Newcastle To Launch Investigation Into N’Zogbia Quotes

January 9th, 2009 by Ed Harrison · 231 Comments

There seems to be lots of news each day about Newcastle in the transfer market, but the problem is we don’t know what’s true and what’s made up, and it’s really hard to decipher which reports are true.

Charles N’Zogbia – Newcastle to launch investigation

We are very pleased today that Joe Kinnear has come out and slammed talk that Charles N’Zogbia being on the brink of leaving Newcastle United.

Apparently Joe Kinnear contacted one of his best friends in football, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, last night to see if there was any interest in the talented winger from Arsenal, and Joe was told by Wenger that he wasn’t interested in N’Zogbia.

Ans Newcastle United, quite rightly, are to start a full investigation surrounding the unsettling situation regarding the 22 year old former Le Havre youngster, who has been on Tyneside since the late summer of 2004.

With Spurs and Aston Villa also linked with N’Zogbia, Kinnear told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“I’ve spoken to Arsene Wenger and he said he’s not interested in any of my players, so I don’t know where the agent’s coming from.

“We’re looking into it. If it is true, then the agent’s being disrespectful.”

“He’s never had the decency to explain anything to any member of this football club. It’s laughable, to be honest.”

“It’s absolute nonsense. Charles is under contract until 2012, and I told him on day one that he was a very important player.”

“He’s been in the team, and has done very well.” “He’s 60-40 to play tomorrow, and I hope he does.”

It’s interesting that Joe is blaming N’Zogbia’s representative, but we assume Joe has already talked to Charles himself about the comments he has made to the French magazine, L’Equipe.

We’re pleased Joe is moving to clean this thing up, because it’s hardly what should be seen in the newspapers – and Charles needs to abide by his contract.

As we said we just don’t know what’s true and what’s not, in the transfer market, and it seem the best thing to do is listen closely to what Joe tells us.

We’ll assume Joe knows what’s going on this transfer season – just kidding.     :D

Comments welcome.

    , you’ve gotta laugh !

but saying that I’d not loose any sleep if he left and also believe he (Zog) thinks he’s better than he actually is.

    Why wont ashley release money!?

I just hate all this not noing whats going on.

    Waitin does my head in…

  • 3 Elliott // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:50 PM

Had enough of his disruptiveness. Sell him for what we can and get someone like Kightly or Bastos in for less money.

  • 4 Ericles // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:52 PM

It is obvious that the press and possible some other dubious characters are out to unsettle Zog and NUFC once again. Who do these arseholes think they are? Investigate by all means and, whoever is at fault, ban them from NUFC. We cannot stand idly by and witness our club destabilised by these disruptive individuals. We cannot tolerate any longer the gutter activities of these enemies of our club and city!

  • 5 sweendog // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:53 PM

ObaFan2 .. agreed.. if theres no substance then Zogbia should come out and say something .. but theres no smoke without fire..

  • 6 Ericles // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:53 PM

By the way – if it is Zog at fault on this news item, then it is bog off and zog off!!!

  • 7 RyanToon // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:54 PM

    sell him

  • 8 safferusa // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:54 PM

Confusion and false reports during the transfer window, NO WAYS!!

  • 9 Dan157 // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:54 PM

Jean Arne Riise coming. From nufc.com

    Transfer window
    swings a JAR?

Friday brought renewed speculation that United had made progress in signing one of their transfer window targets – former Liverpool full back John Arne Riise.

Details are still sketchy as to whether the club are looking to complete a permanent deal with AS Roma or take the 28 year-old Norwegian international on loan.

Bringing in a left back would allow the club to try and move on Jose Enrique, who isn’t rated by Kinnear.

    More as we get it….

  • 10 Dan157 // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:57 PM

It is Zog and not his agent who has been making these quotes.

  • 11 ObaFan2 // Jan 9, 2009 at 1:58 PM

Don’t know why we don’t do it ourselves like “interest in West Ham’s super dooper Fred Blogs” before our game with them but suppose City are maybe helping with their interest in one or two of their players.

  • 12 Whumpie // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:00 PM

Agents: Dodgy, amoral arses who enjoy causing and then observing the suffering of others.

    The French: See under ‘Agents’.

French Agents: Ideally, see under a large concrete slab.

  • 13 scottishmag // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:01 PM

probably the most worrying thing is that he is 60-40 to play tomorrow, and he hopes he does?

I cant seem him dropping duff and he has already said carrol will start.

Jonas has got to play for me!

  • 14 tino97 // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:02 PM

Its always N’Zogbia who comes out with these quotes. He is a pain. Not sure if Joe can hyandle these situations. He contradicts himself all the time.

