Newcastle United as a club will always be linked with many footballers when it comes to the transfer windows, and January has been no exception.
Joe Kinnear – praying for new signings in January
Newcastle were yesterday linked with a new bunch of new players, and of course some of these will have just been made up by the popular press, as they are every Sunday.
Joe Kinnear says he is still working very hard to bring in some decent new players before the window closes on February 2nd – which is a short 3 weeks today.
Joe talked about the transfer market today:
“There are an awful lot of names out there.” “But we have a full scout force out there and they are on red alert.”
“They are going to various parts of the world and we are just seeing how we go along.”
“Finances are tight and we have to make the correct decisions with people.”
“Therefore we won’t be rushed into anything.”
We have been impressed with the scouting system that has been set up since Mike Ashley took over the club, and it certainly paid dividends for us last summer, and we seem to have been first in for free agent Peter Lovenkrands too.
A scouting system, and good player development are two things that iof Newcastle can xcel in -0 will be the way forward for the club in the future.
We’re already seeing some success in that area with new stars Danny Guthrie, Sebastien Bassong, Jonas Gutierrez and young Andy Carroll.
We hope the club keeps it up – we need something good to start happening – soon.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Let’s hope that the scouts identify quickly and more to the point, the club acts quickly to sign – with Joe’s blessing of course.
No repeat of the Xisco situation please!!

Comment #3I think 2 or 3 shrewd signings to get us through the season and then we need to take a good hard look in the summer. This has been long overdue, but for now premiership survival is paramount.

Just been looking at some older articles.
Does anyone know who was pretending to be others? My money’s on 51times. He was a bit miffed that he was banned and knew all about how easy it was to impersonate someone else on here.
He claimed he was a world class wind up merchant when all he did was slag people off.
Well done to ed for implementing a registration system to stop impersonators
51 times is banned?why?

Out:
N’Zogbia 6m
Geremi 1m
Cacapa Free
Smith 3m
Enrique 2.5m
Owen Free
= 12.5m
In:
Lovenkrands Free
Andrew Driver 1.5m
Chris Eagles 4m
Kevin Doyle 7m
A decent left back 6m
a good, creative centre mid (michael johnson/ jimmy bullard?) 6m
= 24.5m
= Net – £10m (money left over from Milner sale? or some of the £20m a year Ashley promised? or the sale of Given?)
p.s Notice the change in targets that we have in 6 months. From Arshavin, deco and Arda Turan, to Driver, Lovenkrands and Ferguson. Depressing…

Comment #10Or we could go for Minnie Driver – for her skills in diplomacy and articulation for head of our PR team. The Eagles for our new pre-match anthem and Roddy Doyle to write the next chapter in our illustrious history…..

Comment #13we dont have 30 mill and i dont think we need them.
I would traid Given for onouha and johnson, then buy Lita and Baines.
Sell N´zogbia and buy Kightly or Eagles or some up and coming right winger. Then the squad would be:
……………………Harper……………………………
Beye…….Colo………….Bassong……..Baines
Kightly…..Johnson……Barton……..Guiterez
………………Smith………..Martins……………..
Subs: Krul, Taylor, Enrique, Guthrie, Duff, Carroll, Lita.
and take this danish aswell as cover. oh get rid of Owen, trade him for another cb maybe

Comment #15“scouts”? Who exactly? And why are they only out now, looking for players. Everyone knows when the window opens…we should have been preparing bids way before now.
I’m sure Joe is trying to bring players in, but is the club really behind him? So far its one player on a free trial…a good one but that is it.

Comment #17The Scouts are on RED ALERT? Hope Kinnear doesn’t mean that the scouts have gone out to look for players recently cuz we need players NOW!
I mean look at Man utd’s two new signings, they were scouted for more than a year before they were signed. Dennis can’t hop across countries looking for players.

Comment #18Toony – Please not Leroy Lita. He had a couple of good games last season, but he’s not good enough or consistent enough for me.
I’ve noticed you have Smith in your line up. Obviously this is someone you haven’t mentioned as the Smith we currently have in the team should never get a game up front with martins ever again, in my opinion.
Knightly is a brilliant player, but won’t leave Wolves unless the don’t get promotion.

Comment #19Why do some of us keep on banging in these fantasy line-ups? It really is schoolboyish. I am beginning to wonder how far back some can remember about NUFC. All Kinnear will be allowed to do is bring in a few players to keep the team afloat providing, and that is the crux of the matter, he sells quality players first or soon after. Wise and co will wreck NUFC from the training ground upwards. We are back to the George Eastham type of fiasco where the club is held to ransom with the full interference of the media.

Comment #22do people forget the 6mil we paid fat sam off with, the potential 8mil compensation to keegan and the potential 12 mil euro (1 to 1 exchange so 12mil pounds) we mite have to pay for spiderman, all of which has to be budgeted for, so if we win the legal cases we mite have more to spend, and as for people complaining about the standard of player we are linked with – if the press are saying we have to sell be4 we buy then does it not defy sence that they are linking us with players to buy, even tho we havnt sold anyone????? ALL SPECULATION WHICH IS NO ONE AT NUFC’S FAULT
kinear has said we have bid for players but other clubs have come in and bid for them
the players cant be that bad as other clubs want to buy them, e.g if man city want the same player. we need man city to do all their business so prices can go back down as if a player has been linked to them you can be sure to add a 0 to the price

Comment #27we should buy michael phelps i heard he did really well in the olympics, also i heard that paul mckenna is an upcoming talent in the guatamala league 2, if we could sign him for 4 million that would be a bargain, to raise the necessary funds we could do a bake sale.
