Setanta Sports is claiming that Newcastle players, Jose Enrique and Xisco, are attracting interest from their home country, Spain.
Jose Enrique – Spanish clubs will hardly be able to afford him
However, there is now said to be significant interest from Spanish clubs Real Betis, Getafe and Malaga who seem keen to bring the 22-year-old left-back back to the Primera Liga.
We don’t feel these clubs will have the money for Enrique, unless we take a big loss on the player, and we’d rather keep him in that case, since he’s showing more than decent form in the last several games.
The pair cost Newcastle £12M so the club will want to get as much back on them as they can, although we’d be surprised if we really do sell Enrique, since he’s a starter at the club right now.
Xissco, a Spanish Under-21 international who joined from Deportivo in the summer, is also believed to be attracting interest from ambitious Segunda Division side Salamanca.
But since Newcastle paid £5.7M for the youngster only a short 5 months ago, unless we are going to take a bath on him, there’s no way Salamanca will be able to afford the youngster.
Sending the players out on loan to these clubs will also not help Newcastle, who are looking for the cash so they can bring other players into the club.
Since Sam Allardyce signed Jose Enrique last year, we wonder if he’s interested in signing the young Spaniard for Blackburn, since he seems to be available if a good offer cam ein for him.
We’d swap Stephen Warnock for him – in a straight player swap – but we wonder if Sam would. 😀
Comments welcome.

Comment #46Selling Enrique would be really stupid, as for Xisco I really can’t tell since he never get a game – and never will with JK at the helm – so I guess we might as well sell him.
Regarding Given: as much as I don’t won’t him to leave, I do think it’s the only position where we have cover in depth, and hence, if a 10ish mill bid comes in it might be time to cash in and use Harps/Krul.

Comment #48We have one senior left back at the club. Yeh lets sell him why not, we are excellent at replacing players anyway. Actually why don’t we play without a left back, problem solved for Ashley, pretend that football is 10 a side. Would save a few quid.

Comment #57Why when we have a squad that’s thinner than a bullimic’s sandwich are we thinking about selling. So far the list of possible outgoings are:
Given, N’Zogbia, Enrique, Xisco. The Sunday Sun even said we would consider bids for Gutierrez and Coloccini. Anyway let’s hope all this is guff.

Comment #59One more thing about selling “the crappy” (as some ppl say) Enrique, Xisco and also some comments regarding the crappy Boumsong…
Have you fellow bloggers thought it might be NUFC that makes players crap?
Take Boumsong as an example. As most on here I really wanted him sold since he was so bad here and I am amazed Souness paid 8 mill for him (well, guess it was a question of “kick-backs”). Nonetheless, now the guy is playing in Lyon and he’s a regular starter in a regular CL-team that’s far better than NUFC at the moment (and really the last 3-4 years).
So, is everyone at Lyon deluded and we NUFC-fans are correct, i.e. Boumsong is really really a crap player? Or, could it be the sad truth that NUFC as a club can’t develop players?
PS: NUFC have generally been mega affraid to let youngsters play and a lot of us fans say “no he’s to young/inexpirienced/whatnot” (when a player is 18-23 years) whereas other teams can playing kids (sub-20 years) and they do them proud. This is in my opinion a big problem for the club. DS

Comment #62Off topic but – I see Crewe have a version of JK in Thordarson. Clearly tells it how he sees it. “I don’t want to get carried away before we finish Millwall off, but obviously we will beat them up here. Then we can look forward to Newcastle because I think they will beat Hull.” . Obviously eh? What a dangerous word. Take a bit of modesty and humility thrown in together in a sentence with a mix of confidence and arrogance and see what you get…..

Comment #66They’d rather play Reo-Coker out of position at RB and Luke Young out of position at LB than play Shorey, whilst Bouma is injured.
Shorey was getting skinned by Gillingham players yesterday.

Comment #69selling them would be the stuppidest thing… JK should be employed ’till wise asseble a sqad on cheap…and then we need a wold class manager… ffs wnger would turn xisco in ruud by now… but our biggest problem is we dont have that driving force in the midfiled…we need a leder there..period…

Comment #71Partizan .. Pandev for 3.5 .. I didn’t know he could use the article 13 .. very good striker IMO and definately somebody to replace Viduka .. an absolute steal for that price .. not sure they’d let him go for that though, even with article 13..

Comment #72Hope you’re right about Taye Taiwo but I certainly hope Enrique doesn’t leave, he’s improving all the time and has a good future if he keeeps at it, it would be a stupid move to sell him now with us so thin on players.
Waddles Mullet, nice to see you back again, Shorey would be good as would Baines, Baines indeed 😀

Comment #75If we could sell Zog for something like 8 million i would buy a right winger instead and have Gutierrez and Duff as our left wing options and buy a decent right winger. I think Pennant is available for around 2 – 3 million. The rest could go towards Elano in CM and if we could get some money for Xisco then there is money for a left back there.

Comment #80More great news for the Toon.
Appiah is traing at tottenham in a hope to catch arry’s eye. WHY THE HELL CANT JK AND CASHLEY SEE THAT THIS BLOKE WOULD BE AN AWESOME SIGNING.
FOR FREE ASWELL AND PROVEN.
Yes he has been through a bad patch with injuries but then again who cares when he is this good and on a free. We could offer him a pay as your play contract.
Would be a great addition to our Midfield.