  • 15 RyanToon // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:02 PM

riise would be a quality signing IMO

sell zogs, i used to really like him but i am so sick of the whinging french twat these day – piss off zogs. get risse in though – top draw player with a winning mentality. we need winners, not loser moaners. i will be at the game tmrw and i am sure zogs will not be popular. tosser.

  • 22 waddle's mullet // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:15 PM

he said we were working very hard to bring in a left back from abroad.

  • 23 Joe // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:15 PM

just get rid of him i’m sick of this s**t every bloody transfer window

  • 24 Dan157 // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:17 PM

Not long ago i would have said no to Riise but the state we are in now i would take anyone at left back. However what is the point if it means we end up selling Enrique. Just leaves us with the same problem we had before with no cover in that position. The people at our club need to realise that 1+1-1 is still equal to one.

  • 25 Jay K // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:17 PM

    waddle u nt heard out

  • 26 chuck // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:18 PM

Look it`s obvious he wants out, though a decent player no one is above being sold, especially when he repeats then denies the same old mantra.
F**k it sell him if he does`nt want to be here , I am sick of his s**t and he is not that great that he could`nt be replaced.
If we get a decent price for him spend it on McGeady who I think is a better player.

  • 27 Sav // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:19 PM

It suits a desperate JFK to ignore the source of these comments, just as he blamed Given’s lawyer for Shay’s ‘come and get me’. (Note, there’s been no denial from Given yet.) It lets Kinnear get on on a day to day basis with players who want out. Joe turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the realities at SJP as it suits him. fair enough.
If the quotes were not at the behest of players, the club could sue or demand retractions. Its a game everybody plays and the loser is chiefly fans. Of course the transfer windows are the 2 opportunities for agents to make serious money. But even crooks like Willie McKay would not risk upsetting a valuable client by causing a rift unless it was in the player’s interest. If a player is unhappy with his agent, I’m certain there are plenty others he could change to.

One major exception is Oba Martin’s agent who has recently libelled the med staff at the club. They should sue him if they had respect for their own staff.

  • 28 waddle's mullet // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:22 PM

Not much just the club doctor has been away all dayfrom training groud.

    so something is going on!

  • 29 Dan157 // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:23 PM

Agreed Sav though on the agent thing i think upsetting them through taking legal action would put us at risk of them touting our players more to other clubs.

Cant believe zog would want to talk to little ol spurs. Not when he is living the dream at newcastle. So far that is given and zog who have stated they want to talk to spurs. Why do all these players want to play for such a small , badly supported , insignificant club?

Anyway, have newcastle signed anyone yet?

    AO

N’Zogbia clearly wants to live in London where i believe his family are as well. And by the way he sais he would prefer Arsenal. To be honest though i hope he joins you lot as i have been looking at your fixture list recently and there is no way you will be getting more than 40 points this season and that is with putting quite a few wins to your side in games that you could easily lose. Wigan will beat you this weekend as well in front of the nation on SKY.

  • 36 AO // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:33 PM

  • 37 ObaFan2 // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:34 PM

Alot of clubs like the transfer window as there are mug clubs around to pay silly money for players who aren’t that good or even sell players back to clubs for vast profits after a matter of months lmao.

  • 38 Ericles // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:35 PM

Riise would be a good addition with Enrique as back-up. As for Zog. Come clean sonny jim! What is the truth? What would be Zog’s first question in London (if that is where he really wants) – it is “Ou est la banque…”.

  • 39 tino97 // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:35 PM

What has Andy done to his hair? Bloody hell! That style looks crap on a tall, thin, white bloke.

  • 40 AO // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:35 PM

dan157- Out of interest how many points do you think newcastle will get. I am confident we will finish well above you so do you think you will only achieve around 32-35. Looking at the depth of your squad and the players available i think this would be an achievement, all things considered.

  • 41 Flan // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:36 PM

    AO

No we would not. Michael Owen was the one exception where people did that. We played Portsmouth not long ago and Defoe was absolute gash. Look over that game and see the chances he missed. Average premiership player who not long ago couldn’t even get in your side and now you treat him like a god. The reaction of those Spurs supporters at his unveiling when you played Burnley was pathetic. It’s like us rejoicing at the return of Kieron Dyer.

  • 54 HeronMag // Jan 9, 2009 at 2:50 PM

There are a few people I’ve chatted to about Zog and some are blaming the agents.

At the end of the day the agents are employed by the player. As an employer, the player is responsible for the conduct of his agent.

If I was a player intent on staying at a club, but my agent kept on stirring up rumours so he could make some money I’d sack him, no question.

