So Sad That Kinnear Has To Sell Before He Can Buy

The Sun is reporting today that Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear will try to sell a number of Newcastle players so he doesn’t have to sell his number one star goalkeeper Shay Given, in order to fund new players coming into the club.

joe-kinnear-etet

Joe Kinnear – needs to sell before he can buy – why??

The Sun is reporting that Joe Kinnear will try to sell Spanish pair Xisco and Jose Enrique, who cost Newcastle a total of around £12M, and have hardly displayed that kind of class. although Xisco hasn’t even been given the opportunity.

But with owner Mike Ashley unwilling to fund any deals with up-front cash, Joe must sell some of the players he may not want, in order to get the players in he does want.

And in the January transfer window that has to be a very difficult task.

After all the hullabaloo that’s gone on at Newcastle since September, and with Mike Ashley announcing a week ago he will keep the club, we would have thought a good will gesture would have been to give Joe say £10M to £15M to get some new players in, and then he can could wheel and deal selling players after that.

It certainly doesn’t put the owner in a good light with Newcastle fans because Mike owes it to Newcastle and the club, which he almost decimated over the last few months.

£10M would allow Joe to get in 2-3 players quickly and at least we would have some momentum going, but as long as nobody comes in for the Magpie players on sale, presumably there will be no incoming transfers, and that has to be a possibility, unless Mike relents and gives Joe some money, which he may have to.

We would even be willing to give some cash, if that would help, but a quick look in the piggy bank shows we are around £10M short of the £10M required – oh well.

Two of the midfield players Joe is said to be keen on are include Rangers captain Barry Ferguson and Portsmouth’s 6’4″ powerhouse, Papa Diop.

Kinnear said:

“One deal will automatically trigger the next one. So I’m banging on the door hoping that the buying club will make a decision.”

“I just hope it never comes down to Mike suggesting I sell Shay Given.”

Mike – are you listening?

Presumably that means that at least some clubs are interested but if Joe really does sell Enrqiue he will need to bring in two lest backs in January, and we don’t see that happening.

And a couple of players he could try to sell, and this will change as January progresses, are Alan Smith and Charles N’Zogbia.

We getting a little tired of Charles always talking about wanting to leave Newcastle so perhaps that would be a way to get the cash but we shouldn’t let Charles go on the cheap either, and if we have to do that we had better make sure we have another winger coming in, and also that we are secure at left full back.

We’d be OK letting Alan Smith go, but the problem with Alan is that he hasn’t played since August, because of his Achilles injury,  and it may be hard t0 sell him in January, and that may have to wait until the summer.

But one thing is for certain, and that is we’ll be doing quite a number of deals in the summer, and it will be for those players whose clubs wouldn’t release them in January.

As fas as players leaving Newcastle in the summer, they could include Michael Owen, Mark Viduka, Alan Smith, Claudia Cacapa, David Edgar, Steve Harper, Xisco, Jose Enrique, Ameobi and Butt. That’s 10 players right there.

It will depend on who we manage to unload in January, and who signs their new contracts this month, since Ameobi, Harper and Butt still haven’t signed their contracts, and are still mulling over the offers.

Owen, Viduka and Smith leaving in the summer will free up around £230K/week in wages – and the only one we’d miss would be Michael.

Comments welcome.

Why does Kinnear have to sell before he can buy?

1)Because Mike Ashley has spun all the money we got for Milner on the roulette

2)Even if he did have some money to spend, who would come here under these clowns?

    3) MIKE ASHLEY IS AN EXTREEMLY GREEDY, FAT LITTLE MAN INDEED…. 😉

From having Shearer and Keegan parked around the corner, to Shay being happy at SJP, Joe has been taking the piss since day one. Feeding supporters tales of love and happiness when it’s clear the club is tearing itself apart. To survive under Ashley NUFC needs someone to heal the wounds, not rub salt in them. Joe isn’t part of the solution, he’s part of the problem. Half manager, half head of propaganda.

I’m here for eight games. We’ll be sold by November. All will be revealed after the Chelsea game. Oops, I’m here for good. Owen isn’t going to sign. Owen is going to sign. I’m just glad he’s here until June. Butt can’t wait to sign up. Hey Shearer! Why don’t you come up to Newcastle and find out what football is all about. Oi Ref you’re Mickey Mouse. You’re a cunt! Did I say shit?

We’ll know by the end of January if the man who invented the long throw is being taken for a ride or fully paid member of Ashley Enterprises. If it turns out to be the latter those who have trusted JFK are going to be mightily pissed off, and unlike the puppet master Joe has nowhere to hide.

I’d be quite dissapointed if we sell enrique, and even xisco i would like to have seen more of, but its understandable if we can buy in cheaper, better (or even same or slightly less skill level but more experienced therefore, for the immediate better) Financially, is it not true, and also ironic that the 12m from milner, is probably being held incase keegan wins the court case? I do agree however that there should be at least 6m made available, we need to start buying before we sell instead of the other way round, although i suppose we did that with milner/gutierrez and everyone still shouted out for another winger, saying we would have had both.

Money is available and substantial funds at that, Kinnear has identified targets however the recruitment team and Ashley have the final say on who is signed or leaves.

Ashley is 100% committed to club but if the right offer comes in for a player and who can be replaced then the bid will be acccepted.

This is what happened with Milner but unfortunately Bastien Schweinsteiger backed out after a fee and personal terms had been agreed.

