Newcastle Medical Staff Are Woeful

We thought this yesterday – that if Oba Martins needs a hernia operation how come we only know that over 3 weeks after Oba sustained the injury?

oba-martins-2312

Oba Martins – out for 3.5 weeks and only now needs operation?

And Martins’ agent, Dapo Kujore, today has criticized the Newcastle medical staff as being woeful.

Dapo Kujore has claimed his client would be fit already if Newcastle’s medical staff had identified his hernia injury earlier:

“The Newcastle medical staff are woeful,” “Oba has been having this problem on and off and they failed to spot it.”

“It was only when he went to Italy that the correct diagnosis was made, and he will have the operation this week.”

“Look at the entire team.”  (Mark) Viduka is injured, Alan Smith is injured, Nicky Butt is injured, and so many players.”

” Even when (Alan) Shearer was playing, how many times did he end up on the treatment table?”

There is something wrong somewhere, with the fact Newcastle are nearly always worse off with injuries than other Premier League teams.

It was a huge problem when both Graeme Souness and Glenn Roeder were managing the club and now Joe Kinnear has had similar problems in his short time managing the club.

And it doesn’t help either that our squad is so small. Aston Villa have a small squad, but have had few injuries this season and are now 4th top of the league.

It’s something the club should look into – and we’ve been saying this for years – but nothing seems to be done, although Souness made an attempt to get to the bottom of the problem back in 2005.

There’s got to be some reason somewhere why we continue to have more injuries than any other club – and that’s the case almost every season.

Comments welcome.

It really makes you think the investment should be there to get a top notch medical team as well as better training facilities, which would save us loads in the future. If we had everyone fully fit, it would be quite hard to suggest our squad was all that short, the problem is we get too many injuries.

This is something we have all known for years and just quietly accepted it……..we shouldnt have and well done Oba’s agent for standing his ground and speaking out about his.

Add it to your very long list Ashley of little jobs that NEED SORTING OUT.

  • Ed in the Ameobi article he says

“Getting fit and playing games is all I wanted to do,” “It had been a while since I was able to do that.” “I had to prove what I could do.”

“But it’s testament to the physios and medical staff for the work they’ve done for me.”

He has been set up to say that as the club knew Martins agent was going to hit the roof.

Should have kept some of big sam’s medical staff. A years wages for the whole team probably cost less than a combined weeks wage for Owen, duff, viduka and smith.
I can barely even look at SSN anymore its just too depressing. Why doesn’t Ashley release some funds FFS. We are becoming an even bigger joke!

Alchemist…. our medical record wasn’t much better under Allardyce and his team of witch doctors and astrologists I seem to recall..

Since Dalgliesh we have had unbelievable luck with injuries… maybe there is something behind it all… Souness thought it was the training facilities eh, Allardyce thought it was rushing players back.

Wasn’t the old training ground at fault? I remember the players complaining that the pitch was too hard and that was why they were picking up so many injuries in training? It’s also been reported that the boots that players wear these days contribute a lot to their injuries. The leather is thinner and softer to make the boots lighter and a lot of players wear blades instead of studs which aren’t as grippy.
Another report where quotes are used to suit the agenda. This time we are asked to believe what a players agent says and is reported in the media, next time there will be people saying that agents talk is all bollox and we shouldn’t believe what is in the press!

Alchemist – spot on. Boater – actually BSA (and I’m no fan of the bloke) got us from 1st on the Physioroom league (as now) to 2nd-bottom in 3 months.

Injuries are NOT luck. BSA had personal physios, strict nutrition programmes, calesthenists, compulsory yoga and all manner of complimentary stuff going on. And it worked just as well as it had at Bolton. That was a major factor in how he got to 6th in the premiership with a field-full of antiques.

We should pretty much copy exactly what he did, because Alchemist is right – it costs less to support that whole staff than to have one crocked player not playing.

No, I think the real question is: Why are all the bad players never injured, and the good ones are permanently crocked?!

Bramble and Boumsong almost never managed to miss a single game, alas.