Obviously Zog wants to leave, or he hasn’t got his priorities right.

Your lack of understanding of most things is so amusing yet repetitve to most here however as a fan you only go to highlight how ignorant some can be.

We have enjoyed some CL campaigns with some of the most delightful football and most will agree I’m sure that we are a long way from achieving that again…… Atleast we achieved it in the first place.

“So far that is given and zog who have stated they want to talk to spurs. ”

So your referring to themselves stating they want to talk to spurs.

Or you could just take it back now and stop wasting our time.

    Cheers :)

I still hope Zog stays. There aren’t many better left backs around at his age.. he’s got a good injury record and he knows where the goal is. I know some of you harp on about him failing to live up to potential… but even if this now is all he will ever be I’d take it in the first 11… and he still could improve. I know we are all narked about his supposed disloyalty and self-aggrandizing but that’s modern footballers. We are so short of numbers and we could well do without looking for a left winger on top of everything else.

Let’s face it lads, can we honestly blame any player for wanting to leave here with the present state of our club? Not to mention Zogs has been talking about leaving for years now. Get a fair price for him and ship him out.

As things stand now, if we believe all the rumors these are the players on their way out:

    Barton
    Smith
    Given
    Zogs
    Owen

while we have these coming in:

    Ferguson
    Riise
    Mendes

I am 100% positive that by the end of the window the picture will look much different. It is quite obvious though that we are in a sell before we buy position. But since we are a squad that is only 2 points form the drop zone, how can we argue that our current players are getting the job done?

My final comment is I feel the club would be daft not to sell Owen for any reasonable offer. He will walk away and we will get nothing. When he decided to turn down the new contract he was basically putting in his transfer request. Ship him!

  • 102 Boater // Jan 9, 2009 at 3:59 PM

Ryantoon… I agree with craig chisholm – why would they want jonas? he’s hardworking but his overall game is no where near deadly enough for the top sides.. also you can’t play for 3 sides in 1 season I thought… divvent loose any sleep either way. Martins out injured is more of a blessing – strange how that always seems to happen.

Boater – in fairness, Given has put up with a lot more sh*te than Zogs. He’s put a good shift in and is in the twighlight of his career. He also doesn’t text during team-talks (if rumours are to be believed). It’s the impression you get, Zogs comes across as less professional and has less affinity to the club, so much more likely to twist about getting away, as he has done on several occasions. Given has had his faults but he’s paid for them ten-fold. Charlieboy hasn’t, yet.

  • 113 Whatwentwrong // Jan 9, 2009 at 4:10 PM

This Slovenian we are interested in seems good

  • 115 Boater // Jan 9, 2009 at 4:11 PM

ryantoon – Jonas would get the odd game for liverpool – he’s a tryer and he works the flanks all day long but he doesn’t get into the danger areas enough or create things for people. He’s a team player but not a tactical player and that’s why he suits our daft football. That’s why players like Geremi and Parker can’t cut it for us – they are both players that plug holes and bring team-mates into play… but we like our racing stripes up here more than is good for us perhaps.

bowburnmag – you make the point well – although I never bought into the Given loyalty thing… I think he knows he’s on to a good thing here and he’s been disinclined to give up the cushy number – that and a lack of real interest from better clubs. I don’t begrudge a youngster the ambition to play in the CL – and the press love to wind up us geordies with the bling-bling card – going back to JJ and dyer.

  • 140 bowburnmag // Jan 9, 2009 at 4:29 PM

Boater – I agree, that’s what I was getting at. But Shay’s performances perhaps gave him a pardon for it. A lack of consistency leaves Charlieboy wide open. Don’t necessarily agree with it but it is what it is. Although put on the spot, my gut feeling tells me get rid of Zogs, provided we replace with better.

nufc.com get some criticism on here but only put rumours that they are unsure about with a less than subtle caveat underneath. The riise thing will thus probably happen or at least be in progress to happen.

    Re. Buying Werder Bremen Striker

If we’re going to invest in anyone at Bremen we should look at Claudio Pizarro:

Stats from Wiki: Deportivo Pesquero 44 apps 11 goals, Alianza Lima 44 (22), Werder Bremen 56 (29) Bayern Munich 174 (71) Chelsea 21 (2) Werder Bremen (Loan from Chelsea) 13 (10)

I know he’s 30, but he’s still scoring goals in the Bundesliga. He’s guaranteed quality and we could probably get him on the cheap from Chelsea…

    AO

You actually got a good deal with Defoe. Portsmouth already owed you money for Kabul and Defoe had a sell on clause which bizarrely goes straight back to spurs. It actually works out that you payed around £ 7 million for him. I have to say though that although that may be a good deal he is not worth the reception he got the other night, it was almost like the one we gave Shearer in his testimonial.

