Kinnear Has No Money From Ashley For January Sales

Joe Kinnear has talked today to the Sunday Sun about the transfer window, so let’s see what he says so we can better ascertain what our chances are of getting some good players into the club are by four weeks tomorrow, when the transfer window will close.

6386658

Xisco – to be sold in January – but he’s never had a chance?

It seems like one player Kinnear definitely wants to sell is 22 year-old Spanish Under-21 International Xisco, who we are told was brought to Newcastle against Keegan’s wishes, and was just one of the reasons for the volcano that erupted on the last day of the sumer transfer window.

When Xisco has appeared at Newcastle, he’s looked a decent player but hardly worth the £5.7M we are supposed to have paid Deportivo La Coruna for him. It appears that the sale of Xisco is the one that Kinnear hopes will bankroll his first signing with as Newcastle manager.

But whether we can find a buyer for Xisco, who is willing to pay anywhere near £5.7M,  is a good question. Xisco has hardly covered himself in glory at St. James’ Park, since we’ve never played the boy, for one reason. Xisco now looks like on of our bad buys in the summer along with loan signing Ignacio Gonzalez, but only because the Uruguayan got injured.

Joe Kinnear told the Sunday Sun today:

“If we can get back somewhere near what we paid for the player we have in mind then I could go and get another player that I want for £5m,”

“One deal will automatically trigger the next one.?”

“So I’m banging on the door hoping that they (the buying club) will make a decision because the player that I want is wanted by other teams too.”

“The last thing I want is to let someone else get in there before we do.”

The Sunday Sun says that Kinnear is also eager to sell Enrique, after we signed the lad from Villarreal for £6.3m in the summer of 2007.

But we would question the validity of that, because Jose is again starting to play well at left-back and it seems he needs a good few games to get his form back, but he’s now playing quite solidly at left back. He’s good moving forward and has great left foot on him, and we like his attitude because he wants to stay and fight for his place at the club, and that can’t be too bad.

That doesn’t say we mustn’t get in another left-back during January, but he would then have to fight it out with Jose for the left back starting berth.  Joe needs to fill out the squad which will add to the competition for places at Newcastle – and that’s what he’s trying to do, but with up front money not available, it will not be easy.

Kinnear continued:

“I just hope it never comes down to Mike suggesting to me that I sell Shay Given in order to free up funds,” “I’d tell Mike that Shay must stay.”

“Shay is an untouchable as far as I’m concerned. Shay and Michael are untouchable in January and there’s no chance I’d sell.”

Kinnear’s bid to keep Given will be sorely tested if we cannot unload the players we want to sell, like Xisco and Geremi.  That’s especially true if Manchester City come in with a huge bid, and then Mike would be challenged with an important decision to make.

It certainly promises to be a very interesting transfer window for Newcastle – watch this space.

Comments welcome.

Taylor won’t be leaving and the frigging last thing we can afford to do is sell!!
We are thread thin now on players and If Kinnear has to sell to raise cash for players then Ashley really has to pack his bags and get of Toon

Anyway, 20mill for 3 players would buy us 10 Bassongs, STOP SHOUTING FOR EXPENSIVE BUYS!

I know that Barcelona is run by its fans as are a few other clubs. Ashley wants a lot of money for NUFC because of his greed. Can the fans raise that amount of cash….i’m not so sure but i’m all for it if we could. I haven’t got two pennies to rub together lol so i wouldn’t be much of a help hehehehe but we need some rich Geordie’s and alot of fans to chip in. Unfortunately its a bit of a pipe dream but if it did happen it would drive the club forward.

Aprt from the last 3 – 4 years, under the last owners, we played entertaining football and wee up the right end of the league and the means more cash generated.

As for Xisco, the coaches dont think he cuts it, they see him more than us. We would be lucky to get £3 million for him now. He was brought in to try and keep the fans happy after the lack of action in the last market. We have somebody in charge of scouting who really doesnt have much of an idea when it comes to the buisness end of football.

We can’t blame any of our players for wanting to leave. This has to be the most unstable football clubs ever right now mike ashley has single handedly f**ked our great football club and if u can’t see that and just keep burying your heads in the sand, looking for all the best of a bad situation then just keep watching as our club falls to bits.

The prospect of Leroy Lita returning to Norfolk seemed further away than ever this morning, as the News of the World linked the Reading hitman with Newcastle and Everton.

Lita – who played the full 90 minutes of the Royals’ FA Cup defeat to Cardiff yesterday – has reportedly attracted the interest of the Premier League duo due to his £350,000 price tag.

The 24-year-old striker scored seven times in sixteen appearances for the Canaries.

3mill for Xisco and 350,000 for Lita is FANTASTIC business, but fans would just see it as Ashley being ‘tight’. Morons, if they were in his shoes they’d see the benefits of it.

Why are we letting players go atall ffs

Facts are once again looking like ASHLEY WILL NOT INVEST IN US.

None of you can possibly support an owner who will not even risk some of his own money in improving the squad. The guys an idiot who thinks its all going to magically happen without any form of investment from him, hes no idea wtf hes doing.

He wants to follow the Arsenal model when we have a manager who doesnt give a chance to the youngsters. When we have a team full of very average players who these youngsters will learn absolutely nothing on bar a few – most of whom are leaving probably.

How in the fck are we ANYTHING like Arsenal. The mans a CLOWN.

This article doesnt actually say the kinnear isnt getting a penny from Ashley. Along with that its in a sunday paper. Can you really take this seriously after some of the things you’ve read about us at breakfast on a sunday mornin.

Trust me, i wouldnt be surprised if big ash wasnt willing to give kinnear a single dime like, but i’d rather be optomistic than jump and beleive what i read on sunday’s back pages, because thats exactly what they want! to make fools out of the north east man!

