Portsmouth Fancy Barton But No Way Joey Will Be Leaving

There are reports today that Portsmouth’s Tony Adams wants to rescue Joey Barton from his nightmare at Newcastle United – isn’t that nice of him. 😀

Joey Barton – Toby Adams wants to rescue our player

It seems that Portsmouth boss Adams sees the creative midfield player as a replacement for  Lassana Diarra, who was sold to Real Madrid for an amazing £20M, after Newcastle were after the player 12 months ago from Chelsea, when he was available at £3M.

But we’re pretty sure Joe would sell Barton to Portsmouth for £20M, so if Tony bids that amount, it’s a done deal.

The People claims that Adams has spoken to Barton’s representative and the player is aware of the interest. What they didn’t say is that Barton has no wish to leave the Newcastle club.

The Tyneside club have stood by Joey through his bad and embarrassing ways, but now the club is expecting Joey to repay them – and we think the Liverpool-born player has a good chance to do just that.

Barton last year spent a spell in rehab at the Sporting Chance clinic, which was of course co-founded by Adams after his own successful fight against alcoholism.

Joey Barton, 26, is currently recovering from a medial knee ligament injury but is expected to resume training within a week or two, and certainly when Joey did play this season, he showed more than decent form.

The People says that Joe Kinnear said he is already lining up Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson as a potential replacement.

But that’s not the case because we are trying to get Barry in to strengthen the squad, and increase competition for places, and of course Joe Kinnear has no desire whatsoever to sell Joey.

Another rather daft report from the Sunday papers – who makes this stuff up?

Barton is one of our best players and so important to staying up when he gets fit.

If we sell him I’d be livid.

If Barton is sold then that just shows exactly what Mike Ashley is all about. He is by far our best CM at the minute & if he goes then we’ll be even further backwards then we already are. Some good news ED please like Mike Ashley has got drunk & signed over the club to someone else with Loads of £££££££!!!!!

I’m scared now, hadn’t seen Mark Stimson for years since he was at my cousins wedding, that must be about 13/14 years ago. Gets worse, just seen his son Charlie who now plays for the Gills. He’s 16 now, where has the time gone???

Slate the Zog If you like… But he’s right.

    It’s a fing disaster!
A terrible owner, ripping the heart out of the club.. The poison dwarf and his mates still on the pay roll is scandelous!!!

We have a two bit manager.. looking at two bit players (that he must sell two bit players to buy!)

We face losing our best players this month, and who can blame Owen, Given, Zog, Taylor, Colo, Jonas, Oba & (milner).. If they are being courted by clubs willing to show a little abition and organisation?

Make no mistake..We will lose players,. and we will replace them with second rate championship players..or past their best relegation scrappers… because that is all we can afford, and that is all we can attract.
And Mike Ashley WILL make a personal profit from this transfer window as he did from the last one.

    DISASTEROUS.

KK forever take a bow son! truer words were never spoken. I’ll tell where all this began though, when we sacked the legend that is Sir Bobby Robson & replaced him with… Souness!!! that had to be the worst decision ever! but everything could have been improved by Ashley he just didn’t give a s**t about the club or the Fans! he just wanted to have a lil fun. Well the fun is over Mike now just F**K off!!!! I’m praying for new ownership before it’s too late! even IF we survive this season what next? We need new owners and a new manager. Bruce for me like, Geordie knows what the club & the fans are all about has a good track record with players & getting the best out of his teams. Plus he’s already said how much he regreted not taking the job last time. However there is the small matter of gettin rid of mike ashley first.

  • Bruce has won and will win Zilch.
    He is 1 dimensional.
We need a continental manager that has won things.

    0
  • My gut feeling is we could probably landed a big manager but Mike probs wouldn’t pay the wages that they command anyway.

    sirjasontoonâ„¢ – Let’s Riot

I for a while have said that Fatih Term the Turkey national coach would be a good choice. He is also who Bobby Robson nominated to take over after Allardyce. I think we a stuck with JK for the forseeable future. There will be no change in management until Fat Mike is ousted.

There is so much contradictory information emanating from the club it’s difficult to separate fact from fiction. Of course the tabloids exploit this too the full and the average toon fan is left wondering where our beloved club will end up.

I for one have never been as dissollusioned as I am at present and I fear that we are heading for the championship.

Dan thats how quick things change at our club with that mug running the show. Tell you what was readin rumours about us looking at Kris boyd before. Before anyone starts he’s got 70 goals in 90 games or something. Now tell me that isn’t a good record. He is a gr8 forward & could bring us goals which we are missing. Wouldn’t cost much either.

This is music to the ears of Mr Pound Land!

He wanted to sack him in the summer so if he can get some money for him and get the wage of the club he will snatch their bloody hand off!

It would of course be a disaster for the club to be left with no midfielders who can pass the ball further than 10 yards.

    DEMO’S MUST RE-START!

I would like to see us buy

RB McKaughton Sheff Utd (Very good up and coming young back up to Beye)
LB Taiwo Marseille ( Stong and quick and good competion for Enrique)
CD Campbell Pompey Experience would be vital to our young players including Taylor and Bassong)
AM Dos Santos Spurs (Out of favour and light weight but different to what we already have)
AM Elano Citeh (World class on his day and great set piece taker)
CF Harewood Villa (Holds the ball up and is a good target man)
CF Lita Reading (Plenty of pace which we lack without Martins)

    Out Harper,Cacapa,Xisco,Viduka,Smith,Owen,Ameobi,Carroll

Good cup draw for a change if we can beat Hull!

oh c’mon..we’ve made some good results without joey…so yes..he’s replaceble…if we get a decent cover i wouldn’t mind if he’s sold… he has played about 15 matches in year and a half since sam bought him…so you can’t say he’s a key player…plus his attitude…it’s not like he deserves our full support…i say sell….but get a decent cover!

beyethegreat, The Gremlins and the Bushwackers are Newcastle’s and Millwall’s respective hooligan firms. They were both considered to be very tough, however things aren’t what they used to be with that sort of thing nowadays.