Walter Tull. Played for Tottenham 1909-1911
Walter Tull. Played for Tottenham 1909-1911. He became the first black outfield player to play in the First Division of the Football League when he signed for us and should have had a long and prosperouscareer at White Hart Lane had it not been for 2 things: racism and war. He was efeectively forced out of Spurs by rival fans who mocked our club to such an extent that it was decided to let him go. A sad day in North London because he was an extremely talented player whose only fault was that he was black. He fought in WW1 and became the first ever black officer in the British Army. He fought throughout the war, surviving virtually every big battle (Somme, Ypres, Passendale) and led his men at Piave with distinction that should have earned him the Military Cross. He lost his life in the last big battle of the war, the Second Battle of the Somme, and his body was never found. He never got his medal for which he was recommended because he was black and therefore could not qualify as an officer, despite actually holding such a rank.

I have started an online petition for Walter Tull to support his claim for a Military Cross. I heard that there was a growing campaign for him to receive the honour that he was denied in his day simply because of the colour of his skin and I wanted to add my name to the list of support. However, despite the fact he started out at Tottenham and played with us for over 2 years of his short career, there was nowhere I could find for Tottenham fans to show our appreciation for this man’s sacrifice. Northampton Town have created a petition as have the Northamptonshire Black History Association but not Tottenham. I really feel that is a shame as Spurs, being a much bigger club, could really add weight to the campaign and as such I have created my own petition for us all to sign.

Please add your name to it as this is something that needs addressing. Tull was a remarkable man and we should be hugely proud of his achievements. He was a proper yid and showed the sort of character indicative of Spurs. He thoroughly deserved the Military Cross that he was recommended for and it was denied to him simply because he was black. At the time, Military Crosses were only given to officers in the British Army and, although he had become the first ever black officer when he was awarded the rank of Second Lieutenant, the powers that be rescinded the claim for his medal on the grounds that the Army rulebook clearly states that a man not of pure European descent cannot be eligible as an officer.

Although times have changed we should not forget what Walter Tull did for this country. Forever Spurs!

I don’t mind if Spurs finish above us. Most of us were hopeful of a mid table finish this season. Spurs fans were once again talking about breaking into the top four – something they have rarely done in their entire history. Both clubs are shit. The difference is Spurs fans blight every football forum with their poor attitudes.

I honestly can not believe that AO is waxing about those transfer deals. And waxing about them on a Newcastle Fan blog. Really embarrassing.

We need Wigan to beat Tottenham for 2 reasons. One they are below us and need to keep them there and secondly to shut their fans up, well at least for a few days, until they spunk £18 million on Downing and become title contenders.
Wigan will have Heskey and Zaki back as well. We get a win tomorrow and those teams below us lose we can go 5 pts clear of the relegation zone.

This is our squad for Saturday?

Given, Harper, Enrique, Bassong, Coloccini, Taylor, Edgar, Kadar, Guthrie, N’Zogbia, Duff, Gutierrez, Geremi, Donaldson, Owen, Carroll, Xisco, LuaLua, Ranger.

In a perfect world the game would be over after 70 mins then bring on the youngsters for some minutes. But can’t see this happening! But I can wish.

  • 194 Spyro // Jan 9, 2009 at 5:32 PM

This blog has well and truly gone to the pits and has been doing so for the last 8 or 10 months.

By the way, this is the real Spyro a.k.a Dragoner. Proof: I have had many heated debates with Craigg and Davey G since first joining this blog around 2 years ago.

80% of the regulars who used to visit this site have now abandoned it completely and it is filled with either young, attention seeking teens, or the same bloggers under 4, 5 or even 6+ different names who engage in lengthy discussions with themselves.

Believe it or not, i have blogged very little over the last few months. Instead, i have played spectator to my alias being used by someone else/others and i must say, whoever it is has performed admirably to say the least. Everything from my style of writing, to my commonly known views has been mimmicked to the point where i sometimes have to read the comment twice just to make sure i was not the one who wrote it. Whilst that may amuse some the fact that someone has put so much time, effort and research into imitating a fellow blogger is evidence that there are some people on here with real issues and problems that need to be addressed, and i mean that with the utmost sincerity.

There have been times when i have sat in front of the Laptop thinking, “What kind of people are these? surely they’re not normal”.