As far as selling xisco and enrique, should either, or both take place i’ll be pretty disheartened. We’ve seen xisco for about 10 minutes and Enrique is improving.

Alot of people seem to be banging on about “we sell this player that player we get X amount and we can go buy him him and him”. End of the day, deals take time. Maybe not for other clubs, but we dont seem to be one of the quickest. We sell off our better players for decent cash, we then have to go and move quickly, to find adequate replacements, at decent prices. Which to be honest, i cant see us doing. I could see us selling off our canny players (given, owen, enrique, geremi), being left with a decent amount of cash…realising no one actually wants to come to us, being even shorter of numbers, up sh!t creek, and never actually seeing that “transfer” cash again.

Jonny to follow te Arsenal model, first and foremost we need to steady things out for the first team, then invest in the youth team and scouting network.

Selling players for big money then bringing in talent for cheap basically is the Arsenal model, and selling 3 players like Given, Taylor and Zog for 20mill + and bringing in 10 Bassongs is business certainly worth doing.

    ——–

We had 3 good years under Sir Bobby out of 10 more like, ten he was sacked and replaced with Sounes. Hardly good times.

As for Xisco, maybe he is rubbish but do you honestly trust Kinnear to say how good he is or not? I think his treatment has been awful and the fact that Joe won’t even acknowledge him as one of our strikers says it’s than him being a poor player, especially when he didn’t even get a run out yesterday when Carroll was useless.

Unless a player has zero ability then I’m not sure how someone can write him off so quickly, the lads got pedigree yet Kinnear prefers Carroll and Shola?? I’m not buying that.

Mascherano is a prime example of how some foreign players merely need to be shown some faith in their ability by their managers rather than be shown the could shoulder with little explanation for it. Five games or so in 6 months for West Ham under Pardew/Curbishley saw Mascherano labelled as a flop, unable to adjust to Premiership football, too weak/small for it, etc etc – as soon as he moves to Liverpool, it took only one game playing for a high calibre manager for us to suddenly see that Mascherano was in fact a fantastic defensive midfielder and was indeed well suited to Premiership football.

Maybe it’s not always the player who fails to adapt, but the manager who fails to do his job with respect to that player? Then again maybe Xisco is sh*t, but I certainly don’t trust Joe Kinnear when it comes to seeing talent that might not be obvious to him because he has no track record of it.

mike ashley needs a dose of football reality, instead of thinking it is roy of the rovers.

The thing with Arsenal is that they bring players into the first team as well as bringing in for the future. Ashley is not doing that he is only bringing in for the future. But what is his intentions…is he bringing these kids in to try and make them into superstars only to sell them at a massive profit for himself, judging by what we have seen of him so far that may be his intentions.

Here is a post I done on 606 in April 2008

Is Ashley the New Steptoe ?
    Newcastle United
    by sirjasontoon (U9231784) 20 April 2008

I mentioned ages ago that ashley and mort are not the sugar daddy’s that they claimed to be and are very very tight when it comes to investing in serious talent. Look at the last window not one proper senior signing of any merit and too tight to buy Giles Barnes for peanuts from Derby when he was on a plate.

A few weeks ago Keegan was spouting off about Henry and how he wants to break a club signing record etc now he is saying we will attract no big names in the summer and mort saying no big names will arrive…my theory is this is preparing us gently for steptoe style summer..any old iron etc

After what can only be described as a shocking season apart from a couple of wins recently(against poor opposition)the fans deserve to see the hard earned money they pour into the club invested in some big names..otherwise it will be plain to see that Ashley is using the club to just milk the fans..and serve up mid table nonsense for another season.

Exactly. Xisco has already shown enough to suggest he is far superior to Andy Carroll. What does Carroll offer exactly? He is supposed to be our tall, hold up striker, yet he wins absolutely nothing in the air.

The reason for JK’s complete disregard of Xisco is purely financial. He doesn’t want him to play and do well as fans would not then warrant his sale. Also, if he plays he could get injured and jeopordise his January move.

I’m so sick of this! Mike Ashley is a god dam disgrace! If i was a rich geordie i would be looking to get together a consortium of peopl together maybe famous geordies like: Ant & Dec etc together to buy the club back off this Fat Cockney waste of space! Get in a decent manager who has some pull like Sven or Van Haall & give them a pot to rebuild. We dont deserve to be screwed by this Arsehole anymore. I dont give a crap if he paid off any debt! Man U & Chelsea are £500m in debt who would you rather watch? the only way to make money from a football team is to invest the team! shit sales, tv money sponsership deals etc! If Mr Ashley is such a good business man how can he not see that? I hate to say it but if we dont buy in Jan I can see us going down. My only hope is that if we do he sells & leaves then we rebuild form there, i’d rather see us in the prem still obviously but with everyday that passes it seems to get worse & worse. You may disagree but i’d sooner have shepard back than have to put up with this crap anymore. We cannot allow ourselves to be fooled by Ashley anymore! i say if he doesn’t give Joe any cash in Jan we give the Fat Knacka hell on earth! he thinks the KK thing was bad this will be worse, total boycott! nobody go to the games! not until he sells. I know a lot of us paid good money for our season tickets but look at the bigger picture, we need this man gone he is a cancer on our beloved club.

Leroy Lita is a good striker. I think he would thrive at Newcastle.

Reminds me of a young Andy Cole. Why people say he can’t hit a barn door I will never know, also he is only 24 so once he finds the right club and is appreciated he will soon come good and hit form.

I have seen little of Xisco, same as you. However, from what i have seen he has the movement and reactions of a striker, but a bad first touch. A first touch can be improved and i am sure Xisco would have improved with confidence, he is only a youngster remember. Carroll is a youngster as well, but i fail to see what he is actually good at. I don’t know what we plan to build on if we continue with him.
