Chris Hughton has been speaking to the press since Saturday’s game with Hull City, and he talked today about how the transfer system will work within the club.
Hughton and Kinnear – working well together for Newcastle
Chris talked this morning about the transfer system at Newcastle:
“Joe Kinnear is working as close as he needs to (with Dennis Wise),” “What happens at the club is there’ll be a process set in place and of course Dennis Wise will be involved in that.”
“But any players coming through will be the players that Joe Kinnear wants to bring to this club and of course the process has already been set in place and we’ll see where it takes us.”
“That central midfield position is where we can least afford to pick up injuries or bans but we just have to get on,”
“There will be inquiries made regarding players but how quickly that will happen or whether they will happen we don’t know at this moment.”
One thing we have said for some time are there are areas where we have to strengthen and we will look to do that as quickly as we can.”
We still think that was the way it was supposed to work in the summer, because that’s what Chris Mort said when he brought in Dennis Wise to the club in late January.
And it was also what Dennis said when he was first interviewed at the club, and we believe he actually said he wouldn’t bring in players behind the manager’s back – those exact words are what Dennis used.
We still don’t know exactly what caused the huge dislocation at the club on September 1st, but we’d certainly like to find out, and we’re not entirely convinced that players were brought in behind Kevin’s back – but we just don’t know for sure at this point.
One player who was said to be bought against Kevin’s wishes is Xisco, and of course he is now up for sale, and it looks like that was a bad deal for the club, and for the 22 year-old too.
We hope that we’ll find out at some point, maybe during Keegan’s action of claiming £8M for false dismissal from Newcastle.