This is the last message i will ever post on this site.

i wonder what jfk will do once he finds out that ashley and wise have been trying to flogg on smith and barton without even telling him?? for sure this is what has been going on – same as with kk – nothing has changed and they have not learned. it will all come out in the open soon i expect. i am sure though that wise is as usual, up to his old tricks – the slimey little turd.

I think it’s now time Ed seriously started thinking of using an account system. I’m not sure how often he reads over these pages but if he dis he would find there is a big problem with people imitating one another which for a while might cause a few giggles but ultimately makes people stop visiting / posting on the site i.e Spyro being the latest example. The same thing was happening to me and Tom_Toon last night and if people fall for the fake one it can make you look like at tit sometimes. Unfortunately with it being an open comments page with no authorisation it’s so easy for a joker to pretent to be you and start insulting someone else. If i hadn’t of come online last night i would never of known that there was soneone on here using my name. Please get it sorted Ed.

love that, soooo funny. since when have this latest club set up had the decency to explain anything to any member of this football clubs fans?. It’s laughable, to be honest.”

“It’s absolute nonsense. jfk is a puppet under complete control of the cockney crew who take it in turns to make him talk.

are they not getting it… a players career can be cut short at any time. why would you want to stay? ok you love the club but this current set up is clueless. i’d be off and come back when they’re gone.

There are those people who have nothing much to say and who spam that nothingness like people are interested. This is an issue with most forums and boards. I always hoped that Ed would have some sort of registration process on here so that the losers could be identified and ignored. Or in worst cases removed.

  • 227 Sydney_Toon // Jan 10, 2009 at 5:28 AM

nzogbia at it again? oh dear thats a surprise isnt it…….sell him in winter (UK summer) for about 8mill and buy a decent midfielder… Thank God Arsenal dont want him that boi needs to understand that his not as good as he thnks and his 22 already lookin to make the french team….good luck mate startin infront of ribery and malouda

  • 228 AO // Jan 10, 2009 at 8:14 AM

comment168- so some idiot uses my namne then forgets to change there username back to reply to a response they made as me.(if that makes sense) What a complete tool.

  • 229 Ian // Jan 10, 2009 at 11:21 AM

Some of these players are just weak kids with a talent, remember Bellamy and Dyer in their early days really annoying youngsters.

Nzogbia just speaks before he thinks and gets carried along on any tide in the club, ‘I love the place’ then ‘I want out’ .

Everyone should just forget about what he says as long as he does what he is employed to, then he is signed till 2012 and tough luck, if anyone wants to pay £14m in the first two weeks of any transfer window and he wants to go then fair enough, otherwise that is the value he is worth to us.

The board have allowed a team to get unsettled with Owen going, if they can do the Mido and Smith deal things will settle as we would have two good long contracted strikers who fit with Zog and Jonas’s style of play and he will shut up for a week or two.

Not even worth us concerning ourselves for a minute.

  • 230 craig chisholm // Jan 10, 2009 at 11:27 AM

i agree Ian, owen is key to many things in the dressing room. he is a name puller at the end of the day, so it goes to reason that with him leaving he is also a catalyst for others getting unsettled. he is after all, our only true world class name at the club.
i think that if ashley offers a better deal he would sign, it would be a masssive thing for our team knowing owen is committed.
the thing about man city having a verbal agreement is funny isnt it? he says that as long as they stay in the prem then he will sign. this therefore means that Owen has no ambition for getting cups at all as his only requirement from city is they stay in the prem. this would therefore mena that he is after one last big pay off job. this is how it comes across to me. its a shame though, iwould have hoped that as captain and having the chance to build on this last good year he might have felt a twinge of loyalty, not to ashley (cnut), but to the city and fans.

  • 231 Ian // Jan 10, 2009 at 4:56 PM

Craig, I dont think Owen wants to stay, money money money!!

I am praying that Mido Smith swap happens.

I agree with the other stuff you say about Owen, if he had ambition and showed the tiniest bit of loyalty then it would help him with his future management career. Why would anyone at all employ Owen as a manager based on anything in his past career to date??

Left his beloved Liverpool for money, injured at our club, paid fortunes, given the captain band and doesnt even think he owes one season, hasnt shown any team building skills at all, hasnt handled the fans or press well, just been fairly silent.

All he has ever done is been a decent scorer per appearance, that just says decent striker nothing else.

To make the transition from player to manager now is the time to show something extra while still taking a decent wage. He will not be captain somewhere like Man City, he will be sat on the bench for half the season unless they have injuries.

Surely he has sense to make the jump from player to captain to coach at a club like ours and gain the experience, then he could earn money like Harry Rednap and keep his horses and lifestyle going all his life.
