Interest In Spain For Newcastle’s Enrique And Xisco

Setanta Sports is claiming that Newcastle players, Jose Enrique and Xisco, are attracting interest from their home country, Spain.

Jose Enrique – Spanish clubs will hardly be able to afford him

However, there is now said to be significant interest from Spanish clubs Real Betis, Getafe and Malaga who seem keen to bring the 22-year-old left-back back to the Primera Liga.

We don’t feel these clubs will have the money for Enrique, unless we take a big loss on the player, and we’d rather keep him in that case, since he’s showing more than decent form in the last several games.

The pair cost Newcastle £12M so the club will want to get as much back on them as they can, although we’d be surprised if we really do sell Enrique, since he’s a starter at the club right now.

Xissco, a Spanish Under-21 international who joined from Deportivo in the summer, is also believed to be attracting interest from ambitious Segunda Division side Salamanca.

But since Newcastle paid £5.7M for the youngster only a short 5 months ago, unless we are going to take a bath on him, there’s no way Salamanca will be able to afford the youngster.

Sending the players out on loan to these clubs will also not help Newcastle, who are looking for the cash so they can bring other players into the club.

Since Sam Allardyce signed Jose Enrique last year, we wonder if he’s interested in signing the young Spaniard for Blackburn, since he seems to be available if a good offer cam ein for him.

We’d swap Stephen Warnock for him – in a straight player swap – but we wonder if Sam would.   😀

    Stupid.

To sell either of these players now just doesn’t make any sense. Enrique’s form is improving and Xisco hasn’t even had a chance.

What good would it do sellin JE?

We only have 1 LB at the club and we would still only have 1 if he went and we brought in another.

That’s the problem with having to sell before you buy you don’t add any depth to the squad.

You might get better quality but if they get injured were back to square one!

We are descending into the maelstrom!!! This is stupid. Enrique will improve even more and Xisco was never really tried and tested. This is the lunacy of the worst kind – the fat manhas turned NUFC into a madhouse.

My gut feeling tells me Enrique could be a good servant while Xisco will never make the grade across here. There’s not a chance we’ll get more than £2.5m back off Xisco though given that he’s hardly played and the weakness of the pound. But since when have Spanish acquisitions done well for us financially. Marcelino and Luque anyone?

This is utter Bollox. Why get rid of out only recognised left back who seemingly is imprving and a striker who I dont recall as played 3 times since August.

Build – not get rid off. is the bloody squad not small enough.

Would be typical NUFC if we get ris and cant replace and that leaves us back at square -3.

    Up sH*t creek yet again.

I know its just a report but if we get rid we are leaving ourselves in for trouble.

    Bells and alarms if true!

Someone please back me up on this!!!!

Enrique will become a good player.

It took Evra and Vidic a season to get decent. It’s a different game over here!

Give the lad time, we might have that LB we’ve been looking for!

As long as Kinnear is manager we might as well sell Xisco, as he isnt going to get a game. He should, but he wont.

Enrique…well we need cover for left back and somebody to compete with Enrique, so which really be stupid selling him especially for the 2.8 mill or whatever quoted.

Lack of news about transers coming in, but one thing we all know about the Ashley administration is that whatever they do its hush hush.

Guthrie, Jonas, Bassong, Xisco signings all really popped up from nowhere. Even when we bought Enrique, it was Villareal that announced it.

You’ve got to remember the state of the pound at the moment. If we paid say 6 million pounds for Enrique that would have been close to ten million Euros at the time. So, if Deportivo wanted him back they’d only need to pay 6 million euros when they sold him for roughly ten.

This is Joke Kinnear to a tee. Short sighted and never seeing the bigger picture.

Kinnear’s main failing is that he can’t develop young players, sadly a bit like kk in that regard.
Oh for a Wenger or someone who is tactically aware enough to spot a talent and nurture it, not try and ship it out at the first attempt, especially when you see the limitations of the people he is trying to get in as replacements.

I am desperately clinging to the hope that this state of lmbo can’t last forever and something has to give and we find a good a manager or are taken over asap.

I am delighted to see so many postings supporting Enrique. This lad will get better as we go along and with him and Beye we have two very good full backs.
Xisco was a bad buy at best and if we can get half our money back for him, I think we should take it.
Not wishing to cause controversy, but I would rather sell Taylor and get a couple of back four replacements with the money.

OLEH……..I’ll drive them both personally myself……Complete and utter waste of 12million pounds!!!!

Enrique has done a decent job at best; you have to expect more from a 6 million pound signing!

I believe that wise bought xisco to prove a point to KK….Another great waste of 6 million when we had better players in the reserves/acadamy.

Kevin Nichol….Well, not all of them turn out to be Maicon,Evra etc.

You have to look at the game from every angle and not like a horse….just straight.

The whole team is playing like amateurs, there’s no chemistry no strategy…..they’re playing like they play football for the first time in their life.

Its understandable why Enrique is not playing up to his standards……the whole team simply sucks.

5 goals from Liverpool without Torres,Keane,Alonso,Riera,Aurelio….at SJP is simply embarasing and without excuse.

The bigger picture really worries me. When Ashley announced he was not selling and that he was looking forward to driving NUFC forward in ’09 I didn’t exactly jump up and down with excitement, but I did think he might release a paltry amount such as 5 or 6 mill.

I mean, imagine his losses if we go down. His stance just does not make sense. With a bit of investment we could scrape a European slot. The way he is going we will do well to stay out of the bottom 3.

I just think he is a weirdo.

We have to realise that the manager judges a player on his training performance as much as his matches. We have to assume that Xisco has been utter biscuits in training, which is why he’s not getting a game.

Enrique’s getting there, and I’d far rather see competition for him than a replacement.

I cannot believe we would sell Enrique now that he is improving with every game he plays . All the lad needed was time to adjust and a run of games with the same defensive formation next to him . something he did not have last season . It would be madness to sell him now. Also i would like to see Taylor make RB his position , to me he looks a far better player in that position than Cb and with Beye out for a while he could improve with a long run as Rb .

Well Pandev has the same thing…..he could be bought for 3.5 mill euros this Summer cos his contract runs out in 1,5 year and could well triger the art17.

Whumpie – precisely. My ‘gut feeling’ comes from the fact he’s not being promoted to the first eleven and obviously not for it in the eyes of those in charge, from the little I’ve seen of him and from the fact that I hear his heart just isn’t in it when he’s around the club, which could be the reason for his lack of action or as a result of it.