We are currently working on a deal for Jermaine Pennant and a left back from abroad.

Players will leave in this window for certain and if someone makes the right offer for Given, Barton, Geremi, Smith and N’Zogbia they will be allowed to leave.

Its a bit confusing to me too. Not only did we get 12mil from Milner, but supposedly, we were prepared to spend 16mil in the summer on Modric – where did all of that go? technically, we should have at least 28million put aside to spend on players!!

I had been a silent reader on this blog for a long time but I can’t help but to voice my opinion now because of the state we are in.

First of all I want to say that i’m not an Ashley supporter nor turning a blind eye on the problems we are facing. I just want to point out that we are destroying ourselves because of the ‘PRESS’. Yes it is sad to say that the press had manage to convince so many of us to believe that our owner is bad, our manager is bad and many of our players leaving. As a result we are now fighting amoung ourselves and causing havoc which is what the ‘Press’ wants; interesting stories.

I can tell you that the one that want us relegated the most is not Ashley but the ‘Press’. It does not make sense financially for Ashley to have the desire to relegate us. But for the ‘Press’ it would make a fantastic story for them.

So I would like to share my view of the current problem we are facing and hopefully will make you all understand the situation better without destroying ourselves.

    1) Transfer problem
    – I believe the club is just being too careful in transfer rather than stingy
    – We had limited funds but not a selling club
    – The club use this approach because of the bad experience with Big Sam, signing crap players and paying them insane wages.
    – If we are being stingy then we won’t had sign colo (most expensive deferder in the club) and Jones is not cheap either.
    – The club is just being to careful and wanting to sign every perfect player
    – So far all our singings had been excellent except Xisco and Gonzales because of the lack of opportunity.
    – Unlike last year, we sign a lot of crap players.
    – Unfortunately being too careful had result in poor activity in the transfer window and the ‘PRESS’ takes advantage of this.

    2) Managers had no control of players coming in
    – Again because of the bad experience of Big Sam, the club strip of the power of the manager
to bring in his own players.
    – It is a good system to prevert crappy manager from bringing in crappy players.
    – But back fine when a good manager like Keagen wants to use his skill on the transfer market.
    – It might be a good system if Joe is poor at scouting players.

    3) Good players with attitude problems.
    – During SBR era we manage to qualify for our 1st champions league is because we sign Robert and Bellamy.
    – Both were great players but with attitude problems.
    – When Souness takes over, the first thing he did was getting rid of both players. After that we never recover.
    – SBR famously said ‘I can manage them for 2 years but Souness can’t even last 2 months with them’
    – Moral of the story, it is the manager ability to handle these players.
    – Hopefully Joe can handle these types of players.

    4) Change of management in club
    – When SBR fail to qualify for champions league and got 5th, there are many supporters that want him to be sack. Giving reason that he is too old and such.
    – As a result, Souness came in and did even worst.
    – So changes is not alawys good and what the club needs right now is stability.
    – Again the ‘Press’ is doing a good job at crushing our stability.

That is all of my opinion and I want to end it with a simple example of how easy the ‘PRESS’ can make us turn agaist our club.

    Example:
Bassong got an interview and ask about his ambition. Typical reply will be “I hope to play for France and higher level of football”. Guess what will the ‘Press’ write, “Bassong is uncertain of his future in Newcastle and wants to find a club that plays champions league”. Guess what will be the reply of most fans:
    – He is unfaithful
    – We are a selling club
    – Dressing room problem
    – Ashley out, Joe out

    The outcome would be:
    – Bassong suddenly feels hated by so many people
    – everyone hates the club management

So please people, think rationally and don’t give in to the ‘PRESS’.

    given
    beye colo bass -new signing-
    jonas barton -new signing- zog
    smith martins

get rid of most of the players mentioned i.e xisco and ameobi and duke, free up some cash for a quality lb and a quality cm, and thats a top 6 side right there.

The Fat Ash is milking us dry, trying to press every little penny out of our veins untill we have bled dry… Over the last 2 seasons, we have actually gained a net PROFIT from the transfer windows, yet Joe has to sell before he can buy!!!!!??? what the ****

If Mike had pay of our loans as the pro MA supporters will have us beleive, then why is our finances so bad that we cant buy players?… Where is the 30 million+ that all clubs get in TV money?, where are the 10 or so million we got from our final league placing?, Where are all the gate money?, where are all the Merchandise money?… Well Mike?.

Sure, we will have yearly wages of around 40 million or so, but that should leave at least 25 million per season. And thats a low number… Im actually at the point, where i would rather have fat fred, my opinon of the Fat Ash is THAT low.

Yeah he might need to sell before he can buy but the paper has quoted names of players he is going to sell and that hasnt come from JK. Personally i think its going to be fringe players going to be leaving as the first team is needed. But the headline for this thread asks the good question. Why do we need to sell before we can buy> as JK was promised funds

What I love about Mike Ashley (Being ironic there!!) is that when he bought the club he done little/no due dilligence which a good businessman simply wouldn’t do. He then doesn’t see any catch with “picking up” a reletively large premier league club for £130 million – Surely even the stupidest person in the world would look at the figures and think, “Hmmm there must be a catch here somewhere when a large club can be bought for such a little amount of money in today’s market”. I have no sympathy for MA regarding paying debts etc as he’s seemingly bled the club dry since taking over.
