The Newcastle United club will have to take a strong hold of some of our players’ agents and just throttle them.
Oba Martins – would leave for right offer
Now we are being told that Obafemi Martins would consider leaving Newcastle if he received the right offer, according to his representative, Dapo Kujore.
He’s the one that criticized the medical staff at Newcastle only last week, and now it would appear he’s really trying to stir things up. He has issued a “come-on” to potentially interested clubs by saying that Martins would consider leaving Newcastle United. What is this guy playing at?
Martins has not played since mid-December, and should be having his hernia operation in Germany today, or so we were told last week.
Kujore told Kick Off Nigeria today.
“If an offer came for him, of course he would consider it,”
“But, for now, he is a Newcastle player and he will give his best to the club as long as he is there.”
“Right now, he is focused on getting completely fit and back on the pitch again.”
Joe Kinnear or Dennis Wise need to get on the phone with the players’ representatives – at least N’Zogbia and Martins – and tell them to keep quiet about the Newcastle Players they represent.
Of course they are only in this for themselves, because if their players move they will get a cut of the deal – but it’s ridiculous that there no controls on these agents.
There should be – and the FA should put some limitations on what these people can say to the press.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #7These guys are keen to negotiate contracts and if the clubs breaches or cuts the agent out of a process, there’s hell but it seems that agents have absolutley no morality whatsoever.
Cut the mercenaries out altogether and ask PFA or set up some international equivalent to act for players.

Comment #8“If an offer came for him, of course he would consider it,”
that hardly means he is thinking about leaving the hagent is simply stating that if a decent team Man U, Real Madrid came in then he would think about going and you can hardly blame him.
Although the papers might read it as a want away statement we shouldn’t be putting words into thier papers for them – get a grip Ed.

Comment #9martins agent is only saying what oba has asked him to, the same as shag givens solicitor the other week. we need to face facts – no-one wants to play at newcastle and its all because of one man and the way he is running things – mike ashley.

Comment #11How come it’s illegal for clubs to ‘tap up’ another clubs player, but agents are allowed to promote their players availability even when the clubs have no intention of selling their player!
Shocking state of affairs

Comment #13Pons looking at it from another angle, maybe our board have tapped up Oba’s agent along with Zog’s and Given to put the feelers out to see how much they can be sold for, kinda unofficially putting them on the transfer list.

Comment #15He’s under contract as is N’Zogbia if they want out then someone will have to offer us enough to part with them. Ever player had his price but until that price is matched we do not have to do anything.

Comment #17Not much in this to be honest. Though I feel that agents should keep their mouths shut. They seem to cause so many problems in football and don’t seem to have much respect in the game. His agent said things about the medical staff last week and Martins came out immediately afterwards, and said that he disagreed with what his agent said.
Any news on the transfer front? I was hoping to have signed someone before the cup game.

Comment #18Shot Bru – fair point mate.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the board we’re looking around for potential bidders. They could make a lot of money by selling our best players and reinvest it in their wallets.

Comment #23Sounds like he was asked the question if Martins would consider going to a club like Arsenal et al and gave an answer that most agents and players would give, I dont think he deserves strangeling for it lol
I wouldn’t expect him to say something like “no he will never leave, he is fully commited and will end his carrer here” it just doesn’t happen like that.

Comment #26Martins entourage have critisised the back room staff and now stating Obs may want to leave.
They appear to be destablising the club from Oba’s point of view.
Oba had to defend the back room staff after their comments. Get a grip Oba they are not helping you, the club or the fans!

Comment #27real entertainers- agreed… he should ditch them. but to be honest i have always seen oba as an honest lad, last transfer window he said himself a move to arsenal would be a dream BUT he loves newcastle and the fans and is happy here and all that……if he wants out we’ll know soon enough but i honestly dont think this is anything to worry about… of course if it is a fact losing oba may be the final straw, ashley needs a kick in the bitch tits…. what a prick.

Comment #28a. l 9 – To be fair, when reading into this comment it doesn’t actually say too much. Like has been pointed out it talks about how Oba will consider any offer put to him – we wouldn’t expect otherwise.
In truth I can’t imagine many other clubs Oba could go to where he’d be a guaranteed starter earning £70k per week. I don’t think he’s going anywhere. Unlike N’Zogbia.

Comment #32Pons I think e would leave for the top 4 or go abroad to one of the top clubs but thats it, cannot see too many of the top clubs realy needing him though. As for N’Zogbia I realy couldn’t care less what he does anymore his constant moaning is just getting tiresom and it will probably be best for us if we just grant him his wish and let him rot on the Villa bench.

Comment #34Do you guys really beleive that his agent is on his own on this one???… Man thats blind puppy love.
Oba wants out, deal with it!
We really need to get rid of players like Oba and Zog, they are unsetling with all their big club hunting in every tranfer window… I just dont get how Zog gets booed, yet Oba is everyones little angel, and all the bad stuff is down to his agent… sigh
