if someone hadnt likned us with them, and if you were as good as elano and especially johnson would you want to play for us????? nope atleast a team in europe if you were going to leave. its remarkably not jk or even ma’s fault who the hell we get linked with as much as most ppl wish it was so it gives you another reason to shoot them down. jk has said that we have bids in for players yet we continually get linked with more and more so does that add up. . . nope the fact we are getting linked with any one and everyone is because the more ppl they link us with the more chance they have got getting it rite.

If you actually follow the continental game like Tom Toon and myself, you too would be aware of the likes of sakho, D’Alesandro and other players were (likned ??) to etc.

My whole point is, no, the likes of Elano wouldn’t come because we have a piss poor manager. Get a grip. If you are happy with diabolical long ball mediocrity that’s fine, but how bad does it have to get ??
